I purchased final cut X and I have used it for some time now, I have been updating without a problem but this time around I'm not able to update to Final Cut 10.1 When I purchase it rightfully says I cannot purchase and I can only update. Please advise!

Make sure you are using the same Apple ID and password you used to originally purchase Final Cut X.
If you are running Lion v10.7 as your profile suggests, installing the OS X Lion Update 10.7.3 (Client Combo) will reinstall the App Store for you which may help.
Restart your Mac after the combo is installed and try to update the software. -
I have purchased Final Cut Pro for my imac and now want to put it onto my macbook air so I can use it when away from my desk. How can I do this
I took away my backup disk with me so just took it from there excellent. I am back home at present working on my imac. When I go to use my macbook air on these projects (when away on boat) is it easiest to simply copy the Project and Events folders in total from my imac onto the other machine and do the same upon my return in reverse? I don't use icloud

You download the update from the App Store using the Apple ID that was used to purchase it.
You should read up about the newer versions before you update as the application has changed substantially since then.

How do I take Final Cut Pro off one computer and move it to a new one?
I'm using Final Cut Pro Academic, and I can only run the program on one computer. If I'm getting a new computer, how do I move the program from my old computer to my new computer? Is there a way to "deauthorize" my old computer? If there is, I can't seem to find it.
Any help you could give would be greatly appreciated.

I just purchased Final Cut Pro X and I want to burn a dvd but the tabs do not see the option of SHARE. Is there something wrong with my Final Cut Pro X?

If so, open a Finder window, choose Applications in the sidebar and delete Final Cut Pro X. Then, go to the Mac App Store and download Final Cut Pro X for free.

I have an academic version of Final Cut Studio on my laptop and recently purchased the most recent Full version of Final Cut Studio. Do I need to uninstall the academic version before installing the new version? I ask because this is not an upgrade, but a completely new version.
I'm with Jim on this. It always seems to work out better if you do not install over another version. You can use this app (freeware - thanks to Jon Chappel) to completely remove ALL Final Cut Studio apps and components: http://www.digitalrebellion.com/fcsremover/
Once that's done, install your newly purchased version.
