Been trying to upgrade it and update it but it kept saying " error" and i really need to update it and download it.. I need help..

- What model of iPod are you trying to update?
- If this is an iPod touch, are you trying to update directly from the iPod, or through iTunes on your computer?
- If from the iPod, what version of iOS is on it now?
- If through a computer, what operating system and version of iTunes?
- And what is the exact text of the error message?

the settings are gone, i guess. But even worse, I cannot get the iPad2 to play Full HD thru the Apple digital AV adaptor using apps that support (and advertise this), like AVPlayer HD. This definiteley used to work before one of the last iOS upgrades. (I am now at 5.1.1).

It is possible that the app was removed from the App Store. If so you will not be able to get it back, unless you have it downloaded on your computer.
If you had downloaded it before and it is still in the store, you can go to the App Store app on your iPod and go to the Updates tab. Then you tap on "Purchased" and see if it is available to download from your previous purchases.
