How do I download java to play games

Java is part of the Mac OS X installation, so you don't need to download and install it separately. For Mac OS X Lion (10.7), Java is not installed by default. However, the first time you need to use it, the system prompts you and asks if you want to download and install Java. If you agree and give authentication, it is installed. Going forward, there are no more prompts when Java is needed. Java will be available. If there is a future update to Java, you will be notified through Software Update, like with other Mac OS X components.

Look in the Applications folder or in the Utilities folder (which is in the Applications folder) for an item named Java Preferences. If it is there, open it. You should then be asked permission for it to be downloaded and installed - okay that.
