Yes, leave your personal account running in the background and the guest account in the foreground, or if that's somehow inconvenient (and with fast user switching I don't think it is really), you can lock the Dock with a program like Tinkertool (System?) or Onyx and lock applications from removal by locking their status in file info (apple+a to select all the apps, apple + click to unselect the drawers or non-apps, and then applealti to do multiple file info at once) and then click the lock square. Then back out to the apps folder info itself and lock it.

How can I lock the launchpad in order to prevent it from displaying my apps in another order each time I launchpad?

I don't know if it's only my MacBook or it's something to be improved on OS X Lion, but everytime I launchpad, the apps appear in a different order. I have reorganized the launchpad so many times, but it just keeps self-organizing my apps the way it wants, and that's quite anoying when you try to keep the iWork apps in the same row, for example.
Does anyone know why is this happening? Is there a preferences window for launchpad or something like this?

Getting a "Your network preferences prevent us from communicating with the server" error in dw 5.5

Hello, lately i noticed dw 5.5 can't seem to use browserlab, it says "Your network preferences prevent us from communicating with the server"
I can connect to BC and other ftp servers no problem, I've also turned off my firewall to be sure and it still won;t connect.
The only info I found on this error is a tip on how to turn off browserlab, which in turn gets this error, Not sure why you would wnat to shut the feature off, but no tip to turn it on. The tip on editing the registry doesn;t help because itsyays to change the registry key to 0 and all communication of adobe products will be turned off, however the key does exist and is set to 1, so I can;t even try that tip in reverse to enable, itshould be communication already.
Any help would be appreciated, I am just competinga site and was about to check it in all the browsers, an incredibly useful and time saving feature, but I can't now.

Phil, the only screenshot I've seen from you is the error message (and I can't seem to view the others you just posted), so apologies if I told you something you'd already tried. We still think there should be a solution to this, it's just that debugging issues this way can be a little difficult, so please bear with us.
At this point our best guess is that there is a registry setting that got changed that is causing the issue for both of you. We have been able to repro the issue on Windows XP by setting the following 32-bit registry entry to 0. The issue was fixed by changing it back to 1. We've also tested on Windows 7 and verified the same thing with the 64-bit registry entry. Apologies if I'm suggesting something that any of you has already tried, but no details were provided about which registry entry you checked or what article you were looking at.

I spotted this sollution from another user in relation to a similar problem:
Quit the app then reset the iPad.
Double click the Home button to show the screen with running and recently used apps. Each app icon will have a sample page above it. Flick up on the page (not the app icon) and the page will fly away and the app icon will disappear. This quits that app. Then reset your device. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart. See if that fixes your problem.

To quit Auto analyser, open task manager/Activity monitor and look for 'ElementsAutoAnalyzer' and kill this process/exe.
Auto analyser is an exe used by Organizer for performing 'media analysis' (assigning smart tags to images).

I spilled a cup of choclate milk on my keyboard, it was soaked! But my battery was drained so I know nothing had short out. So I turned it over and never tried to turn it on.
July 2
I went to the nearest apple center and asked them to clean it for me. (I knew it wasn't a good idea to clean it myself) They put it in a plastic bag but I asked them to open it as soon as possible so I know what parts are affected. They told me they'd take a picture of the inside for me and go back after an hour. Milk was still inside everywhere so I asked them to take it in.
July 8
I called to get an update on my mac and they said it wasn't economically practical to repair it because they recommended a full system replacement. I got depressed and accepted my Mac's fate. But what's annoying is I put my mac in on July 2 and they only tried to clean it in July 5 which makes me think that was the reason my mac was irreparable.
July 9
I took my mac and tried to find another opinion but I showed the diagnostics from the apple store and they said they couldn't fix it. My parents were getting ready to buy a new one.
July 13
I realized that my mac didn't have charge when milk spilled on it so I tried to charge it and BOOM IT OPENED. They keyboards were sticky and it takes a moment before my computer reacts to the trackpad but it works! Even all the keys works! But it doesn't charge.
After lunch, it was workingp perfectly and my batteries were at 30% charge! I was really happy!
(in the interval my mac works perfectly, it stays for normal 7 hours when battery is charged fully)
However at July 19
There was no electricity for four days (A typhoon came in the Philippines) and my battery is about 7% so I went to the public market to get it charge while I wait for electricity. I charged it for about 3 hours and sideways because it was inside my backpack while it charged so noone will notice it. When I got home and opened my laptop, it shut off randomly after my desktop appeared after start up. So I was sad.

I found a solution online to use the option-shift-power button my mac opened and worked normally!
July 21
My computer was normal in the morning then in the afternoon it shut off again after I waked it up from sleep. Tried option-shift for about 3-5 times before it worked with varying intervals from 5-20 minutes each
July 22
I get nervous when I use it but it worked perfectly I was even able to edit with Final-cut pro and HD clips.
Wednesday
Worked perfectly in the morning but in the afternoon, after waking it up from sleep it won't turn on tried the option-shift then I tried resetting the SMC for about three times (my mac is a unibody) but it didn't turn on the whole evening.
Today Thursday morning July 24
I tried to reset SMC first thing in the morning after the thing won't turn on. After about an hour, I tried to turn my mac on normally and it opened. So what I did is to back up all my files. (It took the whole afternoon) and at night I ran diagnostics (D during start up) and no threats were found
Haven't been experiencing the trouble, as of the moment I'm writing this Jul 25, Friday (12:13 AM) HK time Philippines.
So what I'm asking here is what do I do to make sure this doesn't occur anymore. I probably written a very detailed log. So what else (diagnostics and other) should I do to prevent this from happening again. School starts in August and I will need my laptop to work perfectly to let me go through college with less burden. Thank you and I hope you reply. Any more questions about details on my Mac will be answered

How do I put a passcode on movies to prevent kids from watching?

We have an iPad 2 for our son and we allow him to play spelling and math games on it. We do, however, have some movies on it that we occasionally let him watch. We would like to be able to put a passcode on the Movies app so he is not able to just launch movies whenever he has time with the iPad.
Is there any way to do this?
It would not be very convenient to remove the movies via sync and only put them on when we want him to watch them (and me may forget on that long road trip, and be stuck with out them).
Any advice would be appreciated.

Try settings, general, restrictions
remember the passcode because if you forget it you'll have to reset the device.
Then set your movie ratings down to the leve you want and see if htat prevents your child from accessing it
It won't lock out everything as far as I understand it, but can keep him from watching the ones you don't want hime to see.
As far as I know, there is no way to totally block out the movie app.

If you dont restrict the characteristic using any value in the filter, then all values will be locked.

Well if it has a non-Filevaulted hard drive, you need to stop using the computer and either take it to a local PC/Mac repair shop that does data recovery or do it yourself with a spare blank powered external boot drive and $100 software that will read the deleted (but not yet overwritten) files.
Create a data recovery/undelete external boot drive
Once you have the files recovered, back your data up, especially burning data DVD's in iTunes.

I'm developing a vi for a museum exhibit and would like to keep visitors from getting to desktop and quick launch bar. seems i can do everything else via window appearance except stopping window dragging.

If you goto File->VI properties->Window Appearance and then uncheck the "Window has titlebar" and "allow users to resize window", they should not be able to move the window. You most likely what to close the quick launch bar by dragging it off the start menu then closing it. Also, you might want to right click on the start menu and goto properties and unselect the "always on top" option. This will allow you to reposition the form to cover the start menu.
