HT1338 How do I skip an upgrade?

I actively use Pages 09 to publish a monthly newsletter.  I use the link text feature in Pages 09, but noted that feature was removed in the latest edition of Pages.  Apple does not warn us when it removes features during the update process.  It seems to me that I use to be able to review changes associated with upgrades.  However, now, the change document seems to be more like self-promotion. I want to avoid Apple updates until I know what is being changed.
Now I note that the update alert only permits install updates now or later, with no optout option.  How do I opt out?

Pete, good morning.
I don't download now.  But then the alert persists and returns.  I would like to skip a version until I can read comments from the Apple community on what the update actually did.  I did not see a place in Software Update that provided any preference control.
Okay, just checked the System Preferences and see where I can uncheck the Automatically check for updates.  I like knowing about upgardes, but want the option to skip a new version until I have had a chance to view the communities reaction to it.
Your suggestion works, only if I turn off the auto check for updates.  That certainly is an option.
Thanks again.
Terry

Please can anyone help me how to upgrade or update my mac notebook my versionis 10.5.8 I have tried several updates and or upgrade and have not been able to . Is there any new OS X availabel for my version. Please Help Thank you

Click here, install the DVD, run Software Update, open the Mac App Store, and try purchasing Mountain Lion. If you get told it's incompatible, phone the online Apple Store and order a download code for Lion.

  • HT1338 How do I go about upgrading my Mac OS X from 10.4.11 to 10.5?

My OS is massively out of date, but I can't seem to find how or where to purchase an update. Help!

Many thanks for your help and for getting back to me so quickly. As you've probably guessed, I'm far from computer literate. I have the below, would that support it? Thanks in advance.

  • How do I skip upgrading itunes? I used to have an option, now I can't get past the upgrade for free screen!

I have been trying to access the itunes store for a week now but can not get past the screen to upgrade for free.  I do not want to upgrade, I tried but can not install the free upgrade because I am using 10.2.2.  I do not want to upgrade I just want to get to the itunes store... how do I get past this screen?  There used to be an option to skip the upgrade.

I have an iMac G5 with a pre-Intel processor.  My current OS is 10.4.1.  When I open my iTunes store function, I get an upgrade to iTunes 10.5 page that does not allow me the opportunity to refuse the recommended upgrade and I don't want it because my processor is not the Intel processor.  I can't get past this page to access the iTunes store.  I can't find iTunes 9.2.1 online to download, if that is the only solution.  I can't believe Apple is forcing me to purchase a new iMac in order to continue using iTunes on my current iMac.  I'd like a good answer and solution to this problem.

You phone the Apple Store and order a Mac OS X 10.6 DVD, and if desired, update it to 10.6.8 and get Mountain Lion from the Mac App Store.

  • HT1338 I have a Mac PC with OS X version 10.5.8.  How do I update or upgrade to 10.7?

How do I update or upgrade to 10.7?  I cannot use my iphone 5 on this old system.

How can I check my PC to see if it has enough memory to complete this download?  Also it looks like from Snow Leopard I can then upgrade (If I want) to Mountain Lion---is that correct?  I understand that itunes 10.7, which is what I need for the iphone 5 will run off of either program.  Is there any benefit to upgrading to Mountain Lion?

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
Initial setup, including any forced updates by your carrier, cannot be bypassed. The only way to avoid it is to load the OS that is being pushed via AutoLoader (or a more recent one) instead, and then start over.
    Good luck!

  • How to install iPhoto after upgrading to yosemite?

how to install iPhoto after upgrading to yosemite?

Download it from the App Store as Matt suggested.  You may have to move the current version to the Trash Bin (don't delete yet), go to the App Store and look for iPhoto 9.6 under purchases.  It will be free.
What iPhoto version did you have prior to the Yosemite upgrade?  If it was iPhoto 7 (08) or earlier you'll also have to download and run the iPhoto Library Upgrader 1.1 on your library before opening it with iPhoto 9.6.

  • How do I skip footer records in Data file through control file of sql*loade

    hi,
I am using sql*loader to load data from data file and i have written control file for it. How do i skip last '5' records of data file or the footer records to be skiped to read.
For first '5' records to be skiped we can use "skip" to achieve it but how do i acheive for last '5' records.
    2)
Can I mention two data files in one control file if so what is the syntax(like we give INFILE Where we mention the path of data file can i mention two data file in same control file)
    3)
If i have datafile with variable length (ie 1st record with 200 charcter, 2nd with 150 character and 3rd with 180 character) then how do i load data into table, i mean what will be the syntax for it in control file.
4)if i want to insert sysdate into table through control file how do i do it.
    5) If i have variable length records in data file and i have first name then white space between then and then last name, how do i insert this value which includes first name and last name into single column of the table.( i mean how do you handle the white space in between first name and last name in data file)
    Thanks in advance

You should read the documentation about SQL*Loader.

  • I have an older I Mac operating system 10.6.8 and want to upgrade.  I've been told that the only upgrade available for my machine is 10.7.5.  On what website can I find this upgrade or how do I find this upgrade on the Apple website?

I have an older I Mac operating system 10.6.8 and want to upgrade.  I've been told that the only upgrade available for my machine is 10.7.5.  On what website can I find this upgrade or how do I find this upgrade on the Apple website?

Choose About this Mac from the Apple menu, check if the computer has at least a Xeon or Core 2 Duo(not Core Duo) CPU and 2GB of RAM, and if it does, click here and order a download code for Lion 10.7.
Back up your data and check your applications for compatibility before upgrading. In particular, Mac OS X 10.7 and newer don't support PowerPC programs such as versions of Microsoft Office prior to 2008.

  • How many times can you upgrade your ipad mini?

i have the ipad mini, and i would like to know, how many times you can upgrade? reason being the 3rd gerantion ipodtouch only upgrades once. for an ipad mini can i upgrade more than once, because it would be fair

There is no limit to the number of times an iPad can get an iOS update. Eventually though the iOS will evolve beyond the capabilities of the specific iPad. Tis is already the case for the original iPad. That iPad can only be updated to iOS 5.1.1 and no further. So far all iPads after that continue to receive updates when Apple releases them.

  • How can I skip to a new year in the new calendar format?

I am not impressed with the new icloud calendar format. It is too white and it is difficult to see the days. However main complaint is that you cannot skip to the next year quickly. On the previous format you could selected 2014 and immediately select a month. In this new 'improved' format you have to scroll through all the invening moths. Can you fix this Apple or tell us how we can skip forwards 12 months quickly?
    Iain

I agree about the lack of convenience with regard to skipping years in the near future...I'm okay with the general design, but the new way of skipping years is not a step forward considering how I've used it in the past. However, the new way could be advantageous when skipping a big block of years.

  • I currently have Leopard, and there are no longer updates for it. So I must upgrade to either Snow Leopard or Mountain Lion. Without doing so I cannot update my itunes, and my ipod is no longer compatile with my mac. How can I buy the upgrade

I currently have Leopard, and there are no longer updates for it. So I must upgrade to either Snow Leopard or Mountain Lion. Without doing so I cannot update my itunes, and my ipod is no longer compatile with my mac. How can I buy the upgrade, since I do not have access to the mac store as that comes with Snow Leopard? I went to Best Buy and they said neither Snow Leopard or Mountain Lion can be bought there.

Start by checking if you can run Snow Leopard:
Requirements for OS X 10.6 'Snow Leopard'
    http://support.apple.com/kb/SP575
Whilst Apple have withdrawn Snow Leopard from their stores, you can still get it from Apple by calling 1-800-MY-APPLE (if you are in the USA) and they will supply the SL DVD for $20 for a single user, or $30 for a family pack that covers up to 5 Macs.  You can also purchase the code to use to download Lion from the same number (Lion requires an Intel-based Mac with a Core 2 Duo, i3, i5, i7 or Xeon processor and 2GB of RAM, running the latest version of Snow Leopard), or you can purchase Mountain Lion from the App Store - if you can run that:
    http://www.apple.com/osx/specs/
If you are outside the US call your national Apple Helpline:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HE57
If you're in the UK, use this number: 0871 508 4400
When you have installed it, run Software Update to download and install the latest updates for Snow Leopard.
To use iCloud you have to upgrade all the way to Mountain Lion:
