What version of iPhoto do you have? Is OS X 10.5.8 the correct version of the OS?

IPhoto 9/10.6.1 Cannot Open the Application iPhoto as it may be damaged
Hi All,
Not sure if this is an iPhoto 9 issue or a Snow Leopard Issue. Since the upgrade I get an error message saying "The Application iPhoto cannot be opened as it may be damaged or incomplete."
I have repaired permissions, trashed preferences, re-installed from the iLife 09 DVD, reinstalled again from the SL DVD, all to no avail.
Starting from my 10.5/iPhoto 08 bootable back up works OK, the back up is a Clone of the main drive prior to installing SL and iPhoto 09 so the Libraries should be the same.
Any ideas what I should be doing here?re-installed from the iLife 09 DVD
Did you trash the receipts before re-installing?
To re-install iPhoto
1. Put the iPhoto.app in the trash (Drag it from your Applications Folder to the trash)
2. Go to HD/Library/Receipts and remove any pkg file there with iPhoto in the name
3. Re-install.
If you purchased an iLife Disk, then iPhoto is on it.
If iPhoto was installed on your Mac when you go it then it’s on the System Restore disks that came with your Mac. Insert the first one and opt to ‘Install Bundled Applications Only...’

I have been trying to move pictures into iphoto and am now receiving a message the say I "cannot open the application iphoto because the classic environment is no longer supported."
Launch iPhoto the the Option key held down and create a new library. See if you can import those photos into it. If you can then your current library is damaged.
If that's the case make a temporary, duplicate copy of the library and try the three fixes below in order as needed:
Fix #1
delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your Home/Library/Preferences folder.
NOTE: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding the the Option key. You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.
2. delete iPhoto's cache files that are located in the Home/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder.
Fix #2
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys depressed and follow the instructions to rebuild the library. Select last three options.
Fix #3
Use iPhoto Library Manager to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your User/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File->Rebuild Library menu option
In the next window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments but not books, calendars or slideshows. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory. -
i am having problems opening iTunes! ever since I updated to 10.5.3ver, I cannot open the application. I have deleted iTunes and all associated apps (bonjour, Cloud, Apple support apps, etc) and still something is wrong. I cant find it anywhere; where did it go? I am using iphoto 6.0.6 and after opening the application it drops below the dock. I can see it when I use expose to reveal all open windows but once selected it drops below the dock.
Try trash the com.apple.iPhoto.plist file from the HD/Users/ Your Name / library / preferences folder.
(On 10.7: Hold the option (or alt) key while clicking on the Go menu in Finder to access the User Library)
(Remember you'll need to reset your User options afterwards. These include minor settings like the window colour and so on. Note: If you've moved your library you'll need to point iPhoto at it again.)
What's the plist file?
For new users: Every application on your Mac has an accompanying plist file. It records certain User choices. For instance, in your favourite Word Processor it remembers your choice of Default Font, on your Web Browser is remembers things like your choice of Home Page. It even recalls what windows you had open last if your app allows you to pick up from where you left off last. The iPhoto plist file remembers things like the location of the Library, your choice of background colour, whether you are running a Referenced or Managed Library, what preferences you have for autosplitting events and so on. Trashing the plist file forces the app to generate a new one on the next launch, and this restores things to the Factory Defaults. Hence, if you've changed any of these things you'll need to reset them. If you haven't, then no bother. Trashing the plist file is Mac troubleshooting 101. -

It's not part of Mac OS X 10.5 on a PowerPC Mac or of any OS on an Intel Mac. You need to use Mac OS X 10.4.11 or earlier, or a newer Photoshop version.

Try doing a Dock restart using the following Terminal command:
killall Dock
Log out/in and test. If that doesn’t work, you need to look in your user Library/Applications Support/Dock for the .db. Use the Finder “Go To Folder” command. Enter ~/Library/Applications Support/Dock. Move the .db to your desktop.
Then try a dock reset.
Applications/Utilities/Terminal enter the command
killall Dock
Log out/in test. If it works okay, delete the .db from the desktop.
If the Dock is the same, return the .db to where you got them from, overwriting the newer ones. -

First you have to purchase Snow Leopard, 10.6, from the Apple on-line store for $20. Install and on-line software update from the disk version to the last of the line, 10.6.8.
Then determine if you can go to Mountain Lion, http://www.apple.com/osx/specs and if you can go to the App Store and purchase for $20 the download of 10.8.3.
If you cannot go to ML, see if you can go to Lion, 10.7.5, do you have an Intel Core 2 Duo, i3, i5, i7 or Xeon processor at least 2 GB ram and 7 GB free hard drive space. If so you can purchase a download code for Lion from 1-800-MY-APPLE for $20.
If you can use Mountain Lion, skip the Lion step and go directly to ML. -

1 - the restore disks that came with the computer
or
2 - the iLife DVD that you purchased
or (most likely for the limited information you provided)
3 - the app store - log in under the Apple id used to purchase the software or to set up the computer - look under purchases - you might have to unhide or accept the Application first

Fire fox has always been my preferred browser. I received a message that i needed to update Firefox. I did this and moved the icon to my application file as shown; noting only one of two steps was completed. there was no opportunity to do anything else. I opened it by clicking that i agreed it was an application from the internet. It worked that afternoon. I then turned off my computer, and now the old and the new mozilla firefox icons will not work. I have all my bookmarks on Firefox and need to use it constantly while I work; how do I get it back?!
You calendar info should also be mirrored on your computer. Use the option to replace all events on the iPod with the info on your computer during the next sync. You can find this option in the info pane, Advanced section.

IPhoto broken - Empty window when I open the application - Help needed

Since my upgrade to Snow Leopard my iPhoto 09 has been completely broken. What I get when I start it up is an empty window. No pictures on the right pane and no menus on the left pane. I read many threads about iPhoto issues, and so I have tried to rebuild the library, reinstall iPhoto from the disk I got with my mac. Still the same problem: On startup, iPhoto opens with a completely blank window. All I have are the three buttons at the bottom left side of the window (+, info and enlarge). Only if I click "+" to add a new album the menus on the left pane (events, photos...) appear. A few clicks on these menus and iPhoto crashes. All this, done with a new, clean library. I moved the old one, and keep it for the day I'll get iPhoto to work again. Hope you guys can help. This is painfully frustrating.Thanks for help Terrence
I am using Suitcase Fusion 2 and just activitating Helvetica Neue in Suitcase seemed to fix this problem I have had for several months.
I highly recommend doing the activation in Suitcase instead of just droping it into the System Fonts folder. This will allow for Suitcase to activate or deactivate the font. If you put the font into one of your folders, Suitcase can not deactivate, which might be necessary if your job uses a different version of Helvetica Neue. -
How do I reset Firefox if I am not able to open the application after ending it on the task manager?
We changed the privacy options on firefox, closed the program, and now we are not able to open it. We have ended the process on the task manager, but it still will not open. We tried to uninstall it but it won't even let us do that. I've read lots of articles on how to reset firefox, but it isn't helpful when i can't get into firefox to try it.
