How do I upgrade to safari 6+

You need to upgrade the computer to Mac OS X 10.7 or newer to get Safari 6. If it's running Mac OS X 10.4.3 or earlier, this isn't possible.

Back up your data, click here, and read the entire page. Mac OS X 10.7 and newer don't support PowerPC software such as Microsoft Office 2004; some other installed software may also be incompatible.

  • HT6104 How do I upgrade to Safari 7 if I currently have OS X 10.6.8 running on my desktop?  I need it to access new features on another website.

I need Safari 7 to be able to use some of the newer features at Fidelity Investments' website.  When I tried upgrading, I received a message stating that I could not update my OS X system (as currently configured).  Fidelity says this is supposed to be a free upgrade to Safari 7.  Any help appreciated.

Before you finish considering upgrading your OS, do a check on your existing programs because many of them (in particular those that are PPC) will not work on the newer, higher OSs.

  • HT1338 how can I upgrade my Logic Pro 6

I bought the Logic 6 years ago, how can I upgrade this now?
    robert

You'll need to buy a new copy of Logic Pro if you want anything newer. Logic 6 was discontinued eight years ago, so no updates will be available for it. Logic Pro 9 is available through the Mac App Store.

how could iI upgrade my OS from Mac OS 10.5.8 to the Latest version Mountain Lion

    Hello,
You need to get 10.6 & update to 10.6.8 first to be able to buy it from the App Store & download it.
    Snow Leopard/10.6.x Requirements...
    General requirements
       * Mac computer with an Intel processor
        * 1GB of memory (I say 4GB at least, more if you can afford it)
        * 5GB of available disk space (I say 30GB at least)
        * DVD drive for installation
        * Some features require a compatible Internet service provider; fees may apply.
        * Some features require Apple’s MobileMe service; fees and terms apply.
Which apps work with Mac OS X 10.6?...

It's been pulled from the online store, so you have to call Apple to buy it, last I heard, but quick, call before it's gone!

You have to get 10.6.8 first to go even higher to 10.7 or 10.8

Upgrade Paths to Snow Leopard, Lion, Mountain Lion, or Mavericks
You can upgrade to Mountain Lion or Mavericks from Lion or directly from Snow Leopard. Mountain Lion can be downloaded from the Mac App Store for $19.99. To access the App Store you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.6 or later installed.
    Upgrading to Snow Leopard
You can purchase Snow Leopard through the Apple Store: Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard — Apple Store (U.S.). The price is $19.99 plus tax. You will be sent physical media by mail after placing your order.
After you install Snow Leopard you will have to download and install the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 to update Snow Leopard to 10.6.8 and give you access to the App Store. Access to the App Store enables you to download Mountain Lion if your computer meets the requirements.
         Snow Leopard General Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel processor
           2. 1GB of memory
           3. 5GB of available disk space
           4. DVD drive for installation
           5. Some features require a compatible Internet service provider;
               fees may apply.
           6. Some features require Apple’s iCloud services; fees and
               terms apply.
    Upgrading to Lion
If your computer does not meet the requirements to install Mountain Lion, it may still meet the requirements to install Lion.
You can purchase Lion by contacting Customer Service: Contacting Apple for support and service — this includes international calling numbers. The cost is $19.99 (as it was before) plus tax.  It's a download. You will get an email containing a redemption code that you then use at the Mac App Store to download Lion. Save a copy of that installer to your Downloads folder because the installer deletes itself at the end of the installation.
         Lion System Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7,
               or Xeon processor
           2. 2GB of memory
           3. OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
           4. 7GB of available space
           5. Some features require an Apple ID; terms apply.
Upgrading to Mountain Lion or Mavericks
To upgrade to Mountain Lion or Mavericks you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8 or Lion installed. Purchase and download Mountain Lion or Mavericks (Free) from the App Store. Sign in using your Apple ID. Mountain Lion is $19.99 plus tax. The file is quite large, over 4 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.
OS X Mountain Lion — System Requirements
Macs that can be upgraded to OS X Mountain Lion
             1. iMac (Mid 2007 or newer) — Model Identifier 7,1 or later
             2. MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer) —
                 Model Identifier 5,1 or later
             3. MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             4. MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer) — Model Identifier 2,1 or later
             5. Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             6. Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             7. Xserve (Early 2009) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
To find the model identifier open System Profiler in the Utilities folder. It's displayed in the panel on the right.
    Are my applications compatible?
See App Compatibility Table — RoaringApps.
For a complete How-To introduction from Apple see Upgrade to OS X Mountain Lion.

  • HT1338 How do I upgrade from OS X 10.5.8 to to 10.6.8?

How do I upgrade from OS X 10.5.8 to 10.6.8?  I have the new iPhone 5 and it wont connect to itunes.  It said I needed 10.6.8 but cant find it on the App Store.

I'm also looking to do this, my MacBook Pro is also OS X 10.5.8.
I contacted my local Apple Store and they told me that they could not do anything for me. They suggested I buy the upgrade from Amazon.com.
What am I looking to upgrade to? OS X 10.6?

  • How do I upgrade from Safari 1.3 on a PowerBook G4 OS X 10.3?

I need to upgrade from Safari 1.3, but the only links I can find aren't working, and I can't find a software update for this when I click on Software Updates from the apple icon. I have a PowerBook G4 with an OS X 10.3 operating system. I recently tried to access a link someone sent to gallery.mac.com, and it won't support my Safari version.
    thanks.

    Hi Barbara,
I too run os x 10.3.9 Panther and Safari 1.3.2.. It really annoys me that WINDOWS users have the option to run Safari 3.0.4 but Apple users running Panther do not have that
ability and or option, that said.
    Using Firefox Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en-US; rv:1.8.1.12) Gecko/20080201 Firefox/2.0.0.12
I entered gallery.mac.com in google search and tried the first hit, it was someone's specific gallery.mac.com site ... those photos loaded for me on Firefox.
So if you have a specific address to a users gallery it seems it will load in Firefox.

I am using Mac OSx 6. it doesn't let me download. it says  incompatible

You need to be updated to 10.6.8 which you likely are if you are in the App Store, and second your mac has to be suitable to install MLion. Check this link for supported models.

  • HT1338 How do I upgrade Mac OS X Tiger?

How do I upgrade Mac OS X Tiger?

Note the 867 Mhz or higher (1 Ghz is higher) is necessary for 10.5.
Note 10.5 also gets rid of Classic, the compatibility for Mac OS 9.
Note 10.6 to 10.6.8 can be upgraded to 10.7 or 10.8 as long as you have a Core2Duo minimum.   10.7 or later are not compatible with Rosetta, the Mac OS X tool that lets pre-2006 software run on newer machines.  For more on each, see these tips on 10.4, 10.5, 10.6, 10.7, and 10.8.
If you meet the requirements after purchasing the 10.6 installer CD.
10.4.4 through 10.5.8 can be upgraded directly to 10.6.3 to 10.6.6 to 10.7 to 10.7.5
10.4.4 through 10.5.8 can be upgraded directly to 10.6.3 to 10.6.8 to 10.8 to 10.8.4
10.7 & 10.8 are separate purchases, and can be downloaded from the Mac App Store once you are at 10.6.6 or 10.6.8 minimum depending on where you are at.

  • HT1338 how do i upgrade my Mac OS X version 10.5.8

how do i upgrade my Mac OS X version 10.5.8?

If your Macbook has an Intel processor, you can first upgrade to 10.6 (Snow Leopard).
You need to purchase that from the Apple retail Store:
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard
If you are not in the US, use the flag button at the bottom of the page to change to your country's store.
Depending on they type of Intel macbook it is, you may be able to upgrade further to Lion or Mountain Lion.
Open About this Mac from the Apple menu.
    Then, click on More Info.
Select the Hardware heading and llok at the Model Identifier.
I can't remember if it was called that or if that OS had a hardware section, but you are looking for something like macbook5,1
If that first number is less than a 5, you can't go any further than Lion. Unless there is something in Lion you need, I would stick with Snow Leopard.
If the first number is a 5 or greater, you can upgrade to Mountain Lion. Once you have installed 10.6 and updated it to 10.6.8, you can purchase and install Mountain Lion from the Mac App Store (which is available in the Apple menu of OS X 10.6.8 or later).
However, if you want to go beyond Snow Leopard, make sure you purchase enough RAM to have at least 4GB. Any less than that would not be pleasant.
Additionally, Mavericks, 10.9, is due to be released this fall. You may want to wait until then and just upgrade to that instead of Mountain Lion (10.8).  Either way, you will need to purchase and install 10.6 from DVD. You need to keep that disk if you ever need to reinstall the OS.

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
First, upgrade to Snow Leopard. Check that your iMac is supported > http://support.apple.com/kb/sp575 Then, buy Snow Leopard > http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573Z/A/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard
Make a backup of your files, insert the DVD and follow the steps to upgrade. After upgrading, open  > Software Update, and install OS X 10.6.8. Finally, open Software Update again and install iTunes 11, or iTunes 10.7 > http://support.apple.com/kb/dl1576
