HT1338 I accidently bounced an email from someone I want to keep getting emails from.  Do I need to do an 'unbounce' if that's possible?

I accidently bounced an email from someone I want to kjeep getting email from.   Do I have to do anything or is the bounce just for the 'one' email itself not for the sender entirely?

Hello, as far as I know it's for just one eMail.
But truth be told, all that Bounce really does is let spammers know they reached a real eMail addy.

    Did you purchase the software in another country than where you live?

    If a person is using your email address, you should change your email password and make sure there aren't any forwards to some strange email address.
    An example if you were using gmail, under account settings, a forward can be set up to send messages to another email address.
    If your email address is say, you own domain, such as somename@somename dot com, make sure the forwards are forwards you set up.
    If your email account was hacked and the bad guy has access, you need to cut him off, first by changing the password and second cut off any message forwarding to the bad guy if he set it up.  Just changing the password would keep a bad guy out, but if the bad guy set up a forward, he will still get your email.
    A confirmation from Apple would have come to your email address in order to confirm that Apple ID.  If you are getting the other person's purchase notifications, you would have gotten a confirmation of that account from Apple.

  • HT5312 I keep getting an email from Apple telling me that my Apple Id has been successfully reset when I did not reset them.  Started early June 2013 and in a month i have had to reset it three times. Apple support was not helpful.  Any suggestions?

    I keep getting an email from Apple telling me that my Apple Id has been successfully reset.  I did not reset it.  Since early June 2013 to now i have had to reset it 3 times.  It is not an easy one to remember either. Initally I thought it was some pfishing expedition but no purchases have been confirmed by my visa.  My kids use my Apple Id to download APs and I am informed when this happens.  Nothing strange happening on the financial site at all. Just frustrating as we have to keep updating the ID to use messenger, I cloud etc on all of the devices.  I called Apple Support and the girl initally said she knew nothing about this but then spoke to someone else and they are aware of this ongoing problem and are working on it.  Any suggestions? Are others having the same problems?

    If the system didn't ship with Mountain Lion originally and you didn't purchase Mountain Lion yourself, then you will need to purchase. A purchase by the system's original owner cannot be transferred to you.
    Unless you have another system on which you have purchased Mountain Lion, you will need to first install Mac OS X 10.6.8 on the iMac, for which you'll need either the original installation disks, if the iMac came with 10.6, or a retail copy of 10.6. Install 10.6 and upgrade to at least 10.6.6, and then you can buy Mountain Lion from the Mac App Store, presuming of course that the imac can support Mountain Lion. See:

  • Bounce Back Email Handling

    Gurus, is there some functionality in OCS, helping to handle bounce back email. If there isnt, is there any workaround for the issue. Thanks, Howard.

    Hi,
    OCS default install bounces back alot of mail as it rejects anything from a domain it cant do a reverse dns lookup on. This issue can be resolved with two patches
    these are 2863557 and 2864009(these patches are for core dumps but they do fix this issue). These need to be applied after all the other patches (patchset 1, webmail patches, and bundled patchsets). Let me know if you want further details of these.
    Hope this helps
    Thanks and Best Regards

  • Accidently deleted an email

    Hi,
    I just got my first BB (Bold 9700 on AT&T with BIS) and I accidently deleted an email I need. It was a reply to an email I received while away from my computer. I was using an AOL email and it doesn't show up in the "Sent" folder on my AOL account.
    So 2 questions:
    1. Is there any way to retrieve messages that are accidently deleted? (Is there a trash folder somewhere?)
    2. Is there any way to set my email to automatically save in the sent folder on the email account?
    Thanks for any help
    Jessica

    1. No, there is no trash folder.
    2. Some email on IMAP accounts (google, yahoo) will reconcile your sent mail to the webmail sent folder.

  • Where are the Bounced Back Emails?

    Pardon the cross-posting, since I didn't get any responses in the JavaMial Forum.
    ====================================
    Hi Java Gurus:
    My application sends emails using JavaMail API. I am not receiving any bounced back emails though. What do I have to do to get them? Here's my code:
         // Builds and mails the message
         public boolean mailEm()
              // Get system properties
              Properties props = System.getProperties();
              // Setup mail server
              props.put("mail.smtp.host", smtpHost);
              props.put("mail.smtp.auth", "true");
              // Get session
              Session session = Session.getInstance(props,
                         new MyAthenticator(System.getProperty("user.name"), ""));
              session.setDebug(true);
              // Define message
              MimeMessage message = new MimeMessage(session);
              // Build mail message and send
              try
                   // Create an internet address for sender
                   InternetAddress addrFROM=new InternetAddress(System.getProperty("user.name"));
                   // Build recipients list
                   int numRecipients = addresses.size();
                   InternetAddress[] address = new InternetAddress[numRecipients];
                   for (int ii = 0; ii < addresses.size(); ii++)
                        address[ii] = new InternetAddress((String)(addresses.get(ii)));
                   // Set message recipients
                  message.setRecipients(Message.RecipientType.TO, address);
                   // Set message sender
                   message.setFrom(addrFROM);
             Address[] addresses = new Address[1];
             addresses[0] = (Address) addrFROM;
             message.setReplyTo(addresses);
                   // Cycle for each file in the list
                   for (int ii = 0; ii < filesToMail.size(); ii++)
                        message.setSubject(subject + " (Email " + (ii+1) +
                                                      " of " + (filesToMail.size()) + ")");
                       // create and fill the first message part
                       MimeBodyPart mbp1 = new MimeBodyPart();
                       mbp1.setText(messageText);
                       // create the second message part
                       MimeBodyPart mbp2 = new MimeBodyPart();
                       // attach the file to the message
                      FileDataSource fds = new FileDataSource((File) filesToMail.get(ii));
                       mbp2.setDataHandler(new DataHandler(fds));
                       mbp2.setFileName(fds.getName());
                       // create the Multipart message and its parts to it
                       Multipart mp = new MimeMultipart();
                       mp.addBodyPart(mbp1);
                       mp.addBodyPart(mbp2);
                       // add the Multipart to the message
                       message.setContent(mp);
                       // set the Date: header
                       message.setSentDate(new Date());
                       // send the message
                        Transport transport = session.getTransport("smtp");
                        transport.connect(smtpHost, System.getProperty("user.name"), "");
                        transport.send(message);
              catch( Exception ex)
                   System.out.println(ex);
                   ex.printStackTrace();
             return false;
          return true;
         }

    exactely.. use the socket to connect to the SMTP server and send your message that way. Throw the API away. You can request for error e-mail and receipts and stuff when sending the "MAIL FROM:<email>" tihng.

    It is not available in Mail any longer (for quite a while, now).
    You can add a rule to have Mail mark them as junk, or you could possibly log onto your Email provider's web site and block that address.

    Welcome to the Apple community.
    This feature has been introduced to make stolen phones useless to those that have stolen them.
    However it can also arise when the user has changed their Apple ID details with Apple and not made the same changes to their iCloud account/Find My Phone on their device before upgrading to iOS 7, or if you restore from a previous back up made before you changed your details.
    The only solution is to change your Apple ID back to its previous state with Apple at My Apple ID, verify the changes, enter the password as requested on your device and then turn off "find my phone".
    You should then change your Apple ID back to its current state, verify it once again, delete the iCloud account from your device and then log back in using your current Apple ID. Finally, turn "find my phone" back on once again.

  • I keep getting "undelivered mail returned to sender" that comes with an attachment. I have not opened the attachment but the email returned is usually from people that i have not emailed in a long time.

    I keep getting "undelivered mail returned to sender" that comes with an attachment. i do not open the attachment but i get email returned from people that i have not emailed in years. I also have current people that tell me they receive email from me and there is nothing on the email and it is a repetative thing for them and for me. I have scanned my computer and it keeps telling me there are no viruses but i keep getting these emails. can anyone help me please!

    Someone is probably sending spam with your address forged on the To: line.  Could be one of your old contacts with a Windows machine has a virus that's doing it.  It's also possible your e-mail account has been hacked, though I'd think such a hacker would be a bit more purposeful.

    How do I "bounce" an email on iPad 2?  Received a "phishing" email out of Ghana, would like to "bounce" it back to sender.
    Thanx,       P. Comeau

    The current version of the Mail app on Mac OS X doesn't include a "bounce" feature either as it is largely useless. Most spam comes from either bogus address or ones that aren't monitored.
