HT1338 I can't Update my MBP Retina 13" to 10.8.2

Hi everyone. I just bought my Macbook Pro Retina 13" a few days ago. I can't update my software the to 10.8.2, my current software is 10.8.1.
And the update doesnt show on the app store or when i hit the apple logo then software update. Nothing shows that i should update it to 10.8.2
Though there is the iPhoto app that it should be updated but it wont start to update because my system is not yet 10.8.2.
Can anyone help me here how to update to 10.8.2?

About the only comfort that can be given at the moment is that it is not just you. See this thread for example: https://discussions.apple.com/message/20315602
There are a few people who are managing to install the update that was issued but subsequently revoked, but most are waiting and hoping that Apple will very soon issue an updated updater.

Sometimes, the OS X 10.8.3 App Store version gives problems. In your case, download and install 10.8.3 from the Support website > http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1640 It should update Mac OS X without any problem

Phone the online Apple Store and order a Mac OS X 10.6 DVD. If you want 10.7 but not 10.8, order a download code for it as well.

  • HT1338 I can't update iPhoto or iMovie on used Macbook Pro, the store asks me to log in with the Apple ID of the previous owner.

I bought this late 2011 Macbook Pro and can not update iPhoto or iMovie because the store asks me to log in with the previous owners Apple ID. What should I do? I don't want to purchase the apps.

I'm not sure on that. My macbook pro came with snow leopard. So If I was going to sell it, the person would have the os disk and the applications disk(iLife). I'm pretty sure that a computer that comes with Lion has the iLife apps tied to it through the mac app store regardless of how many different people own the computer (all you need is your own apple id). If I try to delete any of my iLife apps I get an error messege telling me it's not possible. There might be a way to do it with a terminal command, but that is way out of my league. Well this is a learning experience for everyone. If the person who sold you the computer said they did not have the Microsoft Office for mac disk or product key code, it should have brought your purchase price down a bit. I think the cheapest copy is about $120.  I'm sorry I can't help you with everything. Good Luck.

  • Can I use my MBP Retina to record a podcast?

    Hi everyone,
I have been asked to host a Podcast for a club I run. I have recorded videos and instructional demos etc on my MBP Retina before, but just using the onboard mic rather than anything external.
Myself on my own in a room worked perfectly.
Would I be able to have 3/4 fella's around the table, MBPR in the middle, hit record and then have all of us chatting through an agenda and record to a suitable level?
Without going to the expense of buying 1/2/3 external microphones I mean.

    Anybody?
    No?

  • HT1338 I can't update my mac? Why?

Every time I check for an update, it always said that there's no update. It's been a long time. I just didn't get to it. I now can't sync my Ipod to my mac, I can't install new apps on my mac because of it. Help!

The Mac App Store, which is referred to by the knowledgebase article HT1338 that this subject line is about did not become available until Mac OS X 10.6.6.
If you have 10.6.8, 10.7.5, 10.8.5, or 10.9.2 and have applied all the security updates to date, you likely are the end of the line of updates for your system for free updates.
    Security updates are outlined here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1222
You can take the name of the security update in question, and google
    name of update support.apple.com DL
And get the direct download link for the said update, if you are uncertain if you have the latest security update for your operating system.  If you want to update to the next stage of Mac OS X,
    from 10.6.x to 10.7
    from 10.6.x to 10.8
    from 10.6.x to 10.9
    from 10.7.x to 10.8
    from 10.7.x to 10.9
    from 10.8.x to 10.9

  • I can't update my MBP from 10.8.1 to 10.8.2

I recently bought a used MBP 13 (latest model) from Amazon.  I can't seem to get the update to install from 10.8.1 to 10.8.2.  I tried the manual download from the support pages and that won't work either.  When I do that it states:  OS X Update can't be installed on this disk.  This volume does not meet the requirements for this update.  Iphoto won't update because I need 10.8.2 for the update and going through software update just takes me to the app store and gives me the same error message.  I saw some posts a few months back where mac mini owners had this same problem but I can't find any discussiuons concerning my model.  Any help would be appreciated.

Then you need to contact Apple directly. Phone them. Or you could take it into an Apple Store and ask then to install the 10.8.2 update.

Upgrade Paths to Snow Leopard, Lion, and/or Mountain Lion
You can upgrade to Mountain Lion from Lion or directly from Snow Leopard. Mountain Lion can be downloaded from the Mac App Store for $19.99. To access the App Store you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.6 or later installed.
    Upgrading to Snow Leopard
You can purchase Snow Leopard through the Apple Store: Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard — Apple Store (U.S.). The price is $19.99 plus tax. You will be sent physical media by mail after placing your order.
After you install Snow Leopard you will have to download and install the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 to update Snow Leopard to 10.6.8 and give you access to the App Store. Access to the App Store enables you to download Mountain Lion if your computer meets the requirements.
         Snow Leopard General Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel processor
           2. 1GB of memory
           3. 5GB of available disk space
           4. DVD drive for installation
           5. Some features require a compatible Internet service provider;
               fees may apply.
           6. Some features require Apple’s iCloud services; fees and
               terms apply.
    Upgrading to Lion
If your computer does not meet the requirements to install Mountain Lion, it may still meet the requirements to install Lion.
You can purchase Lion by contacting Customer Service: Contacting Apple for support and service — this includes international calling numbers. The cost is $19.99 (as it was before) plus tax.  It's a download. You will get an email containing a redemption code that you then use at the Mac App Store to download Lion. Save a copy of that installer to your Downloads folder because the installer deletes itself at the end of the installation.
         Lion System Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7,
               or Xeon processor
           2. 2GB of memory
           3. OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
           4. 7GB of available space
           5. Some features require an Apple ID; terms apply.
    Upgrading to Mountain Lion
To upgrade to Mountain Lion you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8 or Lion installed. Purchase and download Mountain Lion from the App Store. Sign in using your Apple ID. Mountain Lion is $19.99 plus tax. The file is quite large, over 4 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.
OS X Mountain Lion — System Requirements
Macs that can be upgraded to OS X Mountain Lion
             1. iMac (Mid 2007 or newer) — Model Identifier 7,1 or later
             2. MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer) —
                 Model Identifier 5,1 or later
             3. MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             4. MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer) — Model Identifier 2,1 or later
             5. Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             6. Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             7. Xserve (Early 2009) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
To find the model identifier open System Profiler in the Utilities folder. It's displayed in the panel on the right.
    Are my applications compatible?
See App Compatibility Table — RoaringApps.
For a complete How-To introduction from Apple see Upgrade to OS X Mountain Lion.

Have you gone to the App Store and tried to download/install Mavericks?
To install Mavericks, you need one of these Macs:
    iMac (Mid-2007 or later)
MacBook (13-inch Aluminum, Late 2008), (13-inch, Early 2009 or later)

Mac mini (Early 2009 or later)
Mac Pro (Early 2008 or later)
    Xserve (Early 2009)
    Your Mac also needs:
OS X Mountain Lion, Lion, or Snow Leopard v10.6.8 already installed
2 GB or more of memory
8 GB or more of available space
