HT1338 I cannot empty my cache in safari as the tab is no longer available. How did it disappear?

Safari is getting very slow and I find I cannot empty my cash from the safari tab as it is no longer available? Is this now part of Lion?

No, it's part of Safari 6's changes. Just like the clear history, which does more than that (check the help files), unibar URL/search window, trying to get one thing to do multiple tasks (Apple being like a lemming and following the browser crowd), loss of the appearance pref and inability to change standard and fixed fonts and their sizes, and the utterly useless resizable tab bar spanning the entire browser window. None of these changes are due to the OS, just the iOSification of Safari.

You installed a hacked app, originally from the Mac App Store. It contains the receipt for a different app, downloaded using an account that you don't control. You need to identify and remove the hacked app.
Important: The app you need to remove is not necessarily the one named in the App Store notice. For example, if the App Store says you need to update "Twitter," the hacked app may be "Angry Birds" or something else entirely. Don't make any assumptions about which app you're looking for. To find it, you have to carry out a systematic search.
Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it:

Copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C).
In the Finder, press the key combination command-F to open a search window, or select

A sheet will drop down. In that sheet, select Raw Query and click OK or press return.

To see the complete list, you may need to unhide hidden purchases. If any apps were download from the App Store using other Apple ID accounts that you control, sign in to the store under each of those ID's and check the purchases.
At least one of the items listed in the search window is not among your purchases in the App Store. Move each such item to the Trash. You may be prompted for your administrator password. Empty the Trash.
Log out and log back in. Test.

First make sure you are searching the name correctly.
If the app is no longer in the App Store it is no longer available for download. This happens when Apple has found the app violates the agreement with the developer or when the developer no longer wants the app listed in the App Store.
If the app is truly no longer in the App Store your only option is to copy it from iTunes on the computer you normall sync with.

Windows: Choose Help > Check for Updates.
Mac: Choose iTunes > Check for Updates.

I saved my document as only .doc but not as a pages file and now I cannot edit anything and half the document looks incredibly screwed up, how did this happen?

I forgot to save the pages file, I do back up on time machine could a temporary file be in there somewhere? It was a 30+ page custom designed presentatiion that took me two weeks. i cannot believe I only saved it as PDF and .doc! My current theory is that I can only edit the document in pages as a pages file since that is what I had been doing. Please help if anyone has had this problem before or know how I can recover that screen I was working with a few days ago before I saved as a Word doc!!

Despite what Apple and its employees say Pages is not a 100% replacement for Word.
Pages files exported to .doc will have minor to major differences.
You should always have a Pages version. Exporting is only so non Mac and non Pages users may read it, and even there you should use .pdf to keep its appearance as close as possible to the original.
It sounds like you used a lot of Pages' features which turned out to not have Word equivalents.

Delete and redownload that application when signed into the correct Apple ID. This may require repurchasing it.

You are getting entagled in the two confusing meanings of the term pixels, namely as a unit identical to points and equalling 1/72 inch, and the basic component of raster images (and effects).

If you have iTunes 11 then you can enable the left-hand sidebar that used to show on previous versions via option-command-S on a Mac, control-S on a PC. You should then be able to transfer purchases and backup the phone by control-clicking on a Mac, right-clicking on a PC, the iPhone 'device' on that sidebar and selecting the relevant option on the popup that you should get.
Or you can do it via the File > Devices menu option at the top of iTunes (on iTunes 11 on a PC Alt-F should get the File menu to appear).

Hello royalaqua,
I do think you should ask yourself if upgrading to Lion is the right course to take.
Snow Leopard is an excellent OS and Lion has literally been frozen out after barely a year. Remember too that some of your apps may not work with Lion (those that have Rosetta, for example) so that could mean more new purchases. Plus you may need to uprate your RAM too.

It's not a good idea to post your email address on public forums, I've asked the hosts to remove them.
All content is tied to the account that downloaded them, and you can't currently transfer them to a different account. If you don't know the password to that account then you can try getting it reset via this page http://iforgot.apple.com . If you can't get it done that way then you can try getting access to the account by contacting iTunes Support : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page. If you get access to it you can then change the primary email account on it to one that you have access to : http://appleid.apple.com

I purchased Garageband. After a few months, I uninstalled my Garageband from my Ipad to try other music apps to compare. The reason I uninstalled it was because I had very little space on my Ipad. Didd you purchase GarageBand 1 or GarageBand 2? GarageBand 1 is indeed no longer available for purchase. If your purchased version is GarageBand 1, try to buy GarageBand 2 instead. It is free, but has less loops and instruments than GarageBand 1. To get all instruments back, you need to install the in-app purchase. When you see the purchase announced, click the tiny, nearly invisible link "Already purchased" at the bottom of the panel to reinstall for free.

Upgraded to Lion and now I cannot watch QuickTime videos in Safari 5.1. Did not have this problem in Snow Leopard. QuickTime videos do play in Firefox. I cannot even play QuickTime videos on Apple's own website. Any suggestions? I'm using a Macbook Core 2 Duo.

I have partially solved my problem. I had software installed for a Twelve South BassJump (it improves the sound of your laptop speakers). When I removed that software, I was able to play videos on Apple's website in Safari. The company has beta software available from their website that is supposed to be Lion compatible but when I installed that the problem returned. But even with that software removed I still cannot watch videos on some sites such as Other World Computing.
I just got a new Macbook Pro yesterday with Lion installed from Apple and all video plays fine. So I believe there must be some compatibilty issues with some plug-in. I have Perian and Flip4Mac installed. I removed 3ivx and the problem still remains. I've read conflicting opinions as to Perian being Lion compatible.
Everything works fine in Firefox at this point so at least I have that to fall back on.
Check your system preference pane under "other" and tell me if you have any of the plug-ins I mentioned installed. Maybe we will be able to see a common culprit.
