CD and DVD use different lasers so It's fairly common for one to fail and the other to work fine, that's part of what makes it so maddening. The slot loading drives aren't very robust to begin with, then Apple mounts them sideways and exposes them to the heat generated inside an iMac case. Honestly it's no wonder that they fail as often as they do. I was fortunate to still have AppleCare when mine failed but when/if it fails again I'm going to replace it with an SSD and get an external.

The Apple ID for future purchases is in Settings>Store>Apple ID. However, apps have to be updated using the Apple ID used to originally purchase them. This can't be changed. If the App store is asking you to provide a password for a different Apple ID when you are updating apps, it's because this ID was used to purchase it originally.

Activating Facetime and Imessages on your phone requires the ability to send SMS messages and depending upon where you are that might be an international SMS. Check with your carrier to see if your plan supports sending of international SMS messages. If you are having trouble activating Facetime or Imessages turn them both off on your device and reset the device (Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the home button together until the apple logo appears (ignore the ON/OFF slider) then let both buttons go and wait for device to restart (no data will be lost)). Wait for the device to restart and wait a minute and turn Facetime and imessage back on and wait for activation. If that does not fix things read the following articles:

Your Desktop Picture settings and Dock items are stored in the files
/Users/your short user name/Library/Preferences/com.apple.desktop.plist and
/Users/your short user name/Library/Preferences/com.apple.dock.plist
in the "Preferences" folder in your user library. This looks like the system has trouble to write to these files. Check the permissions on your user library and remove the above files from your user library, then log off and on again.
Your user library is hidden in Lion and Mt. Lion. To reveal it, use the Finder's "Go" menu. Select "Go" in the Finder's main menu bar and hold down the alt/option key, until you see the "Library" in the drop-down menu. Double click it to open a Finder window, so you can browse the files inside.

Im wondering why my post hasn't been answered yet. I did file a report with the BBB and I had a rude representative from Verizon call me named Steve. He said I can file all of the reports I want and I will just keep getting calls from him. I can understand why my phone couldn't be replaced because of the small crack. I guess I have to eat that one (but it sucks because the lollipop update is what caused the problems) but what about all of the data overage I had to pay for for trying to fix this phone because of a lollipop update. I dont think it is fair to have to pay that as well. In addition, because I have an east coast phone number but live on the west coast, I cannot have tech support after 8pm. Verizon has cut this off. Prepaid accounts don't have Account Owners/Managers, they just have Account Members (and prepaid accounts have less options regarding changes via their My Verizon account as a result).

If it says "Delivered" under it to begin with, then you're not sending it as an MMS, you're sending it as an iMessage. It's entirely possible the problem is on the receiving end.
