The first step in Upgrading... is to Snow Leopard = OS X 10.6.x
It is Not available as a download... It is a Paid Upgrade.
Do this first...

Please allow me to make a suggestion -- I looked on the Skype site regarding system requirements for Osx.
Accordingly, they list 10.5 as an acceptible operating system for their application. In your case I would seriously consider Skype over FaceTime. I don't think it's worth all the effort to go through the headaches such an upgrade can cause, just to be able to use FT.

First, you need Snow Leopard (10.6): http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573Z/A. Then you use Software Update to update it to 10.6.8. When Mountain Lion (10.8) comes out, find it in the Mac App Store.

You need to buy an upgrade if one is compatible with your Mac model.
PowerPC G3 Macs can only go to 10.4.11.
PowerPC G4 and G5 Macs can only go to 10.5.8.
Macs with a Core Solo or Core Duo CPU can only go to 10.6.8.
Core 2 Duo and better Macs can go to 10.7.5 or 10.8.3 depending on their model. Upgrading to either requires going through 10.6.

You can share it with other Macs under your control (not your neighbor's). You just need to be logged in under the buying AppleID for updates or to download again.

You can upgrade to 10.8.5 combo without losing too much compatibility, and that operating system does offer more security updates than under 10.8.1 alone. Verify with any software you do have working that it has been tested under 10.8.5. Tweaks may make some software fail. 10.9 and 10.10 are different enough that I wouldn't upgrade unless you are willing to handle interface changes and greater changes in compatibility. When setting up outlook, we are trying to connect to a mailbox on exchange server 2007. We put in the EWS details in the server field since our autodiscover function is not functioning. But still it doesn't work. There are no errors, no popups. We turned on the logging and in the logs, it says a error of -3259. We are stuck and any help will be really appreciated.

I have a customer experiencing exactly the same issue. Their computer is running Windows 7 Pro with Office 2007 SP3. After seemingly exhausting all troubleshooting options, I backed up their data, formatted the hard drive and performed a clean install of
Windows and all their applications. It didn't solve the problem!
What's strange is the customer also has a laptop computer, running the same version of Outlook, and that doesn't experience any problems connecting to Office 365 on the same network.
My next step is to send the customer a new ADSL modem/router to try.
I have another customer on Office 365, also running Outlook 2007, and they also experience issues with emails sitting in the outbox while Outlook displays the status message “Outlook is trying to retrieve data from the Microsoft exchange server outlook.office365.com.”
In this case Outlook doesn't freeze/stop responding, like it does for the first customer I mentioned.

You should use Airport Utility, in your Utilities folder (or you can search for it in Spotlight, the magnifying glass in the top right of your screen) to administer the Airport. There, you can change the wireless network settings, including the network name.
