HT1338 I have just bought an iphone 5 but I can't sync as my mac and itunes are not compatible: I have loaded on the new software available, any idea's???

I have a mac mini 10.5.8 It is a little old and will not support the new iphone 5 for syncing etc.
Do I need to purchase new software i.e. snow leopard or can I download something that will allow me to get the new itunes etc????

Syncing your iPhone 5 with iTunes will require Mac: OS X v10.6.8 or later. You should be able to purchase Mac OS X 10.6 via the link below.

I am experiencing the same issue with a new external DVD burner, a Sony DRX-840U. When I load a CD into this external drive it appears in iTunes but when you go to import or play the CD iTunes indicates playing or importing for each individual track for just a moment. The end result is that nothing is ever imported or played. I am experiencing this on two different systems. One a notebook running Win2K and the other a desktop running XPpro. If I use the internal DVD drives on either of these systems everything work just fine. Yet I am able to use this new external DVD drive with every other application. For example Window Media Player has no problem playing or importing the same CD that iTunes fails on. The last person indicated that if one set the DVD drive in question to be the drive of choice under preferences>advanced>burning that all was ok. I my case this Sony external drive is the drive listed as the drive of choice for burning yet the issue still exists.
As this appears to be an issue that others are also experiencing help from Apple Tech Support would be greatly appreciated.

Can you just try to re-install pse. If you have downloaded it from any source, try to download it again and then re-install it.

Reboot your iPhone (press and hold sleep and home button until turns off and appear the Apple logo. Then try it again.
If the problem persists, check if you have Restrictions on in your iPhone.
And, how do you insert contacts in your iPhone before? Is your contacts imported from Outlook, email account or something like this? If you have imported contacts from Outlook or email account, it maybe cannot allow you to erase/edit your contacts.

Press and hold Home until it beeps.
Then let go and speak. Or contune to hold and speak and let go when finished speaking.

If you get error message that can't contact the activationserverr try the following. They are for the update sever but may work for activation server.
Try:
- Powering off and then back on your router.
- iTunes for Windows: iTunes cannot contact the iPhone, iPad, or iPod software update server
- Change the DNS to either Google's or Open DNS servers
Public DNS — Google Developers
OpenDNS IP Addresses
- For one user uninstalling/reinstalling iTunes resolved the problem
- Try on another computer/network
- Wait if it is an Apple problem The follow repots no Apple problem

AirPlay Mirroring requires a second-generation Apple TV or later, OS X 10.8 or better and is supported on the following Mac models: iMac (Mid 2011 or newer), Mac mini (Mid 2011 or newer), MacBook Air (Mid 2011 or newer), and MacBook Pro (Early 2011 or newer). It also requires the computer to be using wi-fi.

Take it to the Apple Store for evaluation.
Try this.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the Sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut Off. To power up hold the Sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time (for about 10-15 seconds) until the Apple logo appears (ignore the red slider), then let go of the buttons.

Question # 1 is what do you mean by "inherited"? Is this a case where the computer belonged to someone else? Your user would not be entitled to use a program licensed to someone else.

Assuming you have windows, try uninstalling iTunes and all of its components as by following this guide exactly: Windows XP or Windows Vista/7, then reinstall iTunes. You must follow this guide exactly or it will not be successful. Note: uninstalling iTunes will only remove the application; it will not touch your iTunes library or data.

Go to Settings>General>Reset>Erase All Content and Settings. This will return it to its new out of the box condition. Go through the setup screens again and you will be given the option to restore from a previous iTunes or iCloud backup (see http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2109).
