HT1338 I have updated my new MacBook Pro for HP Photosmart All-in-One, but it still will not scan - it will print, but will not scan. How can I fix this?

I have installed the updates for my HP Photosmart All-in-One c309a.  It prints, but will not scan.  Tells me to update - I did that, but still won't scan.  Any suggestions to make the scanner work?
This all worked perfectly with my old 2008 MacBook Pro.

Have you tried scanning from Image Capture or Preview?
A current driver is shown to be available for Mavericks (auto-downloaded):

But many people have found that manufacturer scanning control software doesn't work. They have to use the Apple-provided software.
