There are no more updates for Java from Apple for 10.5.8, the only way to get a Java upgrade is updating your OSX.

I plugged my iPad to my computer this morning and it said there was a new version of IOS available. Tried to install.
Install failed.
Now itunes won't open: "The program can't start because MSVCR80.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem."
Went to www.itunes.com, downloaded and tried to install. Install failis saying I need to verify that I have credentials to run the program. Choices: Abort, Try again, Ignore. Needless to say the only choice that works in Abort, so I can't connect my iPad to iTunes.
Is there a way to uninstall the program and then try again?

When I start my computer (Windows) I find a message window on my Home Page (AOL) that tells me somethinglike "It is recommended that you up-date your software to Firefox 4.0 (?)". When I click on the button to up-date, it tells me that it is "connecting to server". Then I watch as the green "up-dating" bars flit across the screen...and flit across the screen...and flit across the screen...and it just keeps going.
Then I click on a button that says "Hide", assuming that the up-date is continuing to do its magic while I am busy elsewhere. This gives me a minimized button that is labelled "Software Update". When I click on that to maximize it again, I find that the "connecting to update server" just keeps going...and going...and going............. Finally I just cancel the whole process.......until next time I go online and the same window tells me to update my software.* Download a new copy of the Firefox program: http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/all.html
* Trash the current Firefox application to do a clean (re-)install.
* Install the new version that you have downloaded.

I can receive gifts under requests and every game I try crashes. I can usually read my homepage. this is getting really bad. I have cleared caches,downloaded what I am told to download to update, and cleared history and cookies and still happens , and have been told to get rid of firefox. what is the problem? and when I sent reports , nothing. and sent emails to all the games and told them and asked for help and never get responses. should I through the computer out the window, or delete you? I know they keep changing things on the games and that usually crashes stuff on mine, but all the time? this sucks. and I probably won't get a response from you either,but if this continues I will have to say, bye bye.It's ridiculous..before the crashes, it would take me over 2 hours to do a game and work on it. there was life before this and will be afterwards. it also happens on my regular email..not the crashing, but so slow and the download goes up and goes way down to almost nothing and keeps doing that.please help us all..thanks.

Usually if it says your Apple ID is not an iCloud account, that means you have not yet enabled your Apple ID as an iCloud account. So you did set it up correctly on your iPod touch?

When opening Itunes, after placing my ID and password, I'm getting a message that indicates "Itunes has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working. Windows will close the program and will notify you if a solution is available. But I never get a response. Can somebody help?
Same exact thing with me. And no help from apple. Just dropped nearly $600 and cannot get a decent working setup.
Apple's only suggestion was to uninstall iTunes and Quicktime, and re-install... of course (the I.T. Crowd tactic).
The crash happens only on iTunes store access. -

When downloading a pdf file I get a message that I must download Adobe Reader. When I do that I am told that it is already installed. Why can't I use it if it's already installed. I-Mac OsX 9.3

I was able to fix the problem with some help from Apple. Whenever I last downloaded Reader, I apparently didn’t complete the process by accepting the Reader contract. I was able to go right to that point in the process and complete the installation. The messages that I needed Reader but it was already installed were quite confusing. It would have been nice if the Adobe installation process that I was re-trying this morning had been able to detect a partial installation. The Troubleshooting page almost had me doing some ridiculous things that wouldn’t have helped.

I just restored my ipad and now when I connect it, I get a message that says itunes dected an ipad but doesn't recongnise it. it then tells me to unplug the ipad and plug it in again.l I do that and get the same message.
have you tried a different usb port? for the **** of it try restarting the computer as well

why I can't make a purchase on other itunes store I always get a message that "this account name can only make a purchase from the Qatari store" when I tried to change the store since the product is not available or only available in USA or Philippines
just call them...i bought my PB when it came out...but I had an issue recently and called them up and they helped me out....

i tried for update but when i saw the screen its showing an arrow with a USB cable towards itunes icon, and now i'm not able to do anything, i also tried to connect ipad through my laptop but no use
That message means that you have to restore the iPad now. There was a problem with the update. So connect the iPad to your computer and restore your iPad.

Disconnect the USB cable from the iPad, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
Turn off iPad: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for iPad to turn off.
If you cannot turn off iPad using the slider, press and hold the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons at the same time. When the iPad turns off, release the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons.
While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to iPad. When you reconnect the USB cable, iPad should power on.
Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen. When this screen appears you can release the Home button.
If necessary, open iTunes. You should see the recovery mode alert that iTunes has detected an iPad in recovery mode.
Use iTunes to restore iPad.
