If you update via iTunes yo need iTunes 11.1 or later and that requires OSX 10.6.8 or later which requires a Mac with an Intel processor

I update my ipod touch 5th gen, and then after I download the update(IOS 8.1.2). I click the update button and of course the screen went black. After that, I can't open my ipod even I plug it to my charger.
    Please.. I really need help..

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

I can't update my ipod touch 1g to 3.1.1. I am using MAC lion latest version and the latest version of itunes. Also, I didn't install any security programs. Every time I try to download the update files an error show saying an error occurred 8288.

  • I'm updating my iPod Touch 5th Gen and it says "Connect to iTunes" and I have, but nothing happens.

Okay, so, I unlocked my iPod and it said an update was available, so I tapped install. It wasn't connected to a power source, and I didn't think it'd make any difference if I was or not. So, I tapped it, blah, blah, blah, and then it said to connect to iTunes. So, I did, but my laptop didn't make the noise it usually does when I plug in the USB cable, so I tried it over and over again, but still the same result. I've updated iTunes to the newest version, and nothing happened still. So I decided to just cancel the update. But, now, "Connect to iTunes" will not go away from my screen no matter what I try. I've tried looking for solutions online, but none help. So, if someone could PLEASE help me fix this.

Placing your device into recovery (DFU-Device Firmware Upgrade) mode:
Follow these steps to place your iOS device into recovery mode. If your iOS device is already in recovery mode, you can proceed immediately to step 6.
       1. Disconnect the USB cable from the iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, but leave the
other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
       2. Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds
until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off.
                  * If you cannot turn off the device using the slider, press and hold the
Sleep/Wake and Home buttons at the same time. When the device turns off,
release the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons.
      3. While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the
device. The device should turn on. Note: If you see the battery charge warning,
let the device charge for at least ten minutes to ensure that the battery has some
charge, and then start with step 2 again.
      4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen.
When this screen appears you can release the Home button:
      5. If necessary, open iTunes. You should see the following "recovery mode" alert:
      6. Use iTunes to restore the device.
If you don't see the "Connect to iTunes" screen, try these steps again. If you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen but the device does not appear in iTunes, see this article and its related links.
Note: When using recovery mode, you can only restore the device. All user content on the device will be erased, but if you had previously synced with iTunes on this computer, you can restore from a previous backup. See this article for more information.

  • Hi! i need help in updating my ipod touch 1st generation to an ios 3.

please help in what i should do....i have no idea.

    Hi emilyC,
Make sure that all of your software (operating system, iTunes) are up-to-date, connect your iPod to your computer, open iTunes and you should get a prompt asking if you want to update your software. Just follow the prompts from there.
Before doing the update I would recommend creating a backup http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1766 and transfer any purchases http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1848

Upgrading to Snow Leopard = OS X 10.6.x
It is Not available as a download... It is a Paid Upgrade.
    Do this first...
Check that your Mac meets the System Requirements for Snow Leopard...
    Snow Leopard Tech Specs
    http://support.apple.com/kb/SP575
If so... Purchase a Snow Leopard Install Disc...
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573Z/A/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard
    Other countries...
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HE57
After the Successful Install, run Software Update to get the latest updates for Snow Leopard and iTunes.
You should now be able to Sync.
Be sure to make a Backup of your Current System Before Upgrading...

  • IPod Touch 5th Gen. Not Charging!

    Hello darlings,
ill just cut to the chase with what i need help with! My ipod touch 5th generation, which ive had for nearly 4 months now no longer charges! When i plug it into a wall socket it doesnt charge, when i plug it into my laptop it doesnt charge, it just doesnt charge. Well, heres the creepy thing it sort of charges even though it doesnt show its charging. Im thinking its because the cord is still getting the electricity and is transferring it to the ipod but the lightning outlet(bottom of ipod) is just having connection problems. I used to be able to blow in the lightning connector a little bit and it would charge, then i had to start sucking out a bit and blow then it would charge, kind of like i was getting dust/lint out of it, but now nothing works. I cant connect iit to my laptop, which i have to do because i am sending my ipod to apple and wantmy photos off before it is wiped clean. So in other words it is charging(REALLY slowly) but is having connectivity problems. PLEASE HELP!
**I dont think water damage is the cause**

    - See:
    iPod touch: Hardware troubleshooting
    - Try another cable. Some 5G iPods were shipped with Lightning cable that were either initially defective or failed after short use.
    - Try another charging source
    - Inspect the dock connector on the iPod for bent or missing contacts, foreign material, corroded contacts, broken, missing or cracked plastic.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

  • IPod touch (5th Gen) will not work in my 2013 GMC when connected via USB since I upgraded to iOS 8.2

I recently updated my iPod touch 5th Gen to iOS 8.2.  I use it to play music in my 2013 GMC via USB connection.  Now, when my vehicle's system "detects" my device, it starts playing the song and after about two seconds it just quits.  Help, please.

Sometimes this works but sometimes an iOS update breaks compatibility, Fir the latter you have to wait for an update to the iOS or the firmware for the car system
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset the car system
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

  • IPod Touch (5th Gen) Battery Won't Hold Charge

After the last update my iPod Touch 5th Gen will not hold a charge. I haven't had any problems with it until this 8.1.1 update. Yesterday I charged the battery up to full charge and  used it briefly to listen to music in my car however here it is the next day and the battery is dead again. It is NOT playing while not in my car. Meaning nothing should be running the battery down because it's not being used.  I know it's not playing because the volume is set to half way so I'd undoubtedly hear it if it was playing.  It just won't hold a charge and for no apparent reason. Any suggestions?

  • IPod Touch 5th Gen w/iOS 7.0.2 - Delayed 'Passcode' Lock Entry Issue

    Hi,
This evening I've updated my iPod Touch 5th Gen from iOS 6.1.3 to iOS 7.0.2 via the 'Over the Air' method, which went well initialy.
Following using the device, upgrading all of the apps and performing a couple of backups to iCloud, I have noticed that there is an issue with entering of the 'Passcode Lock' code to unlock the device.  There is a 25 to 30 second delay in me pressing a digit key on the 'Unlock' screen and the screen registering that I've entered a key.  Has anyone else experienced this?
I assume that this is an issue brought about due to the security fix that has been implemented within the iOS 7.0.2 update.  I am about to submit a Bug Report to Apple regarding this.
At present, I have upgrading both of my iPhone 4S and the iPad 3rd Gen devices to iOS 7.0 and they experience no issues at all - working fine.  I guess I will hold off upgrading these two devices at the moment.

I've been playing with the iPod, namely attempting to type text - all applications are affected.  I hadn't been typing text when I was playing with it.  I think the keyboard libraries have been corrupted.
I have updated tge Bug Report and will plan to wipe and restore device using iTunes 11.1.  If this is successfull, will use the same approach for the other devices.

after i've updated my ipod touch 5th gen to iOS 6.0.1 , the option to tweet or update fb status direct from the notification center has disappeared. why is this happening? is it normal?

Do you have this problem with all networks or only your network? If only your network that points to a problem with your network.
Have you powered off and then back on your router?
