HT1338 iCloud and Safari with my iMac

When logging on to iCloud, I am told that I should upgrade to Safari 6.0. I am currently running Safari 4.0. When following the prompts for software update, no updates are available. Any advice?Icloud and Safari with my Imac

To use iCloud you need to upgrade to Mountain Lion.
Start by checking if you can run Snow Leopard:

I cannot log into systems preferences for icloud on my imac. icloud works on all devices including the imac, but I get the window "You can't sign in at this time" when using system preferences on the imac. I am using mountain lion, but it didn't work on lion either. Help

You may wish to try the following:
1. Sign out of your account
(If you are unable to do this because System Preferences has frozen, Force Quit System Preferences and try again)
2. When prompted, opt to delete, contacts, calendars etc from your Mac.
(You are only deleting this data from your Mac, not from iCloud, the data will be reinstated when you log back in. If you need to check that the data is in iCloud before deleting it go to iCloud.com and check each section for data)
3. Having logged out, check that the iCloud accounts along with their data have disappeared from the Mail, Address Book and iCal Applications.
(If necessary, delete the iCloud accounts from each of these application separately from each Applications Preferences)
4. At this point it may be worth trying to log into iCloud from the System Preferences iCloud settings again, if this works, all well and good, if it doesn't continue to step 5.
5. Open your User Library folder in the Finder. (When in the Finder, go to the Go menu, hold down the option key (alt) and choose Library when it appears in the Go menu)
6. Navigate to Library > Application Support > iCloud and drag the iCloud folder to your desktop. (This action only copies the folder and will provide you with a back up)
7. Select the iCloud folder again in Library > Application Support and drag it to the trash, enter your administrators password when prompted.
8. Restart your computer.
9. You should now be able to enter your ID and Password in system Preferences > iCloud and log into your account. Check the services you wish to use and once you are satisfied it's working as it should, trashh the iCloud folder you copied to your desktop earlier.

ICloud and Safari 5.1.10 on SnowLeopard

Well:
There aren't iCloud support for SnowLeopard. Bad thing it is. Then I use the web based iCloud service to view and download contacts and other tasks to mi old MacBook Pro Duo Core.
Well, since days ago, I find a great surprise when try to see the Contacts, Mail and other staff in my MBP.
Safari sen an error and DO NOT OPEN THE PAGE. It is incredible, because I can open it with Fire Fox. Then is not a System or Hardware problem. Also I tried to open it using the ROOT User, but happens the same. SAFARI 5.1.10 send and error and quits

You can share Mail, Calendars, and Contacts running Snow Leopard. Based on my experience, I don’t recommend syncing Contacts - created a lot of problems with duplicates. I am unable to load the newest itunes update to my 10.5.8 osx. The update requires 10.6 so this makes me unable to sync my updated phone and ipad with my imac. Solutions?

You need to buy a Mac OS X 10.6 DVD and run the 10.6.8 combo updater.

HT1386 iCloud and syncing with iPod

I purchased iCloud to use as a back up for my iPod music library. Now I can no longer access my music. My music is in my computer library but when I try syncing it to my phone, only the titles show up. When I click on a song, it is no longer highlighted and will not play. Maybe I misunderstood iCloud and how it works. I didn't want to actually store all my music and have to have Wi-Fi available to play it. That would not be possible if you are traveling in a car with no access to Wi-Fi. I thought iCloud would just back up my music in case my computer crashed.
Anyone know how I can get my music to play on my iPod now?

I have just starting using iCloud and noticed on my wife's computer that we now share all our bookmarks and tabs on Safari. Any way to change that if we are using the same iCloud account. If we need to use seperate accounts, how can we share iCal and contacts?

When I have a Safari window open and then open mail, the Mail window becomes active but the Safari window remains on the desktop. Does yours minimize to the Dock?

Bookmarks with iCloud and Safari 5.1.7 version Windows

Hi,
I use iCloud to shared bookmarks with Safari between my Mac and my iPhone, but in the work I use Windows 7 and I need to view my bookmarks with Safari.
I downloaded the control panel iCloud for Windows but the application cannot support to shared bookmarks with Safari 5.7.1. but with IE and Firefox y I had not any problem.
Is possible to use iCloud bookmarks with Safari 5.1.7 in Windows?.

Not to Me Too it, but I can't believe we're the only ones who are having this issue.
I have iCloud bookmarks and hte reading list working on all my Mac and iOS devices, but at work, the bookmarks are outdated and the reading list is totall off. Beleive it's only the items I've added from my work PC.
What's more, the iCloud control panel only allows you to setup the sync with IE, FireFox or Chrome. Seems a huge omission that Apple would not support their own browser.

How can I sync my Ipad contacts and calendars with my Imac? Can I go back to previous OS?

The main use of our Imac for my OH has been spoilt with the new operating system. He is getting a message "moving calendars to serveraccount" and it is taking hours to do. He used to sync easily by cable.

Instead of reverting to the previous OS X, use iCloud > Learn how to set up iCloud on all your devices.

Merging icloud and safari bookmarks

I have an iphone and ipad which are connected to icloud. I also have a mac running osx 10.6 which can't sync with icloud that has some different bookmarks in safari. I'd like to get the bookmarks from my mac to merge with the one I have in my icloud account, how should I go about doing that? I'm just a bit worried the ones on my mac might get lost if I connect my iphone to itunes and sync that way.

Not to Me Too it, but I can't believe we're the only ones who are having this issue.
I have iCloud bookmarks and hte reading list working on all my Mac and iOS devices, but at work, the bookmarks are outdated and the reading list is totall off. Beleive it's only the items I've added from my work PC.
What's more, the iCloud control panel only allows you to setup the sync with IE, FireFox or Chrome. Seems a huge omission that Apple would not support their own browser.

Premiere Pro CC 2014 playback freezing and crashing with new iMac i7

Using Premiere Pro CC 2014 and having constant playback freezing and software crashes on a brand new iMac i7.
Here are the specs:
iMac i7 4.0GHz 5k Retina
32 GB Ram
AMD Radeon R9 M295X 4GB graphics card
512GB Solid State Drive
I was on chat yesterday with an Adobe tech. Although playback/render settings show the OpenCL option to utilize the AMD graphics card for processing, I was advised to switch to "Software Only" as that card is not supported yet. I had to re-render my 45 minute documentary (which doesn't appear to be any faster than it was on my old 2011 iMac by the way) and it still has the same issues.
So frustrating? Anyone else experiencing this? Any advice? I hope I didn't just buy this "super machine" in vein.

Taking some tips from Kevin Monahan. If you haven't already gone through this list please do so.
Sign out from Creative Cloud, restart Premiere Pro, then sign in
Update any GPU drivers
Trash preferences
Ensure Adobe preference files are set to read/write
Delete media cache
Remove plug-ins
If you have AMD GPUs, make sure CUDA is not installed
Repair permissions
In Sequence Settings > Video Previews, change the codec to one that matches your footage
Disconnect any third party hardware
If you have a CUDA GPU, ensure that the Mercury Playback Engine is set to CUDA, not OpenCL
Disable App Nap
Reboot

How Do You View PHP in DW and Safari with a MAMP Server?

It almost works! I have just installed and set up MAMP. I haven't made a MySQL database and user account yet, (I'm not sure if it will make any difference if I do) but I followed the instructions - http://www.adobe.com/devnet/dreamweaver/articles/setup_php.html - up to that point. And I have had a problem!
The test file in the exercise is a php file which tells you the time, it works in dreamweaver (when you select live view) But when you put the file into a browser it does not work! What is going wrong here? Can anybody help?
Also, my other php files display in Dreamweaver live view but not in either browser (Safari or Firefox)!! Annoying!
