HT1338 if I purchased the OS X Mountain Lion for my 27" IMac do I have to purchase another one for my MacBook Pro

I purchased both 27" iMac and MacBook Pro on March 2012 wth Lion OS installed.  I just upgraded to the OS X Mountain Lion for my iMac and was wondering whether I have to pay again for the upgrade for my MBP?

no you do not need to purchase it again.  You can install it on multiple macs you own.  Sign in to the app store with the apple id used to purchase ML on the mac(s) you wish to install it on.  Hold down the option key and click on the purchases tab and click "download" next to ML.

I have purchases the OS X Mountain Lion on Apr 7  and it keep telling me to download I have gone though this 5 time. That i'm i doing wrong. it say it is installed But when i go to back to where my apps are it say to download and that is the only one that as it on there..Can you help..

The Mt Lion installer deletes itself from your Apps folder when it has finished the installation. It is available to download again should you ever need it, such as to install on one of your other qualifying Macs. You don't have to continue to download it and install, it's installed.
Is there something else going on?

  • Why can't the finder in Mountain Lion 10.8.2 find files that have successfully downloaded, or that other programs can find?

Why can't the finder in Mountain Lion 10.8.2 find files that have successfully downloaded, or that other programs can find?
This happens with maybe 1 out of 5 files. These are files that have either an ."aa" extention, or or are libraries that icloud can see, but finder can't.

Files beginning with a period are invisible and library files are system files. Spotlight cannot find either unless configured to do so (btw, this is not a Finder issue but a Spotlight issue.)
Get Spotlight to search system files (and more)
Enter the search term in the Finder window's search field.
Click the [+] button in the search bar to add a search option.
In the first drop down menu choose Other.
Choose “System Files” from the list that pops up (and check the box to place in drop down menu to avoid this step later,) click on the OK button.
Now back in the Finder choose Include from the second drop down menu.

  • I seem to have 2 Apple IDs, one on my MacBook Pro and another on my devices.  If I switch from MobileMe to iCloud on my Mac (under the apple logo) will my devices work and sync in iCloud.  I have no idea how I go 2 IDs

Can I get rid of one  ID?  How do I do that?

    one on my MacBook Pro
That's not an Apple ID. That is your admin account which you can view in System Preferencs > Accounts or Users & Groups.
If I switch from MobileMe to iCloud on my Mac (under the apple logo) will my devices work and sync in iCloud.  I have no idea how I go 2 IDs
Just use your current Apple ID when you setup your iCloud account that you use for your devices.
Apple - iCloud - Learn how to set up iCloud on all your devices.

  • I already purchased the OS X Mountain Lion via App Store, why is it i cannot download it?, I already purchased the OS X Mountain Lion via App Store, why is it i cannot download it?

I have macbook air (11 inch, mid 2011) with the latest version 10.7.5, with Mac OS X Lion, so i've decided to upgrade it to mountain lion, but why cant I download it? The mountain lion icon appeared in my launchpad but the download does not push through. Why is that so? Thanks for your help.

For effective and efficient use of your cxomputer the hard drive should always have at least 15% of its storage capacity Free, to use for swap files and OS management.  If you only have 33 GB's free, that sounds a little iffy.  I would start by trying to free up some space, then go from there in your troubleshooting.
    Hope this helps

  • Is it possible to repurchase the OS X Mountain Lion after erasing Mac HD?

I had thought I already purchased the OS X Mountain Lion before on this apple account, but it appears not. I am trying to reboot my mac and already erased the Hard Drive and found out I do not have it on this account. I then asked my parents if I purchased on their apple account, but they do not remember the email they used for the account, so I am not able to retrieve it. Is there a way to repurchase the OS X Mountain Lion. I do not have the original installation disc either unfortunately. I am right now using my friend's PC to find a way to make the purchase, but it is saying I need to make the purchase using the Mac App Store. Please help me.

I didn't check before erasing the hard drive and I can't go the Mac App Store now to check.
The Mac was originally an old friend who sold it to me back in 2011, the Mac is a 2010 model. My Mac was experiencing some problems, such as when I would open safari, it would keep popping up to keychain was not set up and asking to set default. I followed the guides that people posted in the discussion section and it still didn't work as well as itunes and most apps did not want to open properly and took a while to access. The warrenty on my mac is obviously well over expired and didn't want to go pay money to find out that it needed to be "rebooted", so I decided to do it my self.
I shut off the computer and held down option key as stated in the user manual, and followed the process. I went to utility disc and erased the Mac HD and then when I went to the reinstall OS X Mountain Lion button, it wouldn't let me and that is when I realized it wasn't purchased on this account. There is an option that says "reinstall OS X Mountain Lion". Does that mean I just need to repurchase the OS X Mountain Lion? I did not know I would need to purchase Snow Leopard or Lion. This is the first time I am doing this as well. If i do need to purchase Snow Leopard or Lion, how will I do this?

how can i get mountain lion reinstalled if my mac says apple id never purchased? hd failed 2 wks after wty expired, I am the original owner, put another hd in, done command-r & sys reinstalled, but it wanted to update & now am stuck. I don't mind paying for mountain lion; it is too far to get to an apple store. but, i only have one mac, so i cannot download with another mac. lots of other apple, but only one mac.

You will need to do a network recovery:
    Install Lion/Mountain Lion on a New HDD/SDD
Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.
Boot to the Internet Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND-OPTION- R keys until a globe appears on the screen. Wait patiently - 15-20 minutes - until the Recovery main menu appears.
Partition and Format the hard drive:
    1. Select Disk Utility from the main menu and click on the Continue button.
    2. After DU loads select your external hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
    3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed. Quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion: Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion and click on the Install button. Be sure to select the correct drive to use if you have more than one.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.

There is nothing to overcome, your mac is too old to run Mountain Lion.  For an iMac it must be a (Mid 2007 or newer)  http://www.apple.com/osx/specs/

  • HT1338 I cannot download from the app store Mountain Lion to my MacBook pro 17" why?

hi I keep getting the message "We could not complete your purchase. OS X Mountain Lion is not compatible with this computer." Yet my macBook is from mid 2007. Any surgestions?

Well if the store is telling you it is not compatable it must be seeing something. As your system is right at the lower edge, mid 2007's are the first modles shown supported. it is possible that you sysm might have been manufactured before the cutoff date.
Go to About this Mac and  then System Report post all the info for hardware overview except for serial number and uuid.
