HT1338 imac 10.7.5 crashes with skype, imovie etc

+ iphoto +adobe++++++++

Hi all,
I like to give an update to my old discussion: partly solved.
1#
I do not have issues any more with endless bootup - solved by repairing access rights from time to time
2#
I still do have the issue that my iMac is hanging from time to time (matter of hours). Usually no kernel panic or anything I can hook on, but mouse and iTunes keep on moving and playing. I have lately updated to 10.9. Same issue. So it must be HW. Unfortunately.

I'm able to start up Skype for about 5 seconds before it locks and gives a "Stopped responding" prompt. I have checked from mobile, and no one has sent me the corrupted message everyone is talking about. Steps taken so far:Reinstalled SkypeUpdated Skype to current versionUpdated WindowsUsed cmd prompt to fix corrupted filesReset Skype settingsRestarted computerInstalled current version of Flash ActiveXI'm attaching my DxDiag. I am getting increasingly frustrated and would like to get this issue fixed before I uninstall Skype and give up on Microsoft's "help" altogether.

You have several Virtual Video Capture devices installed, and they may conflict with Skype. Video Capture Sources:WebCam SCB-0380M,0x00200000,1,2,ksproxy.ax,6.01.7601.17514CyberLink Web Camera Filter,0x00200000,0,1,YCWebCameraSource.ax,2.00.10175.3910Wirecast Virtual Camera,0x00600000,0,2,WirecastVirtualCamera.ax,XSplitBroadcaster,0x00200000,0,1,VHMediaCOM.dll,2.00.0000.0507 Try to uninstall CyberLink YouCam application, Wirecast Virtual Camera and XSplit application. If you will not be able to uninstall these applications using Control Panel -> Programs and Features, then try this VCamFix tool. http://community.skype.com/t5/Windows-desktop-client/Skype-6-2-crashes-whenever-webcam-is-activated/m-p/3877035#M336405

  • Brand new 27-inch iMac Late 2013 repeatedly crashing with Mavericks

    Hi folks,
I have a brand new 27-inch Mac from late 2013 running OS X 10.9.1 (Mavericks) with:
    3.4 GHz Intel Core i5
    32 GB RAM
    3 TB Fusion drive
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780M 4096 MB
My system is hanging repeatedly, requiring a forced restart by holding down the power button - kernel panic I guess. Can't find a specific trigger, but I might be missing something.
I've tried reinstalling the OS, and a full erase and reinstall, but I'm still getting the problem. I've also run the hardware checker and verified the hard disc - all report the system is OK.
Annoyingly I can't startup in safe mode - think that's to do with having a 3TB Fusion drive.
Any suggestions? If I need to post a crash log can you let me know what bit is needed?
    Thanks for your help.
PS All the RAM was installed by Apple btw, so I don't think it's the mismatched voltage thing that others have had. Similarly, Google Drive is installed but not currently running.

  • Webcam crashes with skype through computer to TV

I can run skype on a regular computer monitor and it works just fine. I have a TV hooked up to my computer with an HDMI cable - I use this connection all the time for movies and games and it works fine. For some reason when I try to use it for a skype call it lags out EVERY time - the "call status" has checks next to everything except internet connection. I can hear and see the other person but they can no longer hear and see me. after it crashes I have to unplug the cam and reset it for the picture to get back to normal Any thoughts on why webcam: Microsoft LifecamTV: Samsung UN50J6200AFConnection to TVI: DVI to HDMIProcessor: i7 930 (2.8 Ghz)Graphics: Geforce 4600 GTXRAM 12 GB

I'm not aware of there being a Geforce 4600.  You either have an Intel HD 4600 or a Geforce 460 GTX or some combination of both chipsets.    You didn't post any crash details or further detailed information (OS/DirectX diagnostic).  If the problem is only occurring when HDMI is in use then I would see if you can disable HDMI audio as that might be a cause.  You should be able to disable that in the properties of your video card or possibly in the device manager.

  • IMac constantly inputting text, even with keyboard unplugged etc

    Hi guys,
Bought a second hand iMac (2012/21.5 Lion) and it's constantly inputting text. If I bring up a text program it usually looks like this '/////////////}}}]]]]   pPPPPPPPPPPPP' completely random characters plus the volume is going up and down and the return key is being pressed. I've unplugged the mouse and keyboard and it is still doing it. Last night I decided to format the harddrive and reinstall OSX and it is still happening. I've reset the PRAM and tried everything I can think of but have run out of ideas,
Anyone had any experience with this, did you find a solution?
    Many thanks.

In the end I wiped the whole thing and it seems to be behaving a little better now. It's no longer spitting out text and the mouse is working.
The wireless keyboard is still acting strange. Press the number 1 and it will actually type '1qz', press A and it types 'A', press B and it will be something like 'bsq'. For about 80% of the keys its adding two extra letters for everyone typed. It's always the same two letter depending on which key you type.
I've tried the keyboard and international settings and they seem fine.
    Any ideas?

  • Windows 7 Crash (Blue Screen) with Skype 6.18 on H...

    Hi,
I think a lot of people are having the same problem with Skype 6.18 on HP Pavilion notebooks.
Windows 7 crashes during the auto-update or installation of 6.18
After about 3-4 hours of troubleshooting the Blue Screen / service exception error (in ks.sys) I discovered that it's caused by the HP HD Webcam [Fixed] driver (version is 6.0.1113.1 released 2012-11-20 (or 20-11-2012)).
The driver is written by Sonix and is unlikely to be updated. So you have the choice of going back to an older version of Skype or disabling the webcam / driver through Device Manager. As soon as you disable the driver / device Skype will install / start - but of course you won't be able to use video during Skype calls.
Hopefully Microsoft / Skype will fix the driver incompatibility in a future release.
Skype Support - the issue is with the HP / Sonix driver - file is snp2uvc.sys
There are similar issues reported with a previous version of the HP HD Webcam driver as well (SPUVCBv_x64.sys).
Please fix it. I'd like to use video in calls again!

The best working solution at this time is to download and install Skype 6.14 and disable updates.  If you still get prompts to upgrade you can ignore them and the program should continue to function as it has not been retired as of yet.  Hopefully there will be a resolution in a future Skype update or an updated driver from HP that might resolve the issue.

  • I have recently upgraded my iMac Intel G5 iSight to OS 10.6.8 and now the internal mic does not work with skype or facebook. I can here static when playing back clips. Do I need to update firmware or reload old sys parts

I have recently upgraded my iMac Intel G5 iSight (iMac5,1) to OS 10.6.8 and now the internal mic does not work with skype or facebook. I can here static when playing back clips. Do I need to update firmware or reload old system parts. I have zapped PRAM. The blue indicator in system audio panel will appear for a second as I slide the bar for internal mic but then it disappears. Is there a fix?

The sound seems very faint but can here static on playback.

  • Adobe Acrobat InDesign Crashes with intel iMac

I have been having numerous InDesign crashes with no apparent pattern (sometimes it happens when I use key commands and other times it just shuts down). Any ideas/help? Thank you.

    Hi!
Not sure which version of InDesign you are using; and some applications
had issues when they were not quite ready for use in both Intel and PPC
Macintosh computers. An older version may cause a problem in a new Mac.
There may be several things not quite right; but there are several things
that you failed to mention (best stated in forum linked below) and those
could be: model, processor, RAM installed, OS X version (10.5.x, etc.)
[Something as basic as using Disk Utility (see folder in apps) and choose
it to run "repair disk permissions" may help; but it may be more involved.]
The question you have may be better and more accurately addressed in
    this Intel® iMac forum: http://discussions.apple.com/category.jspa?categoryID=189
Hopefully someone there more acquainted with these issues specific to
your hardware and the software you are attempting to use, has detailed ideas.
    Best regards!

  • Lion Random crash with 2009 iMac 27

    Hi
Am I the only one to have some randoms crashs with Lion on an iMac 27 late 2009 (i7 + ATI Radeon HD 4850 512 MB, 16 GB Ram) ?
I noticed that some iMac 2011 were affected but haven't found anything about the iMacs late 2009.
I can crash very easily my iMac while playing with Starcraft II, just to give an example. This iMac used to be very very stable with Snow Leopard, the only reboots were to apply the security fixes or power outages.
    Any idea ?
I hope this is going to be fixed with 10.7.2 !!
    Thanks
    Johan

Can't offer help, but I've daily BSODs with the same model - same GPU, only difference that I've only 8 Gigs of RAM.
Mainly happens with anything video or picture related, so mostly while using safari or other browser. All the time before "up"-grading to Lion I never had one single crash...

  • Skype causing display crash with newest AMD driver...

I have two graphics cards, an Nvidia GTX 750 Ti, and an XFX R9 280X. Skype gives me zero problems with the 750 Ti and latest Nvidia drivers, but with the 280X and latest Catalyst drivers from AMD, about 5 seconds after Skype starts up, my display freezes and just displays some crazy lines and colors. To test this, I closed Skype just before it completely started up, and, to my surprise, things ran smoothly, so this has to be a Skype issues with AMD drivers. Before I installed drivers for the 280X, there was no problem with Skype starting up. After, my PC becomes unusable with the drivers and Skype starting up. Any thoughts? I cannot just simply neglect to use Skype. A conflict between Skype and AMD drivers seems to be the only possible explanation if this problem does not occur without the drivers, nor with Nvidia drivers.

    Try this:
    Quit Skype.
Click on the desktop so Finder is active. Hold the option key down and click on Go in the menu bar.
In the drop down, select Library.
Open the Library folder and scroll down to Preferences.
In that folder, there is a file called com.skype.skype.plist. Trash that file.
