In recent versions of Lion, Java is automatically disabled (for security reasons) if it goes unused for a certain amount of time. You can re-enable it in the General pane of the Java Preferences app, found in /Applications/Utilities. (Check the box at the top of that pane.) If trying to open Java Preferences results in a message asking if you want to install Java, you don't actually have Java yet. Click the install button to install it.
Note that having Java turned on in your web browser is dangerous, due to recent proliferation of malware that uses Java to install itself.

I have an ipad 2 and some area's of the screen has stop working, can anyone help?

hi my ipad 2 screen has stopped fuctioning in parts of the screen when my ipad is tilted on its side and the keyboard is up some letters wont respond as quick as the others, its continuously the same letters, can anybody help solve this problem, i dont know if its a hardware problem or a software issue :/

Do the letters not work whichever app you are in e.g. Mail, Notes, Safari ?
Have you tried a reset to see if the entire screen works when the iPad has restarted ? Press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.
If that doesn't fix it then you could try restoring to your last backup, and next after that would be resetting back to factory defaults. If it still doesn't work then it is possibly a hardware issue, in which case you should contact Apple.

Recently, I am not able to use certain portions of 3 websites that I used to be able to use. I can get to the pages, and some buttons/links work within pages, but when I try to click on some buttons on some pages, nothing happens at all. Which browser are you using? Do you have Enable Java checked in it's preferences? When you get a message it's a good idea to write down exactly what it says rather than dismiss it and wonder later what it said about something.

First, unplug the modem, for at least 10 secs., then unlpug you airport/ wifi/ then try to reconnect.
If it it does not not work, reconnect your modem, then reconnect your network utilites, use assistance.

New to Mac. I exported (aka Saved As) a Pages document as a PDF. I want to make some more changes to the original doc but I can't find it on my computer. Did it get replaced by the PDF version?

When you open a Word document in Pages it is converted to a new .pages document and you will be prompted to save it when you close it. That will save it to a .pages file which will then contain all the automatically saved versions from then on.
You export to a .pdf file, this retains the .pages version but creates a.pdf copy of it.
I don't know what you mean by "red X'ing" the document unless you mean you are closing it by clicking on the red button at the top left of the window.
I assume you are using Mac OSX 10.8, not Windows XP, which will auto save for you when you close the document.

I have noticed an issue with utilizing the “stream” function on iOS 7. If you choose to just stream the movie by hitting the play button it seems to actually start downloading (which is fine) but if you are say halfway thru the movie and stop you can clearly see that storage has been reduced under the usage, yet under the “videos” tab it still states “No Data” the only way to delete what you have partially downloaded is to fully download the video, which is fine but there is no way to tell what videos have been partially downloaded (I.e which occurs a lot when your child switches between movies using the so called “stream” function). This becomes troublesome once the capacity of the ipad is almost met and you have no way to delete this data since you may have several videos that have started to be viewed (hence partially downloaded). Apple needs to somehow make it truly streaming or provide an update so the storage can be managed. The only way I have been able to remove partially downloaded videos is by doing a total software restore. (The video data that is in question when connected to my MacBook shows up in iTunes as “other”) if you have any insight into this issue it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

IMO opendns is either doing this on purpose (unlikely) or they're under some sort of attack/being used to attack the specific torrent sites although I'm open to other explanations. I believe using the automatic setting for DNS is using my own ISP's DNS servers (which again, work fine... but still...)
I'd rather not use Google's public DNS servers as Google is to commercial these days and I think there's potential privacy issues.
