HT1338 Installed OS X Mountain Lion - No Audio
After installing OS X Mountain Lion I now have no audio. There is no sound from youtube, none from itunes... any counsel?
It could be browser incompatibility or something else. When you say you can't log in, what happens? Is the bank website generating an error saying you're not using a supported browser? Does the login form for your bank account display as usual, but once you submit the form to log in it doesn't work? Give me a specific step-by-step of what you're doing, such as...
1. I load bankofamerica.com
2. I type in my login
3. When I submit, the page does nothing
Obviously that may not be your issue, but giving us details like that will help us come to a quicker conclusion.

Hi. My OS X version is 10.5.8. How do I get my version to 10.6.8 so that I would be able to install OS X Mountain Lion?
Click here, buy and install the DVD, and run Software Update.

Tried to install update to Mountain Lion and get this message: OSXUpdCombo 10-1.8 image data corrupted.
Try booting into the Safe Mode. Shut down the computer and then power it back up. Immediately after hearing the startup chime, hold down the shift key and continue to hold it until the gray Apple icon and a progress bar appear. The boot up is significantly slower than normal. This will reset some caches, forces a directory check, and disables all startup and login items, among other things. If the system operates normally, there may be 3rd party applications which are causing a problem. Try deleting/disabling the third party applications after a restart. For each disable/delete, you will need to restart if you don't do them all at once. You can download from the Safe Mode.

I HAVE INSTALLED OS-X MOUNTAIN LION BUT CANT SE ANY ICON AND DO NOT SEE AIR PLAY
About AirPlay and Airplay Mirroring
AirPlay Mirroring requires a second-generation Apple TV or later, and is supported on the following Mac models: iMac (Mid 2011 or newer), Mac mini (Mid 2011 or newer), MacBook Air (Mid 2011 or newer), and MacBook Pro (Early 2011 or newer). For non-qualifying Macs you can try using Air Parrot.

Thanks to the $15 Beamer, AirPlay streaming is still possible on Macs that do not support Airplay and mirroring.
Another solution is the Air Parrot. -

Kappy 08/2012 post on upgrading to Snow Leopard, then Lion or Mountain Lion - https://discussions.apple.com/message/19401628 - including how to get Snow Leopard and Lion since Apple removed them from the online store.
MacBook upgrade possibilities - https://discussions.apple.com/message/19577869 - "The Early 2006 model 1,1 Core Duo can only run a maximum of 10.6 Snow Leopard. The models Late 2006 Core 2 Duos 2,1 through Early 2008 4,1 can only run a maximum of 10.7 Lion. The Late 2008 model 5,1 Aluminum Unibody through the Mid 2010 White Unibody model 7,1 can run 10.8 Mountain Lion."
Why? Good question. I am a strong believer in not upgrading just because something new comes out, especially if you are running older equipment. I would say unless you see a need for it, just stick with Snow Leopard until something comes along that absolutely requires Mountain Lion. -
After first installing the new Mountain Lion upgrading Lion on my Macbook Pro was a little slow, so I decided to format and install Mountain Lion via a thumb drive. After installation on my Macbook Pro was restarting all the time and showing a black screen with codes on the screen. I decided to reformat and reset the PRAM, and that seems to have worked. Occasionally a black screen appears with the codes and my macbook restarts again. Last night I updated the Mountain Lion and error and looping retornartam. I thought I had lost all my works, do more entered in the login screen. I turned off my macbook, went to sleep and this morning I called and finally worked Do not know what's going on in my friends' macbook not occur this problem. The macbook them is the 2011 13 "i5 2.0Ghz and another 2010 and they both work perfectly with the Mountain Lion.
Below is the error that occurred this morning after login.

Is there a hardware problem?
thank youBefore you upgrade, make sure all your software supports it based on post July, 25, 2012 reports on

Reports prior to this date are unreliable, as they are likely with beta releases of Mountain Lion to developers. Other pitfalls to realize include:

Do I loose all the contact on my mac if I install OS X Mountain Lion
Hi,
I want to install OS X Mountain Lion but I wonder if I loose all the content i.e. file and program that I have already on my mac. In that case I have to make backup of all the contents. If you have Lion and use iCloud for Contacts and Calendar, then they will still be there after installing ML. If not, then it would be a good idea to archive them. Go to File>Export>Addressbook archive for Contacts and in iCal the same File>Export. Put these files in a backup folder somewhere for safe keeping. I do the same for Safari bookmarks, Google Earth Places etc, because it can be a bind to lose all your hard work.
Having said that, Setup Assistant will normally transfer your data to the new OS during the installation process without problems. -

The reason Win 7 looks bad is because of your poor monitor.
I run Windows 7 on my 1920 x 1200 pixels 17" MacBook Pro and it looks just as good as OS X.
The secret is to get a monitor with high pixel per square inch resolution, then any picture or graphics looks great.
Nearly all the available eye candy on OS X is available on Windows with hacks.
http://sourceforge.net/projects/mcsoft/
Windows has more software and it's versions are supported for a decade on average, the hardware is significantly less expensive and in the towers, customizable.
Apple just displays all fancy in one package and then charges 3x the price for the same performance as a PC.
Your not missing much, there isn't any compeling need to run OS X on your PC, it's a hassle anyway. -
I am trying to re-install OS-X Mountain Lion,
I am trying to re-install OS-X Mountain Lion, but I get a message that my apple id did not purchase the software. The OS comes bundled with the hardware, can anyone help?
Did someone else own the Mac before you? If so, it sounds like they upgraded the original OS to MLion, and that is forever tied to their AppleID.
Can you tell us more about the Mac (Apple menu>About this Mac) so we can offer the best suggestions as to what to do. -
I just installed the new mountain lion software on my iMac. I was currently running Snow Leopard. My problem is with my mouse. Now when I scroll down the page it moves in the opposite direction. In system preferences I tried checking and unchecking Natural for scroll feature. Movement from side to side works fine. Has anyone experienced this problem?
I think this new scrolling behaviour was introduced with Lion. You do get used to it pretty quickly (well I did). Are you sure that deselecting Natural Scrolling in Mouse Prefs doesn't re-instate the previous behaviour, it does here.

You do meet the hardware requirements. Otherwise you wouldn't have been able to purchase ML.
If you're connected wirelessly to your router, connect with Ethernet.
If you're connecting through a proxy, connect directly.
Boot in safe mode (shift key down at startup) and try again.
