Well if you use the Finder Go menu to Computer, a window opens up double click on your boot drive and then on Users folder, open the other user folder and open Public and drop your files into DropBox
When you do this it will copy them and change the permissions and user assigned to it, so log into the other user and place them into your respective normal folders.
Once you have all your files over and don't need the old user, use System Preferences > Accounts to delete it if you wish, however it's good two Admin accounts on the machine in case something bad happens in the other. Some people for security reasons on use a Standard account for most uses and a emergency Admin account.
One can still do most Admin things in Standard user.

    WINDOWS?
Connect the iPod to your PC. If iTunes starts syncing (ie erasing) your music automatically, hit the X in the upper right hand corner of iTunes display, to the left of the search box, to stop it.
In Control Panel, Portable Media Devices, double-click your iPod.
In the Tools menu -> Options, in the View Tab, check "Show hidden files and folders."
Navigate to the Music folder. On my 'pod, the full path is
Portable Media Devices\NAME of IPOD (F:)\iPod_Control\Music
Select all the music folders, and drag and drop them into a folder on your hard drive, or directly into iTunes.
And you're done! The iPod music folder structure is strange and inexplicable, but once you move your files into iTunes you can set it to automatically organize your folder by artist and album to clean that up. (To do this, in iTunes Edit menu, choose Preferences and in the Advanced tab, check "Keep iTunes Music Folder organized."
might be out of date worth a try

I have three users each with PC/Mac and iPods, how do I overcome the '5 user limit'? If I create a new acct, will it blow out the library on the iPod?
    thx

You don't.  5 is the limit of COMPUTERS that can be authorized to a single itunes account.  Ipods/iphones/ipad/Apple Tvs do NOT count toward the 5.

Can not delete gmail emails, why, on my new Mac Book OS x 9.4

    Hi,
First I uninstalled my old HP Scan application using uninstall in the same folder as the app.
Then I installed HP Scanjet Full Feature Software and Drivers for Mac OS X v10.6 from HP support page:  http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=sj-78355-5 &cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&os=219&product=3236366&sw_lang=
Then I was able to make single scans using Image Capture.
    Does it help?

  • Deletion of Local User Profiles

    Hi,
I need to delete Windows 7 local user profiles and have the following requirements:
    1. Only to perform the deletion once
    2. Leave system (defautl, administrator and public) profiles in place
    3. Not to attempt the deletion when a user is logged on
I initially thought of a script linked to a computer start up gpo, but was wondering whether SCCM 2012 could do this and if so, whether someone could give me a few pointers?
    Thx
    IT Support/Everything

you should be able to delete user profiles provided that the local system account (the account that executes the script) do have the required permission.

  • Two user profiles on my iMac but only one can connect to the internet

    Hi,
I got the most recent upgrade for Lion and installed it.  I have two user profiles on my iMac and now, only one of them can connect to the internet yet both appear to have gotten the full upgrades.  Any ideas why this might be happening?
    Thanks!!

Does the Account that can not connect to the Internet have full Administative priveleges or is it a Standard Account. If Standard, check to make sure it is allowed to connect.

  • Default user profile and different Macs

I made a 10.6.5 image with a custom user profile. This works perfect. The only annoying is that when I install the image on a other mac certain things are turned on. For example: in the image the time machine icon/blutooth icon in the menubar are removed and turned off. Software update is turned off. If you installed the image on an other mac(different Apple hardware?) these things are on (Apple software update is on) Time machine and blutooth are visable in the menubar.(but not active)
    anyone an idea?
    thanks

Given that Mac OS has standard settings for users on a standard OS X build, it is surely possible. I remember I was looking into this awhile back, I lost the resource though. Since I will be doing this soon myself I will report back.
I know the standard profile is here: /System/Library/User Template/English.lproj/
Presumably you would create a testuser profile, set it up the way you want it. Copy the testuser profile to /System/Library. Rename the User Template folder to User Template.old, then rename the testuser user profile to User Template.
    Permissions look to be:
    System - Read & Write
    Everyone - No Access
So you would have to apply these to the new User Template folder.
That is throughout the directory as well. There is another folder inside the User Template folder called, user.template. It looks to be the same. I am not sure of the distinction.
Hope that helps a bit. Just play around a bit. Just be sure to keep the originals around, hence the .old. The instructions I gave are what we use for setting up an XP standard image, I can't imagine it being much different. Like I said, I will be doing this soon myself. So I will report back.
This would effectively give the users the same profile upon login. Depending on what you are using to manage network users you could restrict the user from changing any settings or only certain ones. I know you can do this with Workgroup Manager in OS X Server.

  • HT4889 I just complete a migration from my Mac Book Pro to my new Mac Book Pro but none of the files on my desktop appear anywhere. Suggestions please.

I have just completed a lengthy migration of all  my files from an old Mac Book Pro to my new Mac Book Pro and I find that none of my files on my desktop have been transferred. So, I do not have the confidence that all my files have been transferred. What did I do wrong and what can I do to fix this matter. Sugggestions welcome. Thanks

Open the Users folder, drag the migrated home folder to the desktop, provide your administrator password, and retrieve the files from there. If desired, you can then use the Users & Groups pane of System Preferences to delete the migrated account. This can be done in reverse if you only want the migrated account.

  • I deleted my download manager's list by mistake (not the 1st time) where can I retrieve the information? email removed

I erroneously deleted the list in the download manager - the position of the List delete and the Item delete are quite close and I has made this mistake before. Where is this data stored? And/or can I retrieve my deleted data?

Once deleted you can not retrieve the data. The list is stored in a file called downloads.sqlite inside the [[profiles|profile folder]].
