HT1338 kernel panic crashes mac book pro
I have a duo mac book pro 2.93 late 2008/early 2009
I took it to apple because it crashes a lot. They told me that the hardware was fine and did not need repair the hardware. I changed the HDD as it had flaws and reinstalled lion. I mistakenly upgraded safari so it stopped working.
I then updated to Mountain lion hoping that this would help (safari workes again) but the computer continue to crash. 8 times today on this issue.
Today i ran a 2 hour memory test http://osxdaily.com/2011/05/03/memtest-mac-ram-test/ and it passed this.
Can anyone help please?

Several Kernel Panics - Retina Mac Book Pro
First off before wed I had never had a kernal panic.Some back story (Dunno if it could have effected it). I ran out of power of tues just before a long car journey and thus I had to forced shutdown the computer and then put it in its case and went home. When I got back for the first night their was no issues (I charged it to 100% , Surfed the web for a good 3 hrs and rebooted 2 times) so I thought nothing of it. However when i got up the next morning I had a Kernal Panic (Figure 1.) I was out the room for this one (From my POV i thought i hadnt pressed the button hard enough ) this reoccured later that day ( Which I once agin missed ! (it must be noted that 3 or so reboots had no issues). The next day on one of my about 5 boots I saw the Kernal panic (as this was the first time I had seen it I thought i would let it play as the other boots had no issues).But Yesterday it paniced again on about one of 6 boots and today it paniced once out of 3 times.
All of them seem to be related to the CPU Caller (but the number changes.). I have a 3 year warrenty on this laptop and can get it to the apple store the only prob is I need my laptop for work and I'v already had the screen out due to the image retention bug.

My mac book pro from 2006 running 10.7.5 crashes randomly. I found the log below and wondered if someone could tell me if the app growl is the cause?

If you think it's the cause, then uninstall it. But if you are having random crashes then more must be going on. True random crashes can be caused by nearly anything. If you get a kernel panic, then post the panic log - Mac OS X- How to log a kernel panic.
But you will need to provide more information than you have to diagnose the problem. Could just be the computer is 7 years old. Could be marginal RAM. Could be the hard drive. Could be the OS is corrupted.

Premiere causes display glitches and crashes Mac Book Pro 15" w/ 750m GPU
Hello!
Just bought a new mid 2014 Mac Book Pro 15" with 750m GPU. It works fine with every program except Premiere CC 2014. Games play smoothly with the GPU but when I launch Premiere I notice that the display starts glitching like in the image below. Eventually the whole computer crashes and it states "there was a problem with the Graphics." Running Yosemite, CUDA drivers are updated, all other programs using the discrete gpu seem to work smoothly. Once I get into Premiere it goes nuts. I even did a clean install of the OSX and reinstalled Premiere and it still does this. Please help! I can't edit my videos with these constant crashes.Same problem here aswell, got new Motherboard & display, clean install, no result.
Keeps glitching as soon as I start editing...do you use an external monitor to edit? (thunderbolt or hdmi output)

I bought my mac book pro from an owner selling. I created my apple ID but whenever I try to download updates it brings up previous owner's apple ID and asks for password. How do I delete or by-pass existing apple ID and use my created apple ID and password to enable updates for my Mac?
Yes, he purchased Mountain Lion on his Apple ID. It is licensed to him. What he should have done was erase the HDD and install the system that the Mac shipped with. Erase and re-install either from Recovery Partition or the disks the Mac originally shipped with. Then, purchase ML with your own Apple ID and install.

HT1338 why is my mac book pro running slowly
Gradually my Mac Book Pro has slowed down..I keep getting the 'pin wheel of death' especially whn I hav multiple tabs open.. I use to run w******ws..and I could clear the temporary files to speed things up...how do I do that with a Mac?

HT1338 ibooks for my mac book pro
I have purchased books to read through the ibooks on my phone. I pay for icloud so I thought that would enable me to have all the data shared between my apple products. I would now like to read on my mac computer instead of my Iphone. The Iphone screen is just too small. However, I can't find an app for my mac that allows me to have the books that i've already purchased, on my phone, through my mac.
It couldn't stand the competition.

Time Capsule back up crashes mac book pro
was backing-up perfectly until shortly after 10.5.4 osx update. entering time capsule now triggers panic kernel; screen goes gray from top to bottom and a message appears in several languages telling me I must shut down by holding down the power button. anyone else? any fixes? thanks.

You can back up as many computers as you want into the Time Capsule, always that there's enough space to store the backups of both MacBooks. You won't have any problem doing that -

It's because your OS 10.4 version is so old that you can't run the latest version of Flash. You are not even running the latest version of Tiger OS 10.4, which is OS 10.4.11.
Don't know if this hack will work on your Mac since it has an Intel processor. But you can try it.

I would try doing it again (running Software Update), immediately after doing a Restart. If it still does not work, both of those updates are available as stand-alone installers.

Hello i am a bit of a novice and need help to bring my MacBookPro up to date. How do i find the relevant updates/upgrades i need, as the software finder, constantly stops a short time after trying to look for updates. The following messege pops up "network error has occured:timed out. (-1001) network problem. Meanwhile i am still connected to the internet?..... HELP!!!!
your only option is to look for Leopard on ebay, ensure they are "retail" discs, dont get they grey coloured disc set as they are for specific machines

If they replaced RAM to fix a problem and it is not fixed take it right back to them.

Mac Book Pro - Rebooting and Kernel Panic
Hi Everyone,
I hope that you're all well.
I've recently sold my iMac and purchased a Mac Book Pro Mid 2010 edition (i7, 8gig Ram, 500mb disk). It has Mountain Lion 10.8.4 installed.
and I am having problems with the machine and I hope that you might be able to help out.
My machine is doing repeatedly doing, what I have learnt is, a Kernel Panic which is incredibly frustrating.
When the system reboots it offers me the report below.
Would someone be kind enough to let me know what the issue with my machine might be.

If you're having frequent kernel panics with your 15" mid-2010, or intermittent screen problems, the problem is, more than likely, the faulty NVIDIA GPU found in a number of those machines.

Here's the "official" Apple take on the issue - but the very real kernel panics need not be preceded by 'Intermittent black screen or loss of video'... in fact, you might not experience any video problems at all. Although video problems can certainly be a portent of things to come…
So what can you do? Print out a copy of your kernel panic and a copy of the Knowledge Base article and take them, along with your machine, to your local Apple Store or an Apple Authorized Service Provider. They should be more than willing to install a new logic board at no cost. I have no idea why this faulty GPU is making the headline here on the MacBook Pro forum so often now - could it be because Mountain Lion is just bringing the issue to a head more readily? I don't know - I only know that we're seeing more and more of these kernel panics of late.
