My app store opens every time I cut on my laptop and I do not know how to get this to stop happening.

Hold down the Option key when starting up, or restarting. You'll be presented with the Startup Manager, which is a simple graphic of the drives you can boot to. Double click the drive which has OS X on it. Once in OS X, go to the System Preferences and click on Startup Disk. Choose the drive you always want the Mac to boot to first.

I dragged the Photo library icon from the backup drive on to iPhoto on the laptop
That means you imported one Library to another.
Never import one Library to another. Every version and thumbnail is imported like a distinct photo, you lose all your Albums, Keywords etc., the link between Original and Previews is destroyed, the non-destructive editing feature is ruined and so on. In summary: it's mess.
So the reason you're seeing small photos is because you're seeing the iPhoto thumbnails from the back up library.
So, what to do?
Do you still have the back up? If so, trash this bunged up library and restore from the back up again. HOw to restore will depend entirely on how you made the back up, but no version of restoring includes importing the library.

Have you tried resetting your iPad by holding down the Home and power button until the silver apple appears? Have you tried deleting the Skype app and seeing what happens?

Make sure you have cellular data connection Settings > General > Network > Cellular Data

I keep gettin updates from my app store but yet when I go in and update all it starts the update and then pops up and tells me that the application cannot be downloaded at this time. I have had to delete a few apps bc this isn't working.

First check that your device is not full, maybe you may have to delete some photos or apps to make space to do updates. if its not full then you will have to try pluging it into your pc/mac running itunes then doing a backup and restore. Then you should be able to do your updates.
Sorry but i cant think of any other way if its showing as installed already but is not there.

Do you have the power cable in, it won't show up with the power cable in.
Additionally, there have been some issues with the update servers, it's possible you won't be able to complete the update procedure anyway.

You do not need to use cleaning programs. They can destroy your computer operation as they may already have done.

Do a backup.
Go to Finder and select your user/home folder. With that Finder window as the front window, either select Finder/View/Show View options or go command - J. When the View options opens, check ’Show Library Folder’. That should make your user library folder visible in your user/home folder. Select Library. Then go to Preferences/com.apple.appstore.plist. Move the .plist to your desktop.
Restart, open the application and test. If it works okay, delete the plist from the desktop.
If the application is the same, return the .plist to where you got it from, overwriting the newer one.

After creating an alias, the App Store application has disappeared from the Launchpad. Huh?!

So, I opened the Applications folder, then selected the App Store application and created an alias of it.
Now, when I activate the Launchpad the original app is nowhere to be found. The alias is there, but the application proper is not displayed.
It IS displayed (as well as the alias) in the Applications folder when I open that in the Finder.
I have no idea how to remedy this. Logging out and back in is fruitless. And a reboot makes no difference.
Any ideas, please? Any one? Bueller? ;-)

Yes. The alias works. And the App Store application (which is still in the Applications folder) also works.
Interestingly, I just tried a similar thing with the Adobe Reader app...created an alias of the application in the Applications folder. The same thing happened. The Adobe application disappeared from the Launchpad, replaced by the working alias. The fix for that was to delete the alias from the Applications folder. Then copy the Adobe app onto the desktop and finally copy it back into the Applications folder, answering "Replace" the original when prompted.
Of course, when attempting to copy the App Store app back into the Applications folder, the process cannot be completed because the OS says... “App Store” can’t be modified or deleted because it’s required by Mac OS X."

App store application no longer list App with update

My iPad also no longer show a list of App that needs to be updated for App Store application. In this case, it shows number of available updates, but does not list them when I open. Then, the only way to find what App needs update, I need to go to "purchased" section, and individually look for updates.
I have tried to fix by restarting iPad, etc., but nothing has helped so far.
It may or may not be related, but this is basically opposite of what happend to Podcasts App, where it does not show unplayed episode on icon, but it does show unplayed episode once I open the application itself...

You can't fix this problem. It is an ongoing problem that has been going on for several days. Apple needs to fix it and from what I have read, it has been reported and they are working on the fix.

HT203421 Since installing Yosemite 10.10 the Apps Store application on my iMac does not work

installing Yosemite 10.10 the Apps Store application on my iMac does not work properly. Applications show up in the App Store window to be updated but in fact most of them do not download and install. Some 3rd party software does download and install but most Apple and HP Applications do not. They appear in some cases in both the Ready to update or install list and in the "Installed in the last 30 days list". In some cases when I click on "Update" it shows in the "Installed in the Last 30 Days list" but it is not installed. In the case of the latest Yosemite 10.10.3 beta down load, it momentarily show up like it is downloading but then disappears and does not install.

I am now using Yosemite 10.10.2 and am trying to install the beta Download Yosemite 10.10.3 hoping it will resolve my problem but starts to download from the App Store snd then quits.
