  • IPod Won't Update - Is iTunes 7 to blame?

I started having problems with my iPod's playback - skipping songs in a playlist and skipping to the next track before the end of the song - I then tried to add songs (and update calenders etc.) using iTunes 7 (having only just downloaded it) and then everything stopped working.
The iPod registered on the computer and in iTunes - the contents of the iPod appeared in ITunes too, but it refused to accept new songs - when I tried to add songs, iTunes said it was updating, but it froze on the second song and iTunes then crashed.
I have restored the iPod and reinstalled iTunes 7, but neither of them work - the iPod won't update and iTunes constantly crashes (particularly when playing and pausing songs). I tried downgrading to iTunes 6.0.5 - which works fine - but the iPod still would not update.
Are these problems due to iTunes 7 being rubbish or do I have a broken iPod?? Is there anything I can try??
I have also just realised my mistake in putting this question in the Fifth Generation iPod forum, as I don't have one. Apologies for that - I have an iPod with click wheel but I don't seem to be able to move the question!

    hi Jim!
Plug in my iPOD, and it says its updating, and I can see the new music on the iPOD from iTunes, but its NOT ON MY IPOD when I unplug and try and play.
sounds like a drive letter confusion on your PC. see:

  • Music Plays on iPod Touch won't update to iTunes 10.5

number of music plays on ipod touch won't update to itunes 10.5

Unfortunately, I do not have a solution to this problem; however, I am experiencing the same thing. However, my iPod Touch is new. It will not play any of the DRM-protected content that I purchased previously; however, it will allow me to purchase content with my Apple account, so it is certainly "authorized," as it were. I guess I will try to reset it, but I doubt it will work.

New itunes is trying to wipe the ipod. But have many many playlists (many hours making) which I want to save. Any help would be appreciated.

If you want to just extract the playlists from your iPod, plug it in iTunes.  When it appears under devices, right->click on it and choose Export Playlists.  Save them to a location such as your desktop and them import them into your library once you have copied and imported all of your music back into it.
See this older post from another forum member Zevoneer covering the different methods and software available to assist you with the task of copying content from your iPod back to your PC and into iTunes.

  • I have the first ipad and it won't recognize the charger and also the computer won't recognize the ipad when I plug it in to sync. Any ideas why?

I have the first ipad and it won't recognize the charger and also the computer won't recognize the ipad when I plug it in to sync. Any ideas why?

If your using the same cable for your wall charger as you are for your computer, than the problem is probably within the cable (if there isn't visible damage to the cable of coarse). The quockest solution would be to buy your self a new cable. There is probably nothing wrong with your wall adapter, so just the cable will do.

Perhaps let's first try updating your Apple Software Update.
Launch Apple Software Update ("Start > All Programs > Apple Software Update"). Does it launch and offer you a newer version of Apple Software Update? If so, choose to install just that update to Apple Software Update. (Deselect any other software offered at the same time.)
If the ASU update goes through okay, try another iTunes install. Does it go through without the errors this time?

  • HT4972 im trying to update my ipod touch and have transfered all my apps to my laptop when i update it will i be able to transfer them  back to my ipod or not?

ive got an ipod touch and im trying to update it im using a laptop ive used for quite a while now but its coming up with the message that u get when u dont normaly use that computer. so i tranfered all my apps to my laptop when i update it will i be able to transfer all them apps back onto my ipod?

    - Yes. If you also want to retain app data, connect the iPod to the computer and make a backup by right clicking on the iPod under Devices in iTunes and select Back Up. Then restore from that backup. The restore will also update the iOS.
    - However, what was the error message you received? Maybe we can fix that.

  • My ipod won't update through ITunes

Ok, I am working on a Dell right now. I have tried EVERYTHING possible right now to get this new ipod to update using Itunes.
I have installed and reinstalled Itunes from Apple.com and using the CD which came with the ipod.
I have installed and reinstalled the ipod updater as well.
Yet, when I plug my ipod into the computer, nothing happens.
The computer recognizes that something has been plugged into the USB port, yet ITunes won't recognize that an ipod has been plugged in.
    Any suggestions
    thanks

if u've done all that installing and uninstalling. its probably that the USB connection in your ipod is not functioning well.
u could try using another usb device and plug into your laptop, if it works well, its probably your ipod that has e problem.
bring it down to exchange it if u still hav warranty =p

  • TS3274 Original iPad won't charge, won't update and iTunes won't recognize

I have one of the first generation iPads that won't charge unless it is completely drained of power.  Also if after it shuts off from 0% power ifr any reason it gets turned back on while plugged in, it stops charging and won't continue to charge until the device is completely drained again. Also iTunes won't recognize the device AND it is operating under iOS 5.1.1 and says the software is up to date and won't update at all.  I have tried different plugs, different computers, nothing works.  Is my iPad just too old?

The failure to update isn't an issue. The iPad one is maxed out at 5.1.1.
The other issues may be an issue with the battery, or charging port or software inside. You may want to make an appointment to get it checked out, but even if what's broken is a manufacturer's defect you're outside of any warranty so the most you'll get is the offer of an out of warranty replacement for a fee. might ultimately be cheaper to put that money towards a new device.
Have you tried to give your iPad a reset? Hold down the sleep and home keys until you see the silver apple. Let it reboot and see if that helps.

  • My podcast feed won't update on iTunes. Why? And what can I do to fix?

I do a weekly podcast and hasn't updated since Sept 21st for whatever reason. Even though the rss feed shows the new episode with the enclosure link, it's not updated on iTunes. I use libsyn.com to upload the audio files and then use the enclosure links they supply me with to put on a small blog post in blogger. I then send the blogger RSS feed to send to iTunes, which has worked for 31 episodes... until now, when I've tried to upload episode 32.
The blogger feed I use in feedburner is: http://muaythaiguypodcast.blogspot.com/feeds/posts/default?=rss
The feedburner feed I send to iTunes is: http://feeds.feedburner.com/lfqKK
I tried changing the feedburner feed, but that didn't do anything. I'm also in the process of redesigning my website using wordpress, and have thought about using powerpress to keep the podcast updated. Would that be a good idea?
Any help would be much appreciated, thanks in advance!

You have sent iTunes to the wrong feed URL. There is a feed at the URL you quote, but your iTunes Store page, which is at
    https://itunes.apple.com/podcast/muay-thai-guy-podcast/id636798781
is looking for a feed at
    http://feeds.feedburner.com/blogspot/lfqKK
There is no file at that address. So now you have painted yourself into a corner. I would guess that you aren't able to get a feed up at that Feedburner address? If you can, then you need to add the 'new-feed-url' tag to (or the original feed) as described here:
    http://www.wilmut.webspace.virginmedia.com/notes/podcast.html#move
If you are unable to do that your only option (other than abandoning the podcast page and re-submitting as entirely new podcast) is to email Support at podcasts 'at' apple.com and ask them to change the Store to the correct URL - give them the URL of the Store page and both feed URLs. I can't guarantee they will do this, but it's quite possible and would solve your problem.
If you do have to resubmit, you will have to change the title slightly or you will be told the feed has already been submitted.

  • HT1338 Help!  My computer won't update!

I updated my iphone 4 with the new software directly from my iphone.  When I went to plug it into my computer, it said I didn't have the current iTunes.  I downloaded the new version of iTunes but can't insatll it because my IOS software isn't up to date either.  When I go to the apple icon in my left hand upper corner, I click on software updates and it tells me its up to date.  So I tried going to the apple website to download it directly from there and there is no where on the website for me to download the current version.  I only find several pages about how great the new software is, I just can't download it!  Help!!   As a result of all this, my iphone won't sync, and I no longer have any music available on my phone from my itunes match!
