If you want to upgrade to 10.5 you will have to buy it secondhand somewhere.
Your MacBook could also run 10.6 and THAT is still available for purchase from Apple stores, but be quick for when 10.8 becomes available ... new product has a tendency to push older stuff off the shelves.
10.6 is very similar to 10.5 so that is probably the easist path for you to take.

My ipod 4g wont update at all

On all my friends iPods in the general settings, it let's them have a system update, that is not on my iPod. Also when I sync my iPod into the computer no matter what I do, there is no option for a system update. So is my iPod broken or something? I would really like to know because I can't download or update anything because it all requires iOS 5 which I can't get.

My computer wont update itunes & and show all my music?

Alright, so I opened my itunes after awhile since I first downloaded it (new user). A pop up said there was a new version but I dismissed it. I then was looking at my itunes, and there was NOTHING in my library. I was confused seeing as when I first downloaded it, with my account everything showed up that was also on my phone. I clicked around and still coundnt find anything. I then decided that maybe it wasnt showing me my music because I decided not to update. So then I tried to find out how to update, and then I ended up just downloading itunes again? I then checked again and found the alt and help button. However... when I click check for update it gives me an update, I press download... and nothing happens?! I dont understand why? I went through my account information and it said I had nine downloads, I down loaded them... but its only 4 albums, and just pieces from each?

Got a new hard drive now computer wont update my ipod

I had to get a new hard drive and have managed to get all of my old music back into itunes but my computer does not read my ipod and has not updated the new music that I have purchased thru itunes or music I have downloaded from a disc since installing the new hard drive. I have re-installed my ipod software from the disc with no results.... HELP!!! My Mini now has no music on it because I reformatted it when prompted to do so when reinstalling the software... I am so frustrated, please advise???

I have to admit that your reply seems as though it would work, but I am not sure exactly what your reply means, can you respond to me like I am an idiot and spell it out for me??? I am having a great laugh at myself right now, but if you tell me exactly what to do, I am sure I can figure it out. I did put the disc that came with my mini, I even uninstalled itunes all together and reinstalled it but that did nothing to help the cause... still getting the same response that my software is not "installed properly"

- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iPod fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- If still not successful that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

Just have to give it some time. The download, activation, and verification servers are all slammed right now 'cause of all the people trying to update at the same time. Give it a couple hours (or overnight if you can wait) and it should sort itself out.

Hi ive got an iphone 3g 16gb its on firmware 3.1.3.
Ive been trying since i got it to update it through itunes but it just wont let me.Ive downloaded through itunes 4.2.1 and tryed to install it but it gets to near the end and get error code 1015? i only thought you got errors when putting custom firmware on.
Anyways ive download 4.1 and 4.0 for 3g and done the hold shift and install for both and get error again.Ive gone into the host file and added 74.208.249 gs.apple.com to get past the error codes and still getting error codes.
please someone help me ive tried so many times and all i want to do is update to latest firmware im not even bothered about jailbreaking it,my phone is unlocked anyways so dont need unlock or out.

If you still like using your iPhone 3G do not upgrade. The phone will shortly turn into a slow/ unhappy device.
iPhone 3G has 128mb of RAM where the 3GS has 256mb of ram and a slightly fast processor so it an handle newer IOS versions easier. You only have to download a memory app to see how much ram you have left with general use on the 3G (on 3.1.3).

I am trying to update my the most recent software for my Macbook Pro. I click the update button, click to 'restart' my computer, and then when it turns back on, it doesnt update. It asks me to start the whole process over so I just continue to restart my computer w/o it ever updating. Any help on how to fix this and update would be appreciated!

Computer Wont Respond at all to ipod!!

I have had the 5th gen ipod video 30gb for about 5 months now with no problem i recently downloaded itunes 7 like most people and my ipod would not respond to itunes then i pluged it into my wall adapter and the hardrive just clicked on and off untill the ipod wouldnt respond to anything eventually. I brought it to my local apple store and got a new one i come home today and now the brand new ipod is not responding when i plug it into my computer at all. I know a lot of people are having problems but i would love to have some help on this. Also i've tried disk mode and a lot of other things i've read here on the message board so any suggestions on at least getting itunes or my computer to respond to the ipod.
