HT1338 my mail is working but the little wheel keeps turning beside my iCloud account
my mail program on my MacBook Pro Lion is working but the little wheel is constantly turning beside my iCloud mail account. Can you tell me why this would be - it started last night when I got a note saying that I had connected to a site without a trusted certificate and I clicked.. trust. Would this cause this little wheel to be constantly turning beside my Mac mail account in Mail. ???

Hi Grebus, and a warm welcome to the forums!
Quit Mail...
First I'd backup these two Mail folders, by right clicking on them in the Finder, then choose Archive/Compress.
Users/YourUserName/Library/Mail
Users/YourUserName/Library/Mail Downloads
Right click on that Mail folder, choose archive, you'll get everything in the folder, and the folder itself in a file called Mail.zip, move it to a safe place, same for the Mail Downloads folder... only the plist is separate.
/Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.mail.plist
Not certain, but this can fix myriad Mail problems...
Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, then move these folder & file to the Desktop.
Move this Folder to the Desktop...
/Users/YourUserName/Library/Caches/Mail/
Move this file to the Desktop...
/Users/YourUserName/Library/Mail/Envelope Index
Reboot.

What version of iPhoto? Assuming 09 or later:
Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
If that fails:
Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .

As soon as I plug my iphone4 (running 4.3.3) into my pc, it appears in the left hand column and the little wheel starts turning. Then it stops after a few seconds and itunes freezes. I have tried everything. Can anyone help. Thanks

Yes, a very frusterating issue indeed. Someone else had mentioned a possible issue with real player, I tried getting rid of that and same issues. I even got completely rid of firefox for the moment. Guess what, problem still is persisting. I think this means it maybe something else altogether. I will go back to re-add firefox after I get this straightened out but now using Chrome for the moment.
What I've also found out is that the sound can be restarted when I unplug and replug in the 3.5mm speaker cable from the audio output jack on the back of the computer. Any ideas?

I recently changed my apple ID but the old on is still on my iCloud account. The old address is dimmed on iCloud on my iPad so I can't change it. How do I change to the new address? I don't want to delete the account as I don't want to lose the pictures
To change it, you have delete the existing account. However you can avoid losing any pictures in the process. To avoid losing photo stream photos, save them to your camera roll (if not already there) before deleting the account. To do this, open your my photo stream album, tap Edit, tap the photos, tap Share, then tap Save to Camera Roll. (Camera roll photos are not effected by deleting the account.)
Then go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account, then sign back in with the new ID. This deletes the account and your iCloud data from your device, but not from iCloud. Provided you are signing back into the same account, your iCloud data will reappear on your device when you sign back in. -
Since I installed OSX Lion on my MacBook Pro, sometimes after login, the colored wheel keeps turning and I can't do anything. When I click on some icon or in the menu, no happens.
After a long time (more than 1 hour), I decide to switch off my Mac holding the button down and when I boot and log in again, it works normally.
Remark: When I logoff, I do not ask to keep my open programs for the next session.

My iPhone 5 screen stopped working, but the phone is still turned on.
Last night I was sat using my iPhone 5 and it froze a little bit, so I locked the screen thinking it would solve the problem. But after locking the screen the screen did not turn back on, however the phone itself is still turned on as siri works. I have been sending texts via siri and listening to music but nothing at all on the phone is working. To make problems worse my lock button does not work so I can't restart the phone. What can I do?
Press hold standby button + home button for 15-20 secs and after that the iphone maybe reboot and its screen may work

Laptop works BUT the screen will not turn on
I have a Macbook Pro 15'' intel from 2007. Two days ago I closed the top and when I re-opened it a minute or two later the screen was black. Thinking it was just asleep I mashed on the keys - nothing. Yesterday I feared it was a issue with the computer. Thankfully though I have successfully log in (blindly) and was able to use a hot key to open iTunes and start playing music, proving that the computer itself was alright, but the screen was busted.
Does anybody have an idea of what I can do to get the screen back on? Could it possible be a problem with the activation switch that turns the moniter on and off? (is this problem covered in my Apple Care warrenty?)Hi Hank,

Basically, you don't.
The 'spinning wheel' is simply an indicator that an operation is taking longer than it should. It doesn't say anything about why, or even if it's an error or not. If it's in Word, it could be that the app is hung, or it could be that it is waiting for some kind of user input, or input from another app. (My bet would be on the former.) You could go into Activity Monitor, identify the process that's making it wait, kill it, cross your fingers and hope that it would generate an error that would cause Word to return control to the user (you). If you had the expertise, that is, and the moon were in right quadrant.
Realistically, your only option is to force-quit Word. Once that is done, if AutoRecovery was on, then, with luck, you could recover much of your work. Here

Plz Help: ipod buttons do not work, but the scrolling wheel work normally
Hi everyone,
All the controlling buttons on my girlfriend's ipod nano 3rd gen do not work.
However, the scrolling wheel is still functional.
Everything works, except the controlling buttons (menu, play, prev, next)
Is there any possible reason or solution for this?
The ipod is a 8GB product(RED) one.
Any suggestion is appreciated.

This sounds like a hardware problem to me. If it's under warranty, take it to an Apple store. If not, take it anyway. They still may be able to help. If they can't, you can try sending it away to a company that fixes iPods. However, this may cost more than it's worth. You may find yourself buying a new iPod. -
Need help with backing up on icloud. It's just grey the and can't click it.
Sorry, I was gone for a while. The reason I asked is that many employers will push a restriction to the phone to prevent it from backing up to iCloud.
The only time I've seen this before it was the result of a server issue at Apple's end, and would normally clear up on it's own in 3-5 days. If you can't wait, you'll probably have to contact Apple support for help with this: http://www.apple.com/support/icloud/contact/. -

Close the Mail app and is going to work.
How to:
1 - Go to Home Screen
2 - On Home Screen, double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar.
3 - Press and hold any Mail app until it start shaking.
4 - Press the " - " in top left of the Mail app, it will close the app, don't worry about this.
5 - Press Home Button to go to Home Screen.
6 - Open Mail and the body mail will be there.
If that doesn't work then do a reset and see if they show after the iPhone has restarted : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPhone equivalent of a reboot. -
I tried to restart my iPad2 buy turning it off as per the manual, but when the screen went black the little circle keeps turning around in the center now for around one hour. I tried to turn it back on but it does not work it is just black and the circle is turning around as if it is doing something. How can I turn it back on now. please help!!!
I fixed it , thank you for anyone who would have sent me a message. I just pressed and was holding both the sleep/wake button and the home and it worked.

My iPad has frozen up. I've tried to power it off but the little pinwheel keeps sping round on a black screen. It won't shut off nor come back to normal screen. I'm using my wife's iPad right now.

Automatic set up for mail isnt working, on the "welcome to mail" pop up its not recognising my password and gives me no option to reset, which password should I be entering? Im assuming its the one for my Mac ? also tried my Yahoo one but no joy.....
