HT1338 Since having my Macbook Pro attached to a large display screen, everything is too large for the screen. Is there a cure please?
Today I had my Mac linked to a projector screen, and since disconnection evrything from the desk top onwards has been too large for the screen. Before that evrything was perfect. I have tried zoom buttons etc, but nothing seems to work. Any help gratefully rceived.
So it's not the Zoom feature? Open System Preferences Universal Access pane Seeing tab. Make sure Zoom is turned OFF.
If it's not that, then you may have the resolution set so that it is not optimal for the built-in display. Open System Preferences Displays pane Display tab. The optimal resolution is usually the one at the top of the list of choices.

Open Disk Utility and select your hard drive, then Repair Permissions, it will probably return a very large number of errors, primarily printer and library errors, so run it a second time. Then restart the MacBook Pro. If it still will not scan, try using Image Capture from Finder > Applications and see if that will work. If not, contact Xerox about updated drivers.

The pages become too big for the screen on Macbook pro

Yesterday I was watching a movie on amazon.com using my Macbook Pro (retina display if it helps). I connected it to my TV via HDMI and put it on full screen. After the movie I was too lazy to tidy up and went to sleep. This morning, when I opened it, on the 'safari' ( I don't know if its the same name in english because my computer is in french) and battle.net have 1/3 of the page is outside the borders of it horizontally and vertically. I also feel that everything is bigger. I tried restarting it or closing the pages and opening them again but it doesn't work. Please help me because I use my laptop for everything I do and I need it as soon as possible. Please excuse any spelling mistakes.Sorry I found what the problem was but I can only explain in french, you have to go to 'preferences system' then to 'Moniteurs' and click on 'Optimal (retina).

The past 2 days my MacBook pro has been running really hot, especially when I close it. When I open it the screensaver doesn't show completely. Yesterday when I moved the mouse it made spiral trails with the graphics, very strange. I'm really concerned! Help... I've restarted it, powered it off last night, etc.
You can always take your Mac in and give it a check-up for free. What will cost you is the repairs you select to have preformed. I recommend shutting your Mac down before you go to bed. Problem solved. There is no need for you to keep it running if all applications are quit. Why do you need it on?

Is it really worth upgrading?? By the sounds of the reviews, i'm not so sure but all the apps for the computer that i want, it requires me to have the new software... i don't know what to do?!!?!?! HELLPPPP!

I just downloaded the new Mavericks everything was fine this morning then my screen went black as it usually does when I leave it for an hour or so. I usually push the on button once and it comes back this time it didn't. I hold the button down and it'll go off I hold the button down and I hear it make the start up sound but nothing comes on the screen it's totally black. I'm not sure if this has anything to do with downloading the new Mavericks does anybody have any ideas. Is there any way to reboot when you can't see what's on the screen. I believe it's coming on but I cannot put in my password because I cannot see where to type it in.
This is really unfortunate. I'm sorry that nothing works. I was going to mention holding down the power button and doing a force shutdown but you already did that. You might need to take it into the Apple store. I don't know if booting into safe mode would help. You would have to turn off the machine again, hit the start button and hold down the shift key after you hear the tone, but normally you would let go of the shift key when you see the apple logo and spining wheel. Maybe by holding down the shift key after you here the tone will cause the screen to come back on? The other option is to start up from the 'install disk' if your machine came with one. You would insert the disk, then shut down the computer, and hold down the C key right after hitting the start button.

I'm looking to get a new computer and would like the the retina display. I do a fair amount of video editing and photo editing. I was wondering if the faster processor would make a difference. I was also looking at the refurbished 15" retinas and didn't know if that would be better for me or not.
If you need photo and video editing, go for the 15-inch MacBook Pro with Retina display. The 13-inch MacBook Pro with Retina display won't work correctly for what you want to use the MacBook for, as it has only got an integrated GPU, and some photo and video editing applications are not compatible with these GPUs.
Instead, the 15-inch MacBook Pro has got a quad-core processor and two GPUs, one for the general use and another one for tasks that require extra performance, so it will work better. If you don't mind losing performance to save money, go for the 13-inch MacBook Pro, and note that you have 14 days to return the MacBook Pro if it doesn't meet your needs -

We are having old home movies put on DVD's. How do we import them to MacBook pro using Snow Leopard and iMovie 8.0.6? Can watch the movies on the laptop, but they will not import.
We took 3 video cassette 8mm that were recorded in the early 90's to a place that burned the videos onto 3 DVDs. When inserted to our Mac, the DVD player comes on to play the DVD. Opened Quicktime, but can find no way to import. Went to File>Open File>Sony_DVD_Recorder_Volume. Clicked on Sony_DVD-Recorder_Volume and it shows a file named VIDEO_TS. Clicked on that and 6 files showed VIDEO_TS.BUP, VTS_01-0.BUP, VTS_01_0.IFO, VTS-01_1.VOB, VTS_01_2.VOB, VTS_01_3.VOB. Where is DVDxDV?

I am having a macbook pro 13" whenever I connect my reliance netconnect to it its volume goes down by 50%...
The problem is the Reliance software. You can verify this in the crash report. Try bypassing the Reliance software and just use the Network System Preference pane. Enter the same infromation there as you would in the Reliance software. Then hit "connect." It's worked pretty well for me.

Is anyone having a problem connecting 400 firewire thru an adapter for the 800 firewire port on a Macbook Pro 2011? It does a kernel panic every time I connect it. Is there a "proper way" to connect it? Just in case it makes a difference I am trying to hook up an Avid Mbox Pro for Pro tools.
What is the part number and model of Firewire adapter?
I have used them in the past without any problems whatsoever.

Hi! is it possible that Logic X has upgrades that work only with mavericks and does t work in mountain lion....since in my macbook pro with mavericks i have new views of the equalizer, etc and in my mac pro with mountain lion it still the old view...
Any OS version of 10.8.4 or later has all features that are not OS depended. The plugins are one example. You probably haven't updated all versions of Logic Pro X to the latest one.

Since updating my macbook pro to IO X Mavericks, my iCloud email account will not hold its password. Apple support cannot provide a resolution. Does anyone have any suggestions?
Have you tried - in Mail go to the menu Mail > Preferences.
When the Preferences Pane opens, click on the Accounts Tab.
Click on your iCloud Account to select it.
Click on the Advanced tab.
Set Authentication to Apple Token.
Close the Preference Pane.

Negative reviews are common place here as it is a trouble shooting forum. If you want to read the advantages, improvements and new features then go to the Apple site. If you are running Word 2004, Early Adobe suite, etc which are PPC programs, then don't update. Go to Apple logo in upper left menu bar, open About this mac > More Info > Software >Applications and sort by 'Kind' and look what PPC programs you have installed. If you are not prepared to upgrade these programs, then do not update to Lion.
There are plenty of threads to read up on about this here. But remember that 99.9% of comments will be negative, even though the forums represent only a tiny fraction of the Millions of Lion Downloads purchased and installed with no issues at all. So basically it's your call.
