HT1338 somehow I installed the old pages over new pages for OSX Maverick now I have 2 and new version won't open files?
Somehow after upgrading to OSX Maverick I downloaded new pages version and loved it. Somehow l LAST WEEK I downloaded the old version of
pages and now the new pages files wont open? How do I uninstall the old pages?
You should be able to reinstall the new version.....
Out of curiosity, how did you install the old version over the new? I would have thought that was impossible.

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.
If you've already tried a complete uninstall and reinstall try opening iTunes in safe mode (hold down CTRL+SHIFT as you start iTunes) then going to Edit > Preferences > Store and turning off Show iTunes in the Cloud purchases. You may find iTunes will now start normally.

Do I still need to use the old mobile me backup system for backing up all my data and having it able to get at in case of a crash, or can the icloud reset everything? Because I can not find any structured refrence, as to how it would be done. I am updated to Maverics. Also does the icloud continue if I uninstall the backup to free up space?
MobileMe was discontinued in 2012 and all the data stored on it was deleted, and iCloud can't make backups of Macs.
What I recommend you to make backups is to get an external drive and use Time Machine or an application like Carbon Copy Cloner. With this, you can access to your data everywhere and safely, and then, if you want, use a cloud storage service like CrashPlan. You can keep on using iCloud without backups -

It has just changed my number over.I would not be able to give you idiot proof guide, since different games are different. Some of them have icloud integrated already, but those already taken care of. Some of them use specific logins and once you log - you get your info. General recommendation is to contact support sites of those games for enabling icloud instructions or enabling of transfer. There are other purely apple ways - like sync your phone in itunes and then sync apps with ipad, but those are only one time transfer. There is another way that is not typically recommended - restoring ipad from iphone backup. It may transfer your game content, but once again sync in the future has to be done by game.
So if I were you, I would address that individually with every game provider. -
Installing new drive for OSX-How do I format and remove existing drive
I'm going to replace the 320G drive that came in my Mac Pro with a 500G. I want to format and remove the 320G, then put OSX on the 500G. How would I go about this.
Hi,
Shut down computer, add the 500GB drive into one of the open hard drive slots, reboot, there might be a window that pops up indicating if you want to "intialize" the new drive. Click Intialize (If nothing comes up launch disk utility located in applications--> utilities--> disk utility).
In the disk utility window, locate the new drive on the left side column. Click on the drive, and in the middle portion of the window there will be 5 tabs: First Aid, Erase, Partition, RAID, Restore. Click Partition.
Under Volume Scheme, choose how many partitions you want. I your case you probably just want 1 partition, so choose 1 partition.
Name the volume under volume information, choose Mac OS Extended (Journaled) for format.
Looking at the buttons below press "Options". Your mac is intel make sure "GUID Partition Table" is clicked.
Press Partition. Wait a couple seconds for it to partition. Once done, it will show up on the desktop. It's ready to go.
Next step to decide is if you want to fresh install the OS onto this new 500GB drive OR simply clone over your 320GB. This is up to you. If you don't want to reinstall everything just use a cloning program such as "Superduper!" or "Carbon Copy Cloner".
If you want to fresh install the OS, insert the OS disk that came with the mac pro. Restart. When restarting hold down the letter "c" on the keyboard to boot from disk. Follow the instructions, and choose "erase and install". If you are going to fresh install, BE SURE TO CHOOSE THE BLANK 500GB, NOT YOUR CURRENT 320GB. To fresh install, the choice is "Erase and Install" I think. Install and your 500GB drive should be ready to go, with a brand new OS installed.
Whether you choose to clone over your system, or fresh install, if possible always run "Disk Warrior" or "Tech Tools" maintenance disks if you have them either after the OS install or after installing all your applications.

I installed the 10.9.4 update and now Software Update and the App Store won't open. I don't know what other information might be relevant here.Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
The title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select
SYSTEM LOG QUERIES ▹ All Messages
from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar at the top of the screen.Click the Clear Display icon in the toolbar. Then try the action that you're having trouble with again. Select any messages that appear in the Console window. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command-V.
The log contains a vast amount of information, almost all of which is irrelevant to solving any particular problem. When posting a log extract, be selective. A few dozen lines are almost always more than enough.
Please don't indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.

Just installed the X-FI I/O Drive Upgrade...NOW I have proble
I have been using my X-Fi just fine for the last 3 months. No problems whatsoever. However, I got really tired of having to get to the back of my computer and switch cords between my speaker system and my mic. Thanks to the "Flexi Jack", you can only use one at a time. I use a mic and headphones in games, but use my 5. speakers to listen to music, etc.
So I got the I/O dri've installed. I can now have everything hooked in at once, and also have volume controls on the front of the PC as well as the handy remote. It's very convenient.
Unfortunately, now my sound has started cutting out. I'm using the SPDIF OUT on the I/O Dri've. I don't think this can be software related, it has to be hardware. All my drivers are up to date, MOBO Bios, everything is fresh.
It's really strange. At times the sound will go continuous for 20 minutes with no interruptions. Then at other times it will cut out every 0 seconds. Very annoying. There is no hissing or static, it just cuts out for about second. Silence.
I've read through these forums and can't find anything relating to problems starting because of the I/O Dri've. What gives? Anyone have any ideas?

I have my PC and speakers plugged into a surge protector, but it's a few years old. I think I'm gonna go buy a new surge protector/conditioner, and see what that does.
If this doesn't work, I'll unplug the I/O dri've and see if my sound returns back to the way it was, with no anomalies.

My hard drive crashed. I was using my iphone as a backup for my photos.I got a new harddrive and am now trying to sync with my new hard drive but it says that to sync my data will be wiped out. I have no other backup of those pictures. How do I sync my new hard drive?
The iPhone is not designed or intended to be used as a backup storage device.
The transfer process of photos from your computer is a one way transfer process only.
Photos transferred from your computer via the iTunes sync/transfer process are optmiized for viewing on your iPhone as part of the iTunes transfer process - the orginal resolution of these photos is reduced on your iPhone. This is why transferring these photos in the opposite direction is not supported. These photos and all other photos stored on your computer's hard drive should be included with your computer's backup along with all other important data.
There are some 3rd party paid utilities that provide for transferring such data in the opposite direction, but the original resolution of these photos will be lost.

Do you mean that you updated your computer's iTunes or the iPad's iOS ?
If it's happening on all the apps that you've downloaded from the App Store, but not the Apple built-in ones, then try downloading any free app from the store (as that appears to reset something) and then re-try them - the free app can then be deleted.
If it's happening on all apps then try closing them all completely and then see if they work when you re-open them : from the home screen (i.e.not with any app 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of each app to close them, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
If that doesn't work then you could try a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot. -
I have OS X I think. In any case I installed an updated firefox and my OS itself isn't updated enought to run it. So can I either somehow downgrade to the old firefox or at least somehow access and export my bookmarks?

Yes, you have to find the catalog file from the CC trial (use your operating system to search for it, the file name ends with .LRCAT), and then once you find it, open the LR5 trial and open the catalog you just found using File->Open Catalog
