The Java Runtime Environment cannot be found.   installing a dlink security camera

Okay, so I had the same problem with my dLink cameras after following the links on mydLink.com.
Apparently using the download of Java Runtime Environment (JRE) from the Java site creates a problem. Given a choice, don't do it that way, but if you've already downloaded it and installed it (which I did on two of my three Macs) there's a solution.
If you haven't downloaded JRE as directed by dLink, then go to Spotlight and search for Java.  You'll find Java Preferences.  When you run it, you will be asked if you want to download JRE.  Say yes and then make sure the enable applet box is checked.  myDLink.com should run fine and you will see your camera or cameras.  Works great.
If you already downloaded JRE from the Java site as directed by the DLink site, you have to do a little work to get rid to do the reinstall.
In file manager, go to the HD drive.  Click on System, then Library, then Java. Delete the three folders from the Java folder. .
Then reinstalled MAC OSX   You do this by restarting the system and holding the command key and the r key down as the computer restarts.  You can let go of the keys when the gray apple appears.  Work your way through and just reinstall the operating system.  All of your files will be fine - just like installing the new version of OSX from the App Store.  (Good idea to backup your computer first with Time Machine or whatever you use.)
After reinstalling, which takes about an hour, go to Spotlight and search for Java.  You'll find Java Preferences.  When you run it, you will be asked if you want to download JRE.  Say yes and then make sure the enable applet box is checked.
Apple Care was great in helping me through the problem.  The first technical support guy couldn't find the solution, so he turned me over to more senior person who figured out the fix.
good luck.

  • "The Java Runtime Environment cannot be loaded..." Error Message

After downloading and installing the Java Plug-In (j2re-1_3_1_01a-win.exe) I return to the Plug-In page (the one with the steaming coffee cup) and get the following error message: "The Jave Runtime Environment cannot be loaded from <4d\bin\hotspot\jvm.dll>"
The odd characters before the \bin change every time I leave and then return to the page. Reloading the page gives the same set of odd characters. Has anyone seen this and if so how do I get this thing to work? I tried downloading Beta 3 of the 1.4 version of the plg-in. When visiting the page with the steaming coffee cup after installing this version, IE (6.0.2600) disappears. The browser just closes without giving error messages or anything else. Thanks in advance for any help.

    Hello Phinnegan et all,
the problem is NOT solved in JRE 1.4.2_04 (build 05b)... the only solution that worked for me (too) was the one suggested by the mighty capaloco and that I enclose here together with your answer slightly below.
Hope this confirmation will be of some help and thanks to capaloco for the effective solution.

It worked for me. It seems that you just need to delete the file deployment.properties.
I found it under: Program Data\Sun\Java\Deployment

As the poster jessh indicated above, the bug is logged and workaround provided at the JDC site.
Having gone there and read the sun response, here is the problem and simple solution.
The problem is that if you ever had 1.3.1_xx version of the JRE loaded, then loaded a 1.4.2_xx version, some registry keys were removed, and that's why you're getting the "cannot load runtime environment" error.
Rather than manually adding registry keys for those of you who are uncomfortable with that, you just need to re-install the 1.3.1_10 version of hte JRE. If you need to have both the 1.4.2 version and 1.3.1 version available, you have to install the 1.3.1 version LAST so it will recreate the registry keys removed by thte 1.4.2 installation.
This problem is apparently fixed by sun in the 1.4.2_4 version of the JRE (the installation simply re-creates the registry entries that are removed), which is not released yet (as far as I know).
Hope this helps, and thanks to jessh who pointed me to this solution.

  • The java runtime environment cannot be loaded: different DLL's used?

A few time now I've ran into "The java runtime environment cannot be loaded" when opening a page in Internet Explorer as a domain user (with administrator rights). After deinstalling/installing/cleaning registry the message keeps appearing.
What I found out is that the PC's local administrator account (Windows XP) uses 'npjpi160_06.dll' for the SUN Java Console (Tools->Manage Add-ons->Enable or disable add-ons...), but the IE shows 'ssv.dll for the SUN Java Console when logged in as a domain user.
The SUN Java Console add-ons was not listed after the deinstall of all Java version/updates. But after installation different DLL's are listed for local administrator and domain user. When opening the same page the "The java runtime environment cannot be loaded" message appeared for the domain user, but not for the administrator.
So, why are different DLL's used? How can this be fixed?

I found that I had to modify the registery permissions on the key [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes]. For some reason, some of my users that were power users still did not have enough rights on that key. With the user logged in, I had to access their registry remotely and choose to inherit permissions from the key above and remove all the extra permissions that were not inherited. When you access the registry remotely, you will only see 2 hives HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, and HKEY_USERS. When you see HKEY_USERS, the current user will be the long number without the _class at the end.  This gave the logged in user full control of the key [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes].

  • The Java Runtime Environment cannot be loaded

When viewing my website I get the above message. I click on ok, go into the site, but when changing pages I get the following "several java virtual machines running in the same process caused an error". On other computers there is no problem. The website was developed using Serif WebPlus 10 on Windows XP SP2.

The Java Runtime Environment cannot be loaded, followed by multiple java machines in the same process causing an error. I had the same thing happen to me in IE version 7. Eventually I did a few radical things to fix the issue. One of the things I did, or combination of things, eventually fixed it. I'd close and re-open IE7 with each different thing I tried so as to reset it. I uninstalled every Java RTE update, and there were about 5 of them, and then reinstalled the latest (1.5 Update 10). I turned off Tabbed browsing (once it was fixed I turned it back on). From MS Control Panel - Java, General Tab, Delete Files... I deleted everything Java cached. From the Java Tab, View... Button, I removed all Java runtime parameters for the 1.5.0_10 line so it just starts up with defaults. (Basically undoing memory parameter fixes another thread said to try, I typed in to try and fix it, and this did not work "-Xmx256M" this setting caused more harm than good). Well, that's what I did, and now I can browse websites with Java again. It's probably a little radical, but the error message wasn't very helpful in pinpointing what exactly caused the problem in the first place. Good luck.

  • The Java Runtime Environment cannot be loaded from \bin\server\jvm.dll

I have been trying to use the java plug-in on the new JDK 1.5 in conjunction with older installations (1.4.2 and so on).
The very first time that I installed JDK 1.5 the plug-in worked fine and there were no problems.
If I tried to go into control panel and change which plugin is available or not all hell breaks loose and I suspect the only way to fix this is to unistall everything and reinstall everything.
I tried the latest snapshot build of JDK 1.5 (build 57). I had to unistall JDK beta2 and then install the beta. That didn't work either
This has been reported and dismissed by sun.
    http://bugs.sun.com/bugdatabase/view_bug.do?bug_id=5013503
However I can assure you that this is a genuine bug.
    Please somebody back me up.

    Hi,
I have managed to fix my machine now.
Firstly I found I had an old JRE installed inside
Oracle so I removed that and checked the JAVA_HOME
environment variable pointed to the new 1.5
installation. Not sure if this fixed it though - just
    house keeping I think.
What fixed it for me, I am 99% sure, was going to
    c:\Documents And Settings\MyUserName\Sun and then
deleting the entire Java directory.I would like to confirm what has already been described above. I was running J2SE 1.4.2 and I installed J2SE 5.0. I noticed that the Java plugin stopped working. So I deleted the Java directory in c:\Documents and Settings\MyUserName\Sun and it fixed the problem.
The problem... I think... may have to do something with the fact that there was already a Plugin in place when another one was installed over it. The Java directory in the directory that was deleted had a deployment.properties file that I looked at before deleting it. This hints towards the problem

  • The java runtime environment cannot be loaded from C:\...\jvm.dll

I have uninstalled all the updates and old installs of java and then reinstalled a brand new download, but am still getting this error. What's going on? Is my registry messed up? How can I fix it? Warning: I am a lot more technical than the average person but probably a lot less technical than most of the people on this forum. Be gentle. :)

    Hmmm. I don't know..
    Based on this thread....
    http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jspa?forumID=30&threadID=460134
    ....I would check the following:
Be sure there isn't another version of Java installed on the computer. Try running the application to uninstall software and see how many versions of java are
    listed there.
Be sure to restart the computer after deleting from the cache.
Clear the Temporary Internet Files folder. Specifically removing any Active X controls there.
Go to the Plugin Control and reselect the jvm that is desired.
Be sure that 8dot3 file name creation was enabled when java was installed.
Check the PATH variable - be sure it isn't pointing to an old or removed jvm
Take a look at a related bug report
    http://bugs.sun.com/bugdatabase/view_bug.do?bug_id=6211536
And finally, and reluctantly, sniff around the registry and check that there isn't some sort of reference to an old or removed jvm in there. Some description of this can be found in the bug report.

  • The Java Runtime Environment  cannot be loaded from \bin\hotspot\jvm.dll

HiI'm trying to run/call the Hyperion Analyzer Client 6.5 on my Laptop (Windows XP) but fail. For one or the other strange reason Hyperion cannot load the jvm.dll. This could be caused by the fact, that I have multiple jvm installations due to an Oracle 10g installation. I've added the JAVA_HOME variable, updated the PATH and re-installed the RuntimeEnvironment but nothing helps. The value for the registry RuntimeLib (1.3 and 1.3.0) is "C:\Program Files\JavaSoft\JRE\1.3.0_02\bin\hotspot\jvm.dll " Any help is more than appreciated cheers RobertJAVA_HOME := C:\Program Files\JavaSoft PATH := %JAVA_HOME%\JRE\1.3.0_02\bin\hotspot;D:\oracle\product\10.1.0\Db_2\bin;D:\oracle\product\10.1.0\Db_2\jre\1.4.2\bin\client;D:\oracle\product\10.1.0\Db_2\jre\1.4.2\bin;D:\HYPERION\ESSBASE\BIN;%SystemRoot%\system32;%SystemRoot%;%SystemRoot%\System32\Wbem;C:\Program Files\ATI Technologies\ATI Control Panel;C:\Program Files\Common Files\Roxio Shared\DLLShared;d:\hyperion\eis\bin

Try installing your JRE under the root directory (C:). When the JRE is installed under "Program Files", the space between "Program" and "Files" can cause problems. Don't forget to repoint your JAVA_HOME system variable.-Graff

As Miriam has helpfully pointed out, Pith Helmet is a Safari plug in. You won't find it in Applications, rather you'll see it in your home folder's Library/Application Support.
As you have now added, these difficulties are being experienced with all three browsers, then you can discount Pith Helmet as it is Safari only, but it was a relevant suggestion based on your first post. I use it to cut out a lot of the 'ad noise' you get on sites.
As Nathan has said, 10.5 should be working fine on your hardware, and agree with his fresh approach suggestion. But as you don't have the 10.5 disks to do this you need to get your own set of disks. Disks are not just software, but also have utility functions that you may require in the future. Also with Apple, legally, you must own the operating system installed. Currently you don't.
As you got the computer for free, buying a set of Retail Leopard Disks, has you still in front.
Prior to this, you could remove Firefox completely and download and install it again and see if that works properly, but that would be surprising as it appears to be some system wide defect and your thoughts about a malfunctioning Java runtime is a likely cause.

    1. Try re installing JRE.
    2. Check in the internet explorer --> Tool-->Options
there whether the browser is JVm enabled it should be in that list also.
    3. Then in the Registry ie; regedit
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE ---- > Software ----> JAVASOFT---> Java Runtime Environment---> Click on it
then on right hand side you will see Current Version.
in which the value should be 1.4

When I need to use java I get several error messages as:
The java runtime environment cannot be loaded.
And Java(TM) Plug-in Fatal error. Several java virtual machines running in the same process caused an Error. I have no idea what to do.

check whether you have quicktime installed on your pc.
if so, remove QTtime.zip or something like that from your "path" environment variable.
take a look at your JDK_INSTALL_DIR/jre/lib/ext/. If you find the QTtime.zip there, so remove it.

  • HT202912 I get the message "To view this web content, you need to install the Java Runtime Environment" Do I need two versions as this article suggests?

I just upgraded to Yosemite on my 2010 MacBook Pro.  When I reboot I get the message "To view this web content, you need to install the Java Runtime Environment" and I've also seen the same pop-up once while running OpenOffice.  And now while composing this post.
Yes - I followed the link and installed the Oracle version of Java, version 8, and the test page confirms that I have the current version running.
I read some threads on discussions.apple.com but didn't like the answers.
    I found this:  http://www.macworld.co.uk/how-to/mac-software/advanced-tips-for-mac-os-x-yosemit e-3582877/
and tip # 10 seems to answer my question.
Anyone else have experience on this?

Most likely, you have either the Facebook video calling plugin or the "NexDef" plugin for watching baseball streams. Both depend on the Java runtime distributed by Apple. If you no longer need the plugin, remove it. Otherwise, install Java.

Hi, Thanks for that further bug description In Your Last Message That Describes The Problem I Am Having perfectly and is exactly the same for me.
unfortunately that fix for my camera Powershot G6 does not work or apply as the view pictures switch is different on G6 is not usable during download as once you plug in DC/USB cable it turns off, and makes no diff and problem still exists exactly as you just described.
    thanks anyways "Selz Boy"
it has been 17 days since apple promised to get back to me within 3-5 days hopefully with a solution, but I have still not heard from them.
They blew me off, i guess, probably i will have to wait for new Yosemite OS update, which they pre-warned me could take as much as 6 months.
I cannot believe apple released this new update with such major bug issues for camera downloads and that horrible "Photos" pgm which has all sorts of downgrades in features, usefulness and new bugs compared to iPhotos which I just finally got used to and was much better software.
I am starting to lose faith in Apple and I am getting that Microsoft "FEEL" like I used to have when I was a PC user, which was why I originally switched to Apple  computers in first place.
Oh well got my fingers crossed here.
Thankfully the memory card reader solution  is working well, but cost me $45.

The only fix I know of for this issue is to reboot the host.
If there is another fix someone please let me know as I have users who run into this often.
