However you can still use 3rd party solutions like Airparrot which do it via software

  • Can anyone recommend a portable USB 3.0 drive with hardware encryption, compatible with OSX and Windows 7.  I need it for my MacBook Pro 13", 2012, running Mountain Lion

Can anyone recommend a portable USB 3.0 drive with hardware encryption, compatible with OSX Mountain Lion and Windows 7.  I need it for my MacBook Pro 13”, 2012, running Mountain Lion & Windows 7 Ultimate - BootCamp.  I’ve heard that the Buffalo MiniStation Encryption does not work with OSX, is that true..?  I'd like it to work with both operating systems, using the built in hardware encryption.  Thanks

  • Is there a plug in to make my 2007 macbook pro able to install Mountain Lion

Is there a plug or something in to make my 2007 macbook pro able to install Mountain Lion?
I bought it in early 2007 so just miss out on the cut off point. Is compatibilty based on Hardware or software?
    Thanks

No. The architechture is too old. I think Lion will be as far as you can go, as a guess without knowing your specs. But if the machine cannot run Mountain Lion then there is no way of doing it (short of replacing the mechanics which would be more expensive than buying a more up to date Mac)

I have to input a password to log in to my Macbook Pro Santa Rosa under Mountain Lion. Now suddenly the built-in keyboard doesn't work at all so I cannot use my computer. I also notice that the bluetooth function is activated automatically even though I turn it off. It looks for an external keyboard. Please help me out. Many thanks!

I have the exact same problem trying to use the Remote app on both my iPhone 3gs and iPad 2 with either my Mac or ATV2.  My Remote app used to work on my phone - I can't recall if I ever actually used it with my iPad, but when I tried today, I got all the same results as you did (on both iPad, and then iPhone).  I  was using my ATV2 to play music from iTunes on my Mac and wanted to use the Remote app, but it would not connect to either device no matter what I did.

  • Macbook Pro runs slow using Mountain Lion?

I have access to use a Macbook Pro which is running Mountain Lion. However, the MBP runs very slowly and the coloured wheel is constantly spinning with almost everything I try to do. I do not know why and would like to be able to have a normal running MBP.
I wondered whether installing Yosemite might help? Or I have read some posts about resetting the System Management Controller. Please can someone give me some advice as to what to do that will work?
    Thank you

Installing Yosemite will probably NOT help.
Slow MBPs usually are a result of a failing HDD, third party software (often so called 'cleaning' or 'performance' applications) or unnecessary AV software.
SMC resets are good for certain hardware issues and will also probably NOT address the issue.
Download and post an Etrecheck report which may provide some clues:

  • I re-booted my macbook pro recently and downloaded mountain lion. Afterwards iPhoto disappeared and I'm having difficulty restoring it. Any suggestions?

I rebooted my macbook pro recently and downloaded mountain lion. Afterwards iPhoto dissapeared and I canr seem to restore it. Any suggestions?

Rebooting is the same as restarting. That should not have any effect on what software is installed on your machine unless something is very, very wrong. Do you mean that you erased the hard drive and installed Mountain Lion? If so, you will also need to reinstall iPhoto. What system did your machine originally ship with? If it came with disks, you can reinstall the iLife apps from the Applications disk.

  • If I upgraded my MacBook Pro from Snow Leopard to Lion via the web and now wish to erase the hard drive and restore it to factory settings to sell.  How do I accomplish this?

I upgraded the operating system on my MacBook Pro from Snow Leopard to Lion via the web.  Now I need to erase the hard drive and restore it to factory settings, so that I can pass it on.  How do I accomplish this?  When I insert the Mac OS X install disk, the only option is to erase the free space.  Any insight would be appreciated.
    Thank you

You need to boot off the original Snow Leopard DVD's that came with the system.
Once you are running off of the DVD you will be able to do a clean install of SL
To boot off the DVD with the system up running Lion insert the DVD. Open Sytem Preferences->Startup Disk and select the DVD then restart the machine.

  • MacBook Pro often unresponsive in Mountain Lion. Should I upgrade to Mavericks?

Hi, I upgraded to Mountain Lion from Snow Leopard about a month ago. Since then, my MacBook Pro has often become unresponsive, giving me the spinning beach ball -- or doing nothing at all -- when I have just a few applications running. (Typically, these may be Mail, Safari, iTunes and sometimes Adobe Lightroom 5.) I have a 2011 MacBook Pro with a 2.7GHz Intel Core i7 and 4GB of factory-installed RAM. It was a snappy performer in Snow Leopard. I'm wondering now if I should try upgrading to Mavericks, and perhaps get a boost from the memory compression. Or will this potentially take whatever problems are slowing me down now and make them worse? Interested to hear your opinions, thanks.

Try booting into the Safe Mode using your normal account.  Disconnect all peripherals except those needed for the test. Shut down the computer and then power it back up. Immediately after hearing the startup chime, hold down the shift key and continue to hold it until the gray Apple icon and a progress bar appear. The boot up is significantly slower than normal. This will reset some caches, forces a directory check, and disables all startup and login items, among other things. When you reboot normally, the initial reboot may be slower than normal.
