HT1338 Uploading from Canon 400D to iPhotos

I am experiencing a similar problem to many other current users. Blank thumnails, photos from previous albums layering over new album. I have been using iphotos since 2008. Since going to iCloud and having to upgrade to the latest Lion OS I seem to have encountered these problems. I am not technically inclined and can't understand if so many people have a problem why Apple do not fix it. What is their problem? Too much money?

Apple can't fix your problem. The issue is that your Library is corrupted.
Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
If that fails:
Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .

  • Uploading Movies from Canon Powershot to iPhoto

I just recently purchased a Canon Powershot A590 IS. I recorded some movies and tried to upload them to my Macbook but no matter what application I use to open it, it stops and the "Application Quit Unexpectedly" thingy pops up. It doesn't matter if I use the Canon program or iPhoto or Quicktime. Also, the videos are in AVI format if that helps. How can I get my movies to upload?? Thanks!

try image capture - in your applications folder.
You also can try a USB card reader and drag them to the desktop with the finder

  • Missing pictures and some with interference across them, following upload from Canon 60d

I am getting intermittent images missing and some with interference across them, following upload from a Canon 60d into iPhoto 9.6. on my Macbook Pro.  I have uploaded the same pictures to my iMac 2006 and they are all fine.  Anybody got any idea as to what might be happening here?

  • How to: download photos from canon 400d

    hi,
my parents has lend me their canon 400d and i would like to download the photos to my macbook.
I don't have the original canon software disc and do not have access to it as it is with my parents abroad.
i thought it would automatically pick up the camera / photos when connecting the camera to the mac? tried to see if iphoto would be able to find them but that doesn't seem to work, neither can i see it appearing when looking in the finder.
    can you advise?
only recently got my mac so might be something simple that i'm yet to try... (i hope)
    thanks,
    oppers

Hi oppers: Try this: Open iPhoto, from the iPhoto drop-down menu select Preferences > General. At the bottom of this window, "Connecting camera opens" select iPhoto.
    Hope this helps

  • Trouble importing images from Canon EOS to iPhoto

When I returned from my daughter's wedding with about 400 irreplacable photos I discovered that I could not import photos from my Canon EOS to iPhoto on my iMac.  When I initially connect my camera to the computer the images display perfectly. However, when I click "import all" the downloaded images all appear completely blank (gray).  I don't have any difficulty importing images from my iPhone.

I have had a similar experience with a few greyed out images I did not bother too much because it was not important at the time. I was wondering if you could save them into another format or file and then try importing them from there.

  • Uploading from Canon SX30 into mac with lion

I've been using photoshop CS on my older mac. Will not migrate to lion os. Also my Canon SX30 IS camera will not upload to my new powerbook. If I purchase photoshop elements 10 will the Canon memory card upload to my computer into the photoshop software?
    Thanks in advance

Probably not any better than it does now. I'd start by just getting a card reader. There's never any problem uploading from a reader. If you want to stay on the photoshop track, are you aware of adobe's new upgrade policy starting with CS6? If you don't have CS5 you can't get the upgrade price for CS6 when it comes out. If you think PSE might work for you, I would download the trial and give it a good hard workout to see if you can do everything you need with PSE.

  • Problem Importing photos from Canon Rebel XTi -- Iphoto '08

When I plug in USB cord to camera and MacBook, then turn on my Canon Rebel XTi, iPhoto opens up but will not read the CF card. The status light on the camera just blinks red as if it working on it but it never does show the photos in iPhoto08 and the camera doesn't show up on the sidebar either although it used to but doesn't anymore.
I know that my CF card is ok because when I use it in my Canon Powershot S400 it works fine, and I'm able to import photos fine.
    Help please?

Thanks, I'm fairly certain that WILL work since the card works with iPhoto in my other camera fine.
I don't have a card reader and I'd like to figure out how to fix the problem I have with my Rebel XTi. Any suggestions on that?

  • All of my images are not showing to upload from Canon 5D to my MacBook Pro

This is driving me absolutely insane.... I uploaded 250 photos from my Canon 5D but I was having issues with them so I deleted them from my Mac and from Lightroom as well.  I went to upload them back onto my Mac and it's showing a different amount of photos each time I try to connect the camera.  It has shown 80, then 120 and sometimes it shows 25... I have no idea why Lightroom doesn't want to show all of the pics on my Canon 5D to import... PLEASE help.. one solution I'm thinking of is to connect my external HD to my wife's laptop with Windows XP and import them onto the external hard drive then connect the HD to my Mac and import them that way.. any ideas, thoughts suggestion or solutions would be greatly appreciated.. this seems so elementary to be happening with two such high caliber technologies.. Mac and Adobe.. please HELP!

  • IMovie crashes as soon as I start upload from Canon Vixia HF R100

I have two SD cards with footage from a Canon Vixia HF R100. The first one (8 GB) with about 12 minutes of footage on it uploads perfectly fine to iMovie. The second one (8 GB) has only one minute of space left on it. When I insert the second SD card into the video camera and connect it to the computer through the USB it crashes iMovie as soon as I hit "import from camera". So here are my questions: what could be causing this? Also how could I fix this or at least work around it through a converter? I would prefer to be able to upload directly to iMovie or Final Cut; as I'm only uploading to iMovie so I can bring it into Final Cut
    Thanks,
    Iggy.

which manual are you talking about? the camera does show up on the desktop but will only let me view photos from there not video. when i try and open it from final cut as a folder it also just uploads the photos to the program.

  • Can't upload from Canon Mark III 5D CF card

I can't upload my photos from my Canon MarkIII 5D's CF card.  The images are not able to be previewed and I can't seem to get them uploaded any other way either.  HELP.
    What am I doing wrong?

The 5D Mark III was first supported in Lightroom 4.1.
The last version 4 ever released by Adobe was 4.4.1 so ensure you're running 4.4.1.

  • Lightroom 1.1 + Vista = No RAW import direct from canon 400D

My laptop runs on XP and my desktop on Vista and I have a 400D, lightroom 1.1, PS CS2 and camera raw 4.1. I've just migrated my workflow into lightroom which i'm enjoying.
Both computers read and edit RAW files fine and i've exported and imported catlogs between them.
My laptop imports RAW files from my camera but my desktop (vista) says that there are no files to import. Either i've done something wrong in setting up lightroom or there appears to be some kind of driver problem.
I can see them in windows, copy them off my camera in windows and then import them in lightroom from my computer, but not directly from my camera

  • How can I import photo notes from Canon Zoombrowser to iPhoto?

    Hi all,
I used Canon Zoombrowser on various PCs before recently changing to a Mac, and have years' worth of photos all painstakingly annotated using the Notes field in Zoombrowser. When I import these photos to iPhoto there is no sign of the content of the Notes field. (In an ideal world, I guess it would automatically appear in the Description field.)
I know the Notes field info is stored with the .jpg file, as it's there when I copy photos to other PCs and view them using Zoombrowser. Just wondering if anyone else has faced this problem, and what to do to fix it? Don't want to lose years' worth of notes!
    Thanks
    Anna

Welcome to the Apple user to user assistance forums
I have never heard of Cannon Zoombrowser - in doing a google search on it it appears to be a proprietary program for processing movies
iPhoto works with photo standards - if the date is in industry standard EXIF or IPTC fields - http://www.controlledvocabulary.com/imagedatabases/iptc_naa.html - they are correctly processed in iPhoto - if they are in non standard fields then iPhoto will not handle them
So the answer is that it depends on if Cannon Zoombrowser handles the data in a standard way or not

  • Can not import photos from Canon camera to iphoto '11

When connecting my Canon to iphoto '11 I click on the "Import photos" button and get the following message:
    Unreadable files: 113
The following files could not be imported. The file is an unrecognized format.
This is the first time this has ever happened to me. I've done nothing different that I'm aware of. They are all jpegs.
    Any ideas?

I just had the same issue with an S-90 (I also have never had this problem before.) and had to use a card reader (my iMac has one built in) instead of importing through the camera.  The built-in card reader worked with no problem.

  • Why is there no audio when I upload from Canon Video cam to imovie?

When I attempt to ulpoad from my Canon Elura 90 to imovie, the video is there but not the audio. Have imovie 9.0.4 and Mac os 10.6.8

I had the same problem a long time ago. I don't remember it for sure but I guess it had something to do with the bit numbers of the camcorder (the audio setting in this respect).(it was solved with posting it on a Mac website)
