Both of those MacBooks can run up to 10.7 Lion. (10.4.11 is Tiger) It's the RAM that you'll need to upgrade.

You can upgrade from 10.4 straight to 10.6 with no problems as long as you have at least 1gb of RAM. Any program that runs under 10.4 should run under10.6. I recently upgraded an older MacBook (Early 2006 model 1,1) straight from 10.4 to 10.6.
Once you are at 10.6.8 Lion is still available from Apple. You will have to call Apple Customer Care 1-800-692-7753 or 1-800-676-2775. to purchase it. You must have at least a Late 2006 model 2,1 MacBook.
Lion will require at least 2gb of RAM but really needs 4gb to run smoothly.

Also Lion doesn't run any Power PC programs. To see if you have any Power PC programs go to the Apple in the upper left corner and select About This Mac, then click on More Info. When System Profiler comes up select Applications under Software. Then look under Kind to see if any of your applications are listed as Power PC. Universal and Intel will run under Lion.
Before Mac switched to Intel processors in 2006 they used Power PC processors from 1994 to 2005. Power PC 601 through 604, G3, G4 and G5. Applications written for the Power PC processors need the application called Rosetta to run on Intel processors. This was part of the Operating System in 10.4 and 10.5 but was an optional install in 10.6. With 10.7 Lion Apple dropped all support for Power PC applications.

Ok, it's a PPC app. That means it needs Rosetta. Rosetta was gone by Mac OS 10.7, so that is out of the question.
Rosetta is an option you can install in 10.6. So it may be possible in that system.
Acrobat 7 listed as its official requirements "10.2.8 or 10.3" but it still runs as of 10.5, from my testing.
Acrobat 6, though is from the early days of Mac OS X. (Acrobat 5 was released for Mac OS 9), In 2003, we were on Mac OS 10.3.
It might run in later systems, I suspect the first thing to fail would be the Adobe PDF printer driver.

I am planning to buy a new iMac. I understand that the iMacs Apple is selling now will not run 10.8. While I can afford to buy a new iMac I can't affordto buy and relearn all the key software which will not run on Maverics. I want to update the OS X on my eMac, but can not afford OS X 10.5.8. I currently have OS X 10.4.11. The highest all eMacs can go to is Leopard 10.5.8. Like the others said, an install CD set is the only way to do this, I don't know if apple has them anymore but they usually go for around $60 online and eBay. Once you upgrade to 10.5.8, you can run safari 5.0.6, which lets you do almost anything online. Or on the other hand, for the $60 you'd spend on a CD set you could probably buy another used mac online which already has 10.5.8 for almost the same price.

Are the files related to that software?
You can try to set all software/extensions related to the files in Firefox ask to activate, but if these are not update files perhaps a malware scan?

Hi there, I have mac running osx 105 with kaspersky internet security. All up to date. I have not downloaded anything not approved by apple and do not visit sites not approved or certificate. · days my computer was acting strange, files stops uploading on hightail. Then problems really started. I could not do a full scan, after about 3% it said scan complete, that was after 5 minutes, a full scan normally takes 1.7 hours. I opened in safe mode but kaspersky would not open message always said opening. I could not scan. I could however download files in safe so I re installed kaspersky. I then opened mac in normal mode and was able to install new virus. THEN I RAN A SCAN AND IT FOUND 2x trojen-downloader Js.ifr active threats. It removed/ quaranteend them, but sai there was still active trojans and could not remove but all is not OK. I cannot access apple sites, my emails freaking out , I now cannot do full scan-I am wrting this from a PC as I don’t dare play with my Mac until the right help arrives……
Everyone says wipe disk and reinstall. the problem is this trojan does not allow kaspersky do finish scan and find other trojans. So this advice is not good if i cannot find the sourse of the trojan. This trojan blocks me trying to access apple downloads it only gives me access to sites not registered or registered unsafe. Every time i try to access safe sites it switches off my interenet. I have screen shots of all this. People say this is not a mac virus but i have information that claims this trojan can morph into mac. If it is not this then the other trojans still in my system but unknown are th cause.

I can't get updates. Win 7. I cannot connect to the apple software update service, check my internet settings- is the message I am getting. Which particular settings are they referring to? I have allowed apple through my firewall, I have allowed all apple programs to run at start up. I don't know what else I can do, or where the settings are they want me to check?
