    Hello,
First you must get 10.6, install it & update to 10.6.8 so you have the App Store to buy & download the huge 10.8 Installer.
    Snow Leopard/10.6.x Requirements...
    General requirements
       * Mac computer with an Intel processor
        * 1GB of memory (I say 4GB at least, more if you can afford it)
        * 5GB of available disk space (I say 30GB at least)

        * Some features require Apple’s MobileMe service; fees and terms apply.

I have been running Leopard because I have been able to use my old Appleworks program to run my collection of old files.  I just bought an oPhone 5 and I realize that I have to make the jump over to the latest system software.  What steps do I need to take to get my Macbook Pro over to the latest Mountain Lion?  Can I save my important files to an external drive and then just wipe the macbook drive clean and start anew?

A service like efax is the easiest way. You get a phone number assigned so that you can receive, and to send you email and they send it out as a fax.

  • What software do I need to get music from a vinyl record into ITunes

What software do I need to get music from a vinyl record into ITunes

When I used Audacity to digitize some of my LPs I would record the whole album, then trim the lead in, select and export the first track, delete that, then export the next track, and so on. You can zoom in and out to locate the track breaks. There is a snap to zero point option which should prevent clicks on track transitions. If you want to go deeper you can add fade in and out so you don't snap into the sound of the groove. (I was using a pretty ropey turntable). There are other tools that chop up audio but you should be able to do it all in Audacity reasonably quickly once you get your eye in. I'm sure there are tools that can chop audio at pre-specified points, or even calculate where those points should be, but they are unlikely to be free and probably still need a degree of supervision.

    2. Click the Office button. Then click the Word Options button.
    3. Click Add-Ins.
    4. From the Manage dropdown list select Disabled Items and click Go.
    5. Check the list for PDFMakerOfficeAddin:
    1)      If it is listed, then select it and click Enable. Close all dialog boxes and restart the Word program.
    2)      If it is not listed, then make sure that PDFMOfficeAddin.dll is located in the ‘…/Program Files/Adobe/Acrobat 8.0/PDFMaker/Office’ folder. If the file is missing, then reinstall Acrobat.

  • Photoshop elements 12, Apple Mac, What app do i need to get to open this document?

Hi, i have just purchased photoshop elements 12, and it was nearly half way through when i had noticed it stopped. i clicked on my downloads and there was a blank looking document i clicked on it waiting for it to load, when it proceeded to tell me there was no application set to open the document. I tried to use Microsoft word but a pop up alerted me that the file was to big. Im not sure exactly what app i need to get from the app store. Please help. The document is called "PhotoshopElements_12_WWEFDJ.dmg.part"

You can import directly into iMovie from this camera. The easiest way is to remove the SDHC card and put it in a USB card reader. You can also attach the camera via USB. In this case the camera must be also hooked up to AC power (not batteries only.)
iMovie should see the camera, but if it does not, click FILE/Import from Camera.
The one gotcha is you need to record in HA mode (1920x1080 interlaced, 17 Mbps).
If you record in 60P, iMovie cannot import it.
If your existing footage is 60P, and you really need super smooth slow motion, you might consider Final Cut Pro X, which will import 60P no problem, and allow you to edit the slow motion.
If your existing footage is 60P and you would like to convert it to 30P to use in iMovie, try either ClipWrap or Voltaic HD and convert your AVCHD to Apple Intermediate Codec at 30P. This will then import into iMovie through FILE/IMPORT MOVIE.
If you are adventurous and would consider hacking iMovie, here is a blog post you can try at your own risk. I have not done this myself.

  • I need to upgrade from Mac OS x 10.6 8 what is the next step?

I need to upgrade from Mac OS x 10.6 8 what is the next step?

    Upgrading to Lion
If your computer does not meet the requirements to install Mavericks, it may still meet the requirements to install Lion.
You can purchase Lion at the Online Apple Store. The cost is $19.99 (as it was before) plus tax.  It's a download. You will get an email containing a redemption code that you then use at the Mac App Store to download Lion. Save a copy of that installer to your Downloads folder because the installer deletes itself at the end of the installation.
         Lion System Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7,
               or Xeon processor
           2. 2GB of memory
           3. OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
           4. 7GB of available space
           5. Some features require an Apple ID; terms apply.
    Upgrading to Mountain Lion
To upgrade to Mountain Lion you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8 or Lion installed. Purchase a redemption code at the Online Apple Store: OS X Mountain Lion. Mountain Lion is $19.99 plus tax. Use the code to redeem a download of Mountain Lion from the App Store. The file is quite large, over 4 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.
OS X Mountain Lion - System Requirements
Macs that can be upgraded to OS X Mountain Lion
             1. iMac (Mid 2007 or newer) - Model Identifier 7,1 or later.
             2. MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer) - Model
                 Identifier 5,1 or later.
             3. MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later.
             4. MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer) - Model Identifier 2,1 or later.
             5. Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later.
             6. Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later.
             7. Xserve (Early 2009) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later.
To find the model identifier open System Profiler in the Utilities folder. It's displayed in the panel on the right.

need help getting from 10.5.8 to 10.6.  i know i'm late to the game!

If you are not sure of what you are doing,If you are worried about losing anything when doing a major systems upgrade/update,
Before embarking on a major OS upgrade, it would be wise, advisable and very prudent if you backup your current system to an external connected and Mac formatted Flash drive OR externally connected USB, Thunderbolt or FireWire 800, Mac formatted hard drive. Then, use either OS X Time Machine app to backup your entire system to the external drive OR purchase, install and use a data cloning app, like CarbonCopyCloner or SuperDuper, to make an exact and bootable copy (clone) of your entire Mac's internal hard drive. This step is really needed in case something goes wrong with the install of the new OS or you simply do not like the new OS, you have a very easy way/procedure to return your Mac to its former working state.
Older version of CarbonCopyCloner found here.

Older versions of SuperDuper can be found on the SuperDuper Website and Homepage.

Then, determine if your Mac meets ALL minimum system install requirements.

  • TS2446 What do you do if you get a new apple device but can't remember the security questions?

What do you do if you get a new apple device but can't remember the security questions?

You need to ask Apple to reset your security questions; ways of contacting them include clicking here and picking a method for your country, phoning AppleCare and asking for the Account Security team, and filling out and submitting this form.
They wouldn't be security questions if they could be bypassed without Apple verifying your identity.
