Where can I buy Snow Leopard so that I may upgrade to Lion?

If you need to purchase Snow Leopard contact Customer Service: Contacting Apple for support and service. The price is $29.00 plus tax. You will receive physical media - DVD - by mail.
Third-party sources for Snow Leopard are:
Snow Leopard from Amazon.com
Snow Leopard from eBay
After you install Snow Leopard you will have to download and install the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 to update Snow Leopard to 10.6.8 and give you access to the App Store.
If you need to purchase Lion contact Customer Service: Contacting Apple for support and service. The cost is $19.99 (as it was before) plus tax.  It's a download.

  • Where can I buy Snow Leopard?

My Mac is running an older version of OS X, and when I tried to update with the new version of iTunes, it told me I needed to update to the newest version.  In order to update to Mountain Lion through the App store, I think I need to first update to Snow Leopard.  Any legitimate places I can get the software? Thanks.

  • HT1338 how can i buy snow leopard upgrade from 10.5 leopard?

I have mac pro whose operating system is os x 10.58 leopard. I want to upgrade to snow leopard from it, but I cannot buy the software. What should I do for it? Please let me know the website to buy it.

I have to do all these upgrades to finally upgrade iTunes/iCloud for my iPhone and iPad.  I just called 1-800-MY-APPLE and got a copy sent to me for $20 plus shippping and handling.  Not too bad.  The sales rep. was helpful in confirming that my system would be able to be fully upgraded to Mountain Lion and included links in the confirmation email about setting up iCloud for my devices.

I need to find Snow Leopard Server to install Freehand in a new iMac 27" with Mountain Lion on Parallels 8.

    Many thanks in advance.

where can i find snow leopard i have 10.5.8
I cant not get to the app store
I can not find it online or at any stores

Yes.  Some report shipping estimates of weeks now, but mine arrived in 5 days.
That is a US number.  If you are outside the US you should call your country's Apple support line and hope they will help you get it.

It is indeed all down to what you need to do with your machine.   Snow leopard is an excellent OS and as Baltwo suggests you have to check out your current apps and programs because PPC won't work on any higher OS than the one you have.
Andy's comment is very interesting and, I suspect, insider knowledge based     Certainly I would wait for Mavericks now it is on the horizon ... and then add six months or so for the bugs to be ironed out.
Good luck, whatever you do.   I'm staying with Snow Leopard.

  • How can I buy Snow Leopard in Russia?

I have MacBookPro '13 bought in 2008. MacOS is Leopard.
Now I would like to upgrade to Snow Leopard, since Lion is too 'heavy' for my computer (I work with graphics a lot).
However, no Apple reseller in St.Petersburg (Russia) would sell me Snow Leopard. They just say:
we only sell Lion, it's your problem that you haven't upgraded to Snow Leopard earlier.
At the same time I see that in America they sell Snow Leopard, so it's just the Russian problem.
    What shall I do?

Buy online from Apple, it's the only place sold besides Amazon etc.

If you are talking about installing OS X Snow Leopard on a Windows PC instead of Windows 7 then no, you cannot do that legally. And you really need to know what you are doing in order to do it illegally.

  • HELP! can't upgrade to snow leopard 10.6.3 to upgrade to LION (so i don't loose my mobile me account- Cause i need the iCloud) since my computer doesn't have intel processor. is there anyway to remedy this without having to purchase a new computer?

I just purchased $29.99 upgrade disk for Snow Leopard 10.6.3 and ten minutes later recieved an email from apple offering a free upgrade. I have been getting these warnings to upgrade to get to the CLOUD because my email account was going to be lost. Now my computer will not upgrade due to it not having an intel processor. This is ridiculous!! Does anyone know what I can do. This may end my relationship with Apple!!!!
    I have a iMac G5.

Hello, don't worry, you CAN set up Mail in iCloud at the very least.
Do not delete the old account yet. sign up for an iCloud account if you haven't.
I understand .mac mail will still come through. Do not delete the old account yet.
You cannot use .mac or MobileMe as type of Account, you have to choose IMAP when setting up, otherwise Mail is hard coded to change imap.mail.me.com to mail.me.com & smtp.mail.me.com to smtp.me.com, no matter what you try to enter.
iCloud Mail setup, do not choose .mac or MobileMe as type, but choose IMAP...
On second step where it asks "Description", it has to be a unique name, but you can still use your email address.
    IMAP (Incoming Mail Server) information:
    • Server name: imap.mail.me.com
    • SSL Required: Yes
    • Port: 993
    • Username: [email protected] (use your @me.com address from your iCloud account)
    • Password: Your iCloud password
    SMTP (outgoing mail server) information:
    • Server name: smtp.mail.me.com
    • SSL Required: Yes
    • Port: 587
    • SMTP Authentication Required: Yes
    • Username: [email protected] (use your @me.com address from your iCloud account)
    • Password: Your iCloud password
This may end my relationship with Apple!!!!
Everybody is out for the bottom lines these days, careful what you get locked into, especially with Apple moving towards more locked in everything.

  • Can I install Snow leopard server on the new Mac Mini Lion server?

Hi guys, I purchased a Lion Server and I am wondering if its possible to install Snow Leopard server on it.
I have the Snow Leopard Server install discs and everything , just wondering if there is any thing I should take note of, I personally prefer SLS over Lion.
    What do you guys think?

There's a huge thread on this (client, not server, but same concept) which you can find here.
