I plugged my ipod into the computer to charge and then, this morning when I went to use it there is a password lock (that I never set up) that I have no idea what it is.

Go to Settings>General>Reset>Erase all content and setting. Then re-setup the iPod with your account/media. To redownload iTunes purchases see:

Same as you would if you bought a pc; copy everything from your old computer to your new one. Then you can just sync everything from the new computer, as you did with the old one.

Is the iPod still singed into the account isn Settings>iTunes and App Stores and SettingsZ>iCloudl? If it is then I would not be concerned.

since you may have started the 90 day window.
For the other "problem", go to iTunes>Preferences>Devices and check the box that says Prevent iPod....automatically syncing.

The transfer purchases option only works for tracks that were purchased from the iTunes Store. You'll need the help of third party software to extract all other non-iTunes purchased content and music. See this older post from another forum member Zevoneer covering the different methods and software available to assist you with the task of copying content from your iPod back to your PC and into iTunes.

When i plugged my ipod into the computer it started to make buzzing and screeching noises. It became hot so i removed it and then the screen froze while it continued to make these noises. I have never had anything like this happen.

(never gotten it wet or had it exposed to extreme temperatures) It is also unresponsive to any buttons on the ipod and it didn't show up when i plugged it into my computer. What do I do? Also if it is unfixable could i get a free one from apple?

Removing and reinstalling iTunes and other software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
Before you reinstall the Apple software, also remove iCloud vi Control Panel Remove programs. The reinstall the Apple programs
New cable and different USB port?
Runs this and see if the results help with determine the cause
