I just downloaded Yosemite and all my iPhotos have disappeared! I tried importing them from the photo library but it said there wasn't enough space on my hard drive which is rubbish, because they were there before. How do I get them back to iPhoto?
There are 9 different versions of iPhoto and they run on 9 different versions of the Operating System. The tricks and tips for dealing with issues vary depending on the version of iPhoto and the version of the OS. So to get help you need to give as much information as you can. Include things like:
- What version of iPhoto.
- What version of the Operating System.
- Details. As full a description of the problem as you can. For example, if you have a problem with exporting, then explain by describing how you are trying to export, and so on.
- History: Is this going on long? Has anything been installed or deleted? - Are there error messages?
- What steps have you tried already to solve the issue.
- Anything unusual about your set up? Or how you use iPhoto?
Anything else you can think of that might help someone understand the problem you have. -
I am a CC subscriber and trying to update lr5.7 and I am told to got to my CC folder and click on install. The problem is, LR is not in my file. I guess I have been using my original lr that I bought years ago. What now? How do i get lr into the CC file?
Gary116 please remove and reinstall Lightroom by following the steps listed in CC desktop lists applications as "Up to Date" when not installed. The version of Photoshop Lightroom available through the Creative Cloud Desktop application supports your Creative Cloud Membership.

I have downloaded golf instructional videos, how do I get them into iTunes
I find the four videos in the Finder under Movies. I can open with iTunes, but how would I import them into iTunes so I can share and view on my Apple TV, iPads and iPhones?
Or drag and drop the file(s) onto the iTunes window.
Personally I had good experience with the mp4 format, which is the iTunes native format!
Once the files have been added they will show up under the section MOVIES.
From there you can give your videos further Meta Data to keep them organised, i.e. have them showing in the section TV SHOWS all under one TITLE. -

we need them in itunes so we can play them via Apple TV unless there is a way to play them through Apple TV without putting them all in itunes, but i don't think there is.
Try the following user tip:

How do I back up myentire iPhoto library to an an additional hard drive, I have a WD My Book 1TB hooked up to my MacBook Pro via USB 2 port.
Make sure the drive is formatted Mac OS Extended (Journaled)
Most Simple Back Up:
Drag the iPhoto Library from your Pictures Folder to another Disk. This will make a copy on that disk.
Slightly more complex: Use an app that will do incremental back ups. This is a very good way to work. The first time you run the back up the app will make a complete copy of the Library. Thereafter it will update the back up with the changes you have made. That makes subsequent back ups much faster. Many of these apps also have scheduling capabilities: So set it up and it will do the back up automatically.
Example of such apps: Chronosync - but there are many others. Search on MacUpdate or the App Store -
I purchased a Seagate 5T external harddrive which stated it was for both Mac and PC.
I want to partition the drive so I can have a partition for time machine and a partition for drag and drop.
My Mac book pro 17inch model has parallels. I would like a partition for time machine for the mac side and a partition for the PC side as well and a third partition for just saving work files so I don't clog up my laptop. IS this possible? DrMAVyes it is possible using 'disk utility'. format the time machine backup as Mac OS Extended( journaled). The windows partition can use FAT32.

I have a new 8.1 computer and adobe reader was installed on it ... Would prefer to use only Firefox PDF
if can do so, for e-bay and photo taking use
What steps do I take to delete Adobe Reader (if don't need it) and then to install PDF from
firefox?
Would really appreciate any helpFirefox has a built-in PDF viewer. However, I recommend keeping Adobe Reader on your system because there are some advanced PDFs that the built-in viewer does not display very well.
Or... If you meant that you want to use Foxit, that's actually not a Mozilla product. You can get more information here: http://www.foxitsoftware.com/ -
I have a Toshiba external hard drive that I used to back up my Windows 7 HP -- I am not able to get the files off of it (pictures) onto the Mac. I am NOT a very technical person. IS there a simple easy way to explain and do this -- OR a simple way to just say it is not possible?
If you connect the external hard drive to your Mac does it show up in the Finder? If so, do the files you are trying to transfer show up? What happens when you try to move them over?
What kind of Mac are you using and what operating system does it have running on it?
Let us know, we'll keep helping you.
Best of luck. -
I have 3 older ext. hard drives that I've utilized many times. Today while searching for old files, one of the three is no longer recognized by my PowerMac. The drive is not listed in Disk Utility. Any suggestions?
Is the computer in you equipment line:
Dual Core Intel Xenon
(which is not a PowerMac but a Mac Pro) the one you are asking about, or do you have an older PowerMac?
If a Mac Pro, their forums are here:
Mac Pro
and, as Mac Pros have a totally different architecture from the pre-2005 Macs this forum covers, you may not have the same issues that can affect the older models. If someone didn't notice your equipment line, you could get advice that doesn't apply.
If you really have a pre-2005 PowerMac, read on.
If the stubborn external is USB and does not have its own power brick (i.e., it gets power only from the computer's UBS ports--"bus powered"), it may not be getting enough power. As electric motors age, they can demand more power than when new, and the power available on any USB port is limited.
The typical workabouts to making a computer recognize an aging, bus-powered USB drive are:
Get a powered USB hub (has its own power brick
Get a "Y" USB cable: 1 Meter USB 2.0 A to 5 Pin Mini B Cable - Auxiliary USB "Y" Power Design for external hard drives.
The second gets power from two USB ports on the computer and often that's enough.
Remember that the USB ports on your keyboard seldom provide enough power even for a thumb drive, so be sure to use the USB ports on the back of the computer. -
I have a macbook pro. I had iphoto on it prior to my hard drive crashing. Hard drive was replaced but iphoto is no longer on. How do I get it back without paying for it?

I have to extract all files from a hard drive of a macbook pro that is no longer working. All I have to access the hard drive is a PC, is this possible, and if so how?
You could try Paragon HFS+ for Windows. That would allow you to read and write files from a Mac-formatted drive.

Move settings from one computer to another
I am migrating to a new computer and want to take some of the custom settings I have made with me. I have already moved the compressor settings. That was easy - I just copied the 'Settings' folder from the library on the old computer to the new one.
