HT1349 Coping iTunes library from a laptop XP to a laptop using Windows 8. I have loaded iTunes on the new computer. I have exported the library to a flash drive. I cannot find how to import the library.

I have tried three different ways suggested on the net to copy my library from my older computer which uses XP to my new laptop which uses Windows 8. I have dowloaded iTunes to the new computer. I have aslo exported the library to a flash drive (I think). When I go into the iTunes on the new computer, I cannot find whwere to import from the flash drive. P.S. I also have an iPod with the library on it. Would appreciate help.

You aren't going to be able to delete it without the correct password. If it's your ID, you can reset the password as explained here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5625. If it isn't your ID, you will have to get the password for the person who owns the ID. There's no way around this and no one else can help.

You have to be aware that this will only change labels if you edit before adding quiz slides: Preferences, Quiz, Default Labels. You will have to edit the labels, choosing another language will not change them automatically.

Assuming you mean the personal name associated with the account, as opposed to the login (which you can change if it's not an @icloud.com. @me.com or @mac.com address) you can change this at http://appleid.appla.com . Click on 'Manage your account' and then on 'Edit' next to 'Your name' and the name currently associated with the ID.

You can copy the entire iTunes folder over from one computer to another using your network. You ought to invest in an external drive for backup. Hard drives can and do fail, often without any prior warning. You can redownload your qualifying past purchases from the iTunes store on demand, with the proviso that the content is still in the store. Content owners are free to withdraw any items without notice at any time. Disney did so recently for example.

When using Internet Explorer and Adobe Reader xi, I cannot find how to keep the Page thumbnails from hiding. We want them open. Please help!

In Internet Explorer, when opening a PDF using the IE addon Adobe Reader XI, the Page Thumbnail toolbar is shrunk to the left (hidden). Our users access the thumbnails constantly and we need this to remain open by default but I cannot find anywhere that this option is set. I would expect there to be a pin icon to click to keep it open. In the stand alone product Adobe Reader, we found that you can click "Restore last view settings when reopening documents." in Documents prefs but this doesn't work for new documents (only previously opened docs) AND doesn't work in Internet Explorer at all.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I hope this is something that will be corrected in the next vision of either theoperrating system, or in the gallery. three seconds is way too short for showing pictures to friend while telling abut them. Even apple's screen savers ware slower between the transitions.
I'll do a search ontne store for an app. Do you think I should search for a different photo display, or for something that allows one to change settings on the current gallery app?

True, PSB is the only format will take it to those limits, iirc. I didn't think he was anywhere near it. I wonder how portable it is? Do programs outside of Photoshop read it? I'm thinking if you needed it printed professionally.
What amount of ram should you have for a 10 GB psb? What is the recommended scratch space?

One thing about PSB is Mac/PC thumbnails. Since Apple is not rendering them yet. Quicklook does that. Ardfrey codec for Windows when you need it at the desktop level.

So I've bought a new pc and have HomeShared all my music/apps from the old to the new iTunes. When I plug my phone into the new computer, what will happen? I just want to be sure my contacts/calenders will be the same. What about the music/apps?

I have no problem resorting the apps and losing the playlists from the other iTunes. I just want to be sure nothing will be lost.

I would suggest backing up your iphone before doing anything. You can do that by right-clicking on the name of your iphone from the source list on the left side of itunes.

Installed iTunes 11.4.0 and cannot find how to view files created by apps or screen displays for moving icons. Where did it go?

Also can't view screens and icon positons to manipulate them in iTunes. Any one no how to find them, or if they have been purposely removed from 11.4.0?

Upgrade to the latest version 1.4.1. It's a free upgrade. It however will not alleviate your frustrations.
You can move a directory in Lr by clicking and dragging to a new location within the Folders panel. To create a new folder on a new drive ensure that no folders are selected (hint: click All Photographs in the Catalog panel) then click the + icon in the Folders panel. You will be presented with a dialog to choose or create a new folder.
To move selected photos to a new directory first select the images then right click the destination folder. You will be presented with several options including moving to the destination folder or creating a new folder under the destination folder.

How do I transfer old photos to the newer computer?

I am trying to transfer my older pictures from my older computer that isn't getting much use these days to the newer one that I use more.
My older computer is a Acer IBM laptop, I used that computer like ages ago, but I'm hardly using it much now, but I wanted to back up some of my pictures I had on there to the newer computer which is a apple MacBook Pro laptop, I am just wondering what would be the best way to transfer the pictures and videos over to the newer computer, I want to get some of my older pictures put into iPhoto on the newer computer, and have them backed up. Should I just try to back everything up on CD discs or how should I do this, if anyone got any suggestions for me, please let me know, this is a project I wanted to do and get it over with in a short amount of time, so I need to figure out how to do this, what should I do, thanks.

You can do things easily over networks.
Plug the Acer laptop into your network.. (using ethernet is much better to move large files). Plug the MBP also into the network by ethernet.. and even turn off its wireless.. the less wireless is involved the better for everyone.
Share the folder (directory) with the photos to the network in the Acer.. or if they are scattered all over the place.. move the files to the public access directory on the Acer.
From Finder in the Mac locate the Acer share.. and type in whatever user name and password is required.. this is where life can be a bit exciting.. using identically named users with identical passwords on both machines can make this easier.. otherwise just look up networking pc and mac.. it is not hard.
Then you can copy the files directly from PC to Mac.
Burning to CD is long process.. and does your MBP have a CD player?? None of the new ones do.
Otherwise use a USB hard drive formatted FAT32 which is the only common file format.. and hence will give issues if the larger movie files are over 4GB limit.. copy the files to the disk in windows then plug the disk into the Mac and copy them off again.

The show duplicates/show exact duplicates features have been left out of iTunes 11. Rumor suggests they will be restored in the next build. In the meantime I have written two Windows scripts to make playlists of Duplicates and Exact Duplicates, either from a selection of tracks or the entire library.
If you want to manually remove duplicate tracks use shift-delete to remove selected tracks from the library as well as the playlist. Keep one of each repeated group of files and don't send to the recycle bin unless you are sure that there are multiple files on the disc as opposed to multiple entries to the same file.
There is also my DeDuper script if you don't want to do it by hand. This can preserve ratings, play counts, playlist membership, etc. which are lost in a manual clean up. Please take note of the warning to backup your library before deduping. See this thread for background on deduping and the script.

First of all make sure that you've definitely backed up the movies to your external hard disc.
In iMovie click on any event you don't want, go to the file menu and select 'move event to trash'. Then do the same for any unwanted projects - 'move project to trash'. Quit out of iMovie and empty the trash.
