HT1349 help with word doc??

I am looking for a document I was working on last night. I can't find it in my saved files. Is there a "recent documents" feature on Mac like there is on PC?

Look under Recent Items in the Apple menu, or if the document's open, command-click its name in the window's title bar.

The App "pages" not compatible with Word Docs?

I have purchase the App Pages and seemed to be having lots of problems. I cannot open files without it being Read Only. My instructor sends me assignements through his PC and I cannot open it to copy it. I am transcribing his email to a Pages Doc. When I am saving it...it saves under a pages doc that no one can open. I have tried saving it with the .doc or .docx at the end and get the same problem. Is this the wrong program to use or am I missing something...

Help with wording

Hi,
In my app I have a recommended JRE version, and I check the clients JRE version against what is recommended. I want to display a message sorta like this:
"if your JRE version is older than the recommended version, you should upgrade. If your JRE version is newer than the recommended version, you should probably be ok"....
what i want help with here is how to word that last part, "...you should probably be ok." ....that just doesn't sound good.
any suggestions?

It is recommended that you use JRE Version 1.5.0 or above to run this program. If your system does not meet this requirement, you can download the latest JRE from http://java.sun.com.

Problems with Word Doc line spacing

I have multiple word docs to bring in and each time, all though the word doc is formatted like I need (italic headers, diff font sizes etc…) Indesign brings it in double spaced although it is not that way in the word doc. At this point I am having to go to the end of each line, delete to bring the next line to the end of that one, then shift+enter to drop it down 1 line. I have 11 documents that are 5-10 pages each…. Is there a way to avoid having to do all of that??? I have tried tweaking the leading via the justification panel as I saw on another site, but it has no effect. Brought in a different document, formatted exactly the same as above. This time it kept the space right, but when I narrowed the text box to fit where I needed it, instead of lines just dropping down as they should, they are actually laying on top of each other. I am at a complete loss.... ANY help would be greatly appreciated!

Don't use Word styles in InDesign. Set up InDesign styles which will replace word styles when text is imported into InDesign. Word styles have different parameters as InDesign styles have. You can't compare them, every imported Word style will make a mess in InDesign. You can set up once the style in InDesign and create a template upon file import how Word Styles are translated into the InDesign styles.

Well, I saw in your other thread, that these are things served up by your own servlet. You didn't mention that here, you simply said you had a link, and when clicked it didn't show up right. Well, that's browser and not Java. The fact that you are serving them, is Java.
Now, coming to that point. I get the feeling that the things you are serving up, are not being generated by you, but rather, already exist. If so, why not simply point the browser directly to the document and let the browser decide how it will it open it?
If you must "filter" it through your servlet, then follow the advice given both in your other thread, and above. Set the proper MIME type and use the "proper" extension on the name in the headers, then simply feed the document, as is, through the outputstream.

HT1349 help with iTunes update

iTunes failing to install its latest update, because C++ runtime thing isn't working with it. I can't get any help from Apple online - just getting a runaround. Does anyone know what the problem is and how to fix it? I'm running Windows XP.

I am using Acrobat Professional 8.1.2 and I would like to add a blank page to an open document. Is there anything wrong with the following Javascript code:

The newPage document method needs to be in a trusted function. Also, the doc object as you've currently coded it will be undefined. Your cExec code should be:
cExec: "BlankPage(this);"
and the function could look something like:
var BlankPage = app.trustedFunction(function (doc) {
    app.beginPriv();
    doc.newPage();
    app.endPriv();
assuming this code is placed in a folder-level JavaScript file. This isn't necessarily the best way to code this, so I'd suggest reading up on trusted functions and trust propagator functions in the Acrobat JavaScript reference for more information.

NEED HELP WITH WORD & CHAR COUNT USING HASHTABLE

I have to use a hashtable to be able to count all the words and characters (#'s, punctuations, etc) from a file
I have been able to get it to correctly count the words in the file but none of the characters and it also does not display the words alphabetically and just displays it in an odd way

That's because hash tables are not ordered; to maintain order of insertion you could use LinkedHashMap and to maintain alphabetical order TreeMap.

Need help with numbers doc

I was working with numbers on the iPad where it closed unexpected. Now it will not open the doc, saying it can't open at this and it won't send to email or iworks. Is there any way I can get my doc back.

only if you have it backed up to the itunes folder. I have gotten into the habit of "sending to iTunes" for backups. This moves a copy to another folder that iTunes sees. And if I lose my original working cpoy, I can "import from itunes" and at least have on ly lost limited. Funny that since I started doing that, I havent had a crash that corrupted a doc yet.

Since Word is not an Apple product. You'll get better response if you use a forum dedicated to Microsoft's Mac products such as <http://groups-beta.google.com/group/microsoft.public.mac.office> rather than an Apple forum that focuses on Mac/Windows compatibility.

Can anyone help with Interactive docs in ID CS5?

I am creatiing an ineractive document in ID CS5 and it is going well. However, suddenly my Object States panel has stopped functioning - I select an object and the panel is blank, the menu items are greyed out and there are no icons at the bottom of the panel. It will not display anything at all, can anyone help please?
