How do i re-register a pre-owned ipad in my name? An ipad that is registered in another person's name, but its sold to me. How do i register it in my name.
NOTE: Am getting this message in my support profile "According to our records, this serial number is registered to another Apple ID. If you have more than one Apple ID, log in to My Support Profile with that Apple ID to see your other registered products. Not sure if you have another Apple ID?"
So, what should i do ?

Just connect it to your iTunes library and sync it as if it were brand new out of the box. This will assocate the iPod with your iTunes library.

My son gave me an old ipod video 30GB which I fixed, and as I have an Apple ID and other products I tried to register it. It is telling me that the date of purchase does not match the serial. It's so long ago, I am only guessing the date from the ipod wiki entry. Does it have to be the exact date of purchase? If my son registered it does it have go be deregistered first?
Actually is there any benefit in registering it anyway?

Since that iPod is at least 6 years old at this point, I can't think of any benefit.

Registering a pre-owned iOS device.

I purchased a pre-owned iPad from a reputable source. I went to https://supportprofile.apple.com/ to register the device, only to find that the serial number is still associated with the previous owner's Apple-ID. I also found two previous iOS devices that I no longer have, and unregistered them.
This situation does not affect the functionality of the iPad, and Find My iPhone, the App Store, etc. all work just fine.
Is there any way to address this issue?

same situation for me. but the previous owner for my iphone has unregistered the iphone from his apple ID email address. and still cannot register the iphone. so far, have waited a day and still cannot register it. planning on eventually going to the Apple Store to ask them about this.
oh. have an ipad that was registered under my dad's apple ID email address although he bought for me. got that unregistered and off his apple ID email address. then was able to register it under my apple ID email address. this was within a matter of minutes.
kind of frustrating that can change the registration for one device but not for the other.

You'll need to contact Apple directly with proof of ownership of the device for the company, and have them remove it.
Otherwise it cannot be done directly.

How to install OS on pre-owned eMac with no OS installed?

I am going to get my Dad a used eMac. He really needs to have access to Classic because he's stuck in the OS 8.6 era at present. I see people selling refurbished eMacs on eBay, which are wiped clean. These sellers appear to be in the business of obtaining and reselling used computers and their feedback records are good.
I have done many system restores and upgrades on my own computer, so I am familiar with that process. But with a "blank slate" is that process very different? If I get a set of Install DVDs for the eMac, is it a question of sliding in the dvd, pushing the power button, and having a screen of instructions appear? Or is there more to it that than? I feel incredibly dumb asking this question!

I think I know what you are saying.
It should be as easy as putting the cd/dvd into the drive and holding the 'c' key down while starting up. You should be able to start up the computer using the cd/dvd instead of the hard drive. go throught the installation process and os x should work. the lowest os you can install on an emac is os x, you can use classic for all of your old apps.

How can I register my daughter's Macbook under my name?

We have three machines, a 21 inch IMAC, a 27 inch IMAC and a Macbook Pro. The two IMACS are registered under my Apple ID, along with two ipods. The Macbook Pro is not showing up. We can't remember if we registered at setup.
1. How can you tell if a machine is registered by looking at the OS?
2. If it was registered under HER name, how can I change it?
The reason I ask is because I want to upgrade all three machines to Lion, and I obviously only want to pay once (for the USB - download option too slow) on an understanding the USB upgrade is good for three licences provided they are all under the same name?

You can't; there is nothing recorded on your system that has anything to do with product registration.

You can't, and you don't need to. The only time that you would need to change registration information is if you have an active AppleCare warranty, or you purchased a previously owned product from an authorized reseller. Otherwise, Apple doesn't care.
If you want to see if and how any of your Macs are registered, you can go to http://register.apple.com and enter the information asked for, and that will show you what products you have registered under your AppleID, and when.
As long as all those Macs are in your home, and your daughter lives there (or you bought it for her), Apple really doesn't care whose name it's registered under; they're all in your immediate family at your home.

If you can't access the App Store from the Apple menu, Dock, or Applications folder installing the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo will reinstall the App Store for you.
It's ok to do this even you are already running v10.6.8.

I have seen other users talk about this and make the same claim. Unfortunately, even if you didn't set a passcode, and the iPad is insisting that you did, unless you can successfully guess what the passcode is, you still have to follow these instructions and use one of the methods in here in order to restore your iPad which will then unlock it.

I'm looking at getting a blackberry curve 8530 and i was wondering, how good are the certified pre-owned ones? In general, are certified pre-owned phones just as good as brand new ones? are certified pre-owned blackberries prone to more defects since they have been used by someone else? i would like to hear anyones personal experience with a certified pre-owned blackberry, thank you.

Welcome to the Verizon forums. The Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) phones are checked and double checked to be in superb working order. CPO devices are, for lack of better description, just like new phones. It will come with the same warranty as a new phone from Verizon. Myself, I own a CPO Blackberry Bold 9650. I could not tell it was used when I looked at mine after I received it from Verizon. If there had been a problem with the phone, it was fixed by RIM and I could not tell what had been wrong with it. Usually, CPO devices are phones that may have been on display or ones that someone bought but later returned shortly after the purchase. How can I exchange a defective Verizon certified pre-owned phone?

In fairness to my fellow consumers, I'm compelled to share my experience so they can determine for themselves whether a certified pre-owned phone from Verizon is a good purchase. In my experience so far, it is not. I'm hoping that my situation can be resolved amicably, but I'm losing hope.
I purchased my certified pre-owned phone directly from VerizonWireless in July. In August, I determined the phone was defective. I called Verizon's technical support, and they confirmed the phone was defective, and that it would be an easy thing to fix. I could simply go to a Verizon store directly, and they would repair or replace the phone.
But this was not the case. The Verizon Wireless stores are actually franchises. My local stores, and a VerizonWireless customer service representative got in touch with all of them, will not exchange a device unless the parent company sends them a new phone first, because otherwise they'd have to absorb the cost. The customer service line refused to send a new phone, arguing it was the local franchisee who should pay to replace the phone.
In short, after six hours of phone calls, Naomi from Customer Care promised to give me a full refund and a free months service because I had been treated so poorly, and that this refund would take three to five business days to effectuate. Six business days later, I still had no refund. I called again, and over another four hours of calls, I learned that Naomi never submitted the paperwork in the first place, and that I was no further than I was before.
In short, Verizon promised to replace any defective pre-owned phones that they sold within 90 days of purchase. I purchased my phone 30 days ago and it is defective, but Verizon has in effect refused to honor the warranty. Their internal processes are so confused that, although they agree there is a warranty, they cannot agree on who internally is obligated to honor it.
I really hope this situation can be resolved amicably. I would love to discuss this further with a Verizon Wireless supervisor or customer care manager privately if possible. I want this be resolved quickly and easily.
I will report back later to let everyone know how my case has been resolved.

I sincerely hope that is true. As I've said before, it seems like it should be a very simple transaction--there's no external damage or water damage whatsover. The problem is that the GPS simply doesn't work, and it doesn't lock on to cell towers properly. I couldn't cause that kind of malfunction if I tried, and tech support has already identified those problems to be a manufacturing defects. The only question is what will Verizon do about it.
I have a 90 day warranty. It's printed on the box, and is stipulated on Verizon's website. But as I mentioned before there seems to be internal confusion as to what that process looks like exactly for a certified pre-owned phone. So far, after 12+ hours of phone calls, no individual team or department within Verizon claims it has the authority to effect a return for these phones.
I would love nothing more to report success. But so far, I've been working with Verizon support for two weeks, and am no further than when I started. I messaged Trevor immediately, but haven't heard back from him yet (but that may be because of labor day weekend.)
Please, please, please - just tell me what I have to do or what I have to show in order to get Verizon to replace the defective phone it sold me. I'm at a loss as to what I should do next.

You need to connect the phone to iTunes and then try activating it from there and restoring it as new.
If you have further problems and especially as the iPhone you have bought is second hand, it could be that it is not unlocked. Are you sure that it is? If not, then you'll need to speak to the person that you purchased it from.
