Sounds like the Activation Lock is still set to the previous owner. If you are unable to get that Apple ID and password that iPhone is totally useless to you.
Take it back to the shop and demand your money back because they sold it to under false pretenses.

iCloud email supports 'plus' addressing. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Email_address#Address_tags
So your friend could just add '+research' to the username part of your email address, and you setup a rule at icloud.com to put all emails sent to that address into a particular folder.
For example:

There's no way to do it without rules on the server though.

I think those contacts still in iphone database. So you can back up you iphone with itunes to get iphone database off your iphone. Then access the SQLite batabse.

Go to Mail Preferences>Accounts, click the '+' button below the list of accounts and insert the settings, username and password as instructed. Some account types can be set up automatically as soon as Mail knows the emails address (because the server settings are built in), in other cases you will have to get them from your ISP.

Q # 1. I can't get into My Account - to get into support & any questions! Somehow all my data is messed up, & I've had to change passwords 3 times today every time I'm "rejected" by my account. I seem to have 3 accounts now, each with a different name Password, & Security Questions! & I've been rejected due to: "Incorrect ID name", "Incorrect Password" & because whatever - doesn't" recognize my birth date" / or "my Security question answers" that I chose - all of which I know are correct. 1) Can you Unzip iPhotos, uploaded from a USB or External Drive (after my SL crashed)? The dpi for these old ones is about 250 x 360 (88 KB) compared to 2448 x 3264 (2.6 MB) for recent ones.
- Do you need a program to do this? Some say there's a "free" program, any good? Can unzip be done to many or 1 at a time? Or is there something I haven't found in iPhoto '11, 9.2.1 (Lion)?

If you updated iPhone to iOS7, it now checks for real Apple Lightning Cable. Your cable may not be Apple, or someone swapped another cable with yours. Make sure the cable end is clean, take a clean dry toothbrush and carefully clean charging port on the iPhone.

Adding another account would not affect one that you already had. Either the password is wrong, or the server is coincidentally rejecting your credentials for some reason, or you did something different.
