HT1349 I cannot get my email account to recognize the password I use for my hotmail account. I have tried everything i can think of! HELP!
Help! I cannot get my ipod touch to recognize my password for my hotmail account! I have deleted and re-entered and nothing seems to work. Any ideas?
A lot of people have been unable to access Yahoo e-mail on their iPhones or iPads. My wife’s iPad was not downloading Yahoo mail, although her iPhone was. Both used IOS 8.2. We tried deleting the account several times and troubleshooting all of the other settings. The problem appears to have been that allowing the IOS to automatically create the account on the iPad resulted in the wrong settings for the incoming server. The following procedure, pieced together from two websites, fixed the problem for us. So far, so good.

On the iPhone, tap Settings.
Tap Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
Tap your Yahoo account, then delete it.
Tap Add Account.
Tap Other.
Tap Add Mail Account.
Complete the Name, Address (email address), Password and Description fields.
Click Next.
Ensure IMAP is selected.
Enter the following incoming mail server information:
Incoming Mail (IMAP) Server - Requires SSL
Server: imap.mail.yahoo.com
Port: 993
Requires SSL: Yes
Hostname is mail.yahoo.com.
Username is your full email address
Password is the same password used to access webmail.
Enter the following outgoing mail server information:
Outgoing Mail (SMTP) Server - Requires SSL
Server: smtp.mail.yahoo.com
Port: 465 or 587
Requires SSL: Yes
Requires authentication: Yes
Username is your full email address
Password is the same password used to access webmail. It may have been entered for you.
Tap Next.
The iPhone will establish an SSL connection to your IMAP and SMTP servers.

Just got a new iphone 4 and when i got it it was always hard to get on the wifi but the other day the option to even get wifi went grey and now it wont let me have the option to get on the internet. i have tried eveything i could to get it to work again but it just wont work. hopefully someone can help me out so i can get my internet back on my phone again because i use it alot .

Home sharing is on...on both my computer and iphone but my phone wont show up on itunes unless I plug it in....I am trying to move a playlist from my itouch to my iphone and it would not let me so I thought I could just enable home sharing and drag it to my iphone that way but now my iphone wont even show up in home sharing. The little house icon wont even show up. I have tried restarting and am very frustrated, help!
If you have iTunes 11 turn on the Sidebar. Go to iTunes>View and click on Show Sidebar. You can also do a Crtl+S to show the sidebar. The sidebar is where Devices appears. and Control+B to show the Menu bar

My internet was down for over 24hrs after a storm. During that time, my IPad completely shut down and I can't get it going again. I studied the manual but couldn't find a similar topic. I reset it and now it is totally goofed up.
Does anyone have any ideas or should I just take it to an Apple store and pay?? Any solutions you may have, PLEASE use simple words as I am not a pro, by any means....probably why I'm in this situation.

Additional things to try.
Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.

Another thing to try - Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.

However, after your remove the Apple software components also remove the iCloud Control Panel via Windows Programs and Features app in the Window Control Panel. Then reinstall all the Apple software components
- New cable and different USB port
- Run this and see if the results help with determine the cause

After working perfectly for two years my iTouch has suddenly stopped connecting to my Hub although my desktop computer still connects. I have tried everything I can think of, including suggestions off Google/You Tube but nothing makes any difference. Any ideas. Surely it is not fit for the scrap heap after two years, but is clearly no use as it is.
Does the iOS device connect to other networks? If yes that tend to indicate a problem with your network.
Does the iOS device see the network?
Any error messages?
Do other devices now connect?
Did the iOS device connect before?
Try the following to rule out a software problem:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Power off and then back on your router
.- Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
- iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
- Wi-Fi: Unable to connect to an 802.11n Wi-Fi network
- iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points

- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem and it does not connect to any networks make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

Assuming that in this day and age you want security.
Setting up a new email account on mail, the password is entered for connecting to the in & outgoing servers before SSL is set. Before you can set SSL, mail connects to the servers so email password is transmitted unencrypted?
This seems a very obvious quirk/bug and something that I have always felt uncomfortable about.
Anyone else think this is not a good thing?Actually it look like all apple devices have the same mail setup procedure, so are your email passwords all being sent over the network in plain text before you get the chance to set the SSL option?

I have a ipod that I cannot get find my iphone to recognize it? What am I doing wrong? I have it turned on in settings.
Make sure you are signed into the iCloud ID you are using on the iPod when you attempt to locate it, and that it has a good wifi connection. If these are correct and you are and it still says it's offline, turn Find My iPod off on it, then after a minute or so turn it back on. Then see if you can locate it.

Once I have downloaded email on my iPad the same is not downloaded on my laptop. Have tried all settings including choosing the setting DELETE FROM SERVER:NEVER and REMOVE FROM SERVER:NEVER
Hey rbrylawski, just wanted to let you know that my ipad email problems have been solved. Called Apple Sup in OZ, I'm in NZ. Daniel Barber was the support tech from heaven!! I was about to return the ipad but solving this issue reset my faith in phone support.....perhaps until I call a differnet companys phone support eh? Anyhow, for reference the fix is below. My accounts are all POP not IMAP, and the primary smtp server setting had defaulted to have SSL switched on and the port was set to 5XX (something, cant remember). Anyhow, SSL was switched off and the port was swithced to 25. VOILÀ!! Settings/Mail, contacts, calendars/My POP mail account/smtp/primary server/ >>> server on, no username and password, use SSL off, no authentication, Server Port 25 Thanks for having a crack at it. I have an iPad mini and an iPad 2. I can print email to my HP 6510 from the mini, but NOT from the iPad 2. Both are on the same wi-fi network. I have tried everything I can do including unplugging everything, restarting, etc. Can anyone help?
