HT1349 I have a large Windows iTunes library (18k+ songs, 650+ movies, 2.4K TV shows) and since upgrading to iTunes 11 files are disappearing from my library. Some music files re-appear in the cloud which means I have to re-download and re-convert to MP3.
iTunes 11 is rapidly becoming a disaster for me. I have a dedicated Windows 7 machine running iTunes to service 3 Apple TV's, 2iPhones, 2iPods, and an iPad. Itunes 11 is very sluggish with my large library and has now started 'losing' files to the cloud. This means that music I purchased in 2005 is being removed from my library and subsequently seems to become available as a ne cloud download. This may well be because I convert all ACC files to MP3 and delete the ACC (my ears are too old to care about the reduction in quality). Either way, it's detrsoying my playlists and means I have to re-download files.
Does anyone know how to stop this? I have no interest in the cloud (my library is too big and contains hundreds of ripped CD's and Vinyl records that can't be matched).

Because back in the early days very few devices supported AAC so converting to MP3 allowed me to use iTunes and other devices (like a $1000 dollar MP3 player with a 3.5" hard disk drive that pre-dated iPods ) as well as my gen 1 and 2 iPods. I can't hear the difference (I'm old...) so the files being smaller is still an advantage (even though I have 64Gb iPods and iPhones these days. Anyway, the major issue is iTunes deleting the MP3's and messing up my playlists because the file it downloads just goes in the library - not the original playlists. The secondary issue is how do I know it's truly replacing all the files it deletes. It's just scary and I don't like it.
BTW, I'm not anti-cloud and in fact use iCloud extensively with my iPhones/Apple TV's for photo sharing/backups but iCloud is useless for media sharing. I have just over 2tb of media data shared on my iTunes server (and remotely accessible on my iPhone/iPad using WebDav to my home server).
...and none of my media is pirated. I have crates of vinyl, CD's,DVD's, and Blu-Rays along with thousands of iTunes store receipts!

Are there any other options out there?Nope. You need an .ipsw file to restore your phone & since your friend didn't have iTunes, obviously there is no current .ipsw file to use. You can go to an Apple store, use your own computer, find another computer, but you can't restore without a current signed .ipsw file.

I want to reset (clean out) my old 4S. I have just bought a 6+ and have the 4S as a stand alone unit (No connection to network). I can not get the system to do the erase all command, it wants to access the Cloud which is impossible. Is there anyway to 'Erase All Content and Settings".

Some apps did not added to my Purchased Apps. Most of this are free apps like Facebook, Flipboard, Popular Science, Wired, Imdb etc...
So when this apps get an update in the store, symbol appears next to the Application tab on iTunes, mark that there is an available update. But when I click on check for updates it says there is no available updates for my account.
At this point I start deleting apps from my library until the symbol mark disappear. Then I can know which app makes the problem and purchase it again. But still it doesn't added to my Purchased Apps, and it doesn't get a "Downloaded" mark on the store next to it or appear in the cloud.
It's really annoying. I want to get those apps on my cloud.
I would appreciate your helpPlease, any one can help?

The last upgrade, I guess, installed the cloud, which I don't use, an album I hate [U2] and most of all got rid of 2/3 of my music and all my audiobooks! how can I get rid of this junk and get my old version and all my stuff back?

iOS 5 and later
Tap Settings, then tap the iCloud icon.
Tap Storage & Backup.
Tap Manage Storage.
Tap your iOS device in the Backups area.
Tap Delete Backup.
You will be asked to confirm this change. Deleting this backup will also turn off Backup of your iOS device. Choose Turn Off & Delete if you want to turn off Backup and remove all backups for this iOS device from iCloud.
OS X
From the Apple () menu, choose System Preferences, then Click iCloud.
Click the Manage button to view stored data.
Select Backup from the items listed.

The videos I purchased on iTunes are taking up all the storage on my IPad. Is there a way to remove them from my iPad to free up some storage, but store them in the cloud to access in the future?
Thx - the videos are on my Ipad - that is the problem - they are taking up all the storage and there is no room for anything else. Is there any place I can store them so that I can access them from time to time, but not have they use up all the space on the IPad? Sounds like the cloud is out...

Hi i have an I pod and i had used it as hard disk also. Now when ever i connect it with my Laptop it shows restore to factory setting....i wanted to knwo is there any way i can save the data which i had already stored in the I pod. I dont want to loose that data???

I am nearly out of iCloud storage but I have over 3 gb on my iPad. I just bought a game that requires 1.5 gb but will not download to my iPad because it says that there's not enough storage in the cloud. Why can't I just download the game to my iPad?
That file could be set as a Launch Agent or Daemon in your ~/Library or /Library, You could try to look for it or Safeboot your computer and then empty the trash. I am trying to purchase basic lightroom software (desktop stand alone), but am confsed by the cloud, which I do not really want. My aim is developing RAW from my camera.
The standalone version doesn't use Creative Cloud features, so if you don't want the cloud just get the standalone version.
Note that if you want to sync your Lightroom desktop images to Lightroom on an iPad or iPhone (or the Android versions coming later), then a Creative Cloud subscription would be required.
