I would like to have my apps under my own itunes account as most of them where with a joint account as i have an app where it comes up under my own account but when you want to purchase something from that app it wont allow, as it was 1st bought on the joint account and i dont want to loose all the information, and i also have a few other apps that has alot of info that is stored on them which i dont want to loose how do i rectify this?

All Apps Downloaded are Tied to the Apple ID that First Purchased them... You cannot Merge Apple IDs...

Accessing the itunes store and joining this forum are different accounts than an icloud account, so it's not necessarily true that your ID for icloud is the same as for itunes.

You can update it on your computer, but then when he syncs it to his own it will say this iphone is already synced with another itunes account bla bla and will ask you if you want to sync it with this account. It will wipe anything you put on it using your own itunes account. BUT it wont wipe off the new iOS5

It's probably asking you to verify the security code found on the back of your credit card.

Well my friend had sold me his iPhone. And I am wondering how to change his Apple ID from the app store to mine!

The best thing to do is Settings>General>Resets>Erase All Content and Settings.
That will wipe the phone entirely and take it back to the same state it would have been in had you bought it new and just taken it out of the box.
The previous owner does not have the legal right to pass on any downloaded apps or music to you anyway, and I doubt you would want their contacts, calendars, etc.

One computer iTunes can support multiple Apple IDs. One iPod can also support multiple IDs. Don't do an "erase and sync." Simply add your Apple ID to the computer's iTunes and to the iPod. The only nuisance is app updating, especially if you do the updates from the computer, rather than from the iPod.

Im not sure wether I got you right or not. But my advice/s would be as follows:
These steps help you get rid of old apps you downloaded years ago and you do not use anymore.(Also frees space on your mac after emptying the trash)
1) go to iTunes and delete all applications in it. Make sure to move them to trash! Do not empty your trash yet. Its your backup if step 3 doesnt appear.
2) connect both your devices(one after each other) and make a backup. !!!Dont press the Sync button, press the Back Up Now Button
3) Then it asks you if you want to backup applications as well. Confirm. (This is how apps get transferred manually)
4) Then Sync your devices... The first time it might be, that there are some additional apps loaded to your devices you dont want to.. delete them on your Device (not iTunes) and after that you should be good every time you sync again.
5) now you can empty your trash on your mac.
Further,
- You should regularly connect your devices with iTunes to make sure they are backed up. (Even if you have activated iCloud backup, the iTunes backup is more proper i.e.. Apps)
- If you hate scrolling through a list of apps in iTunes, you can re/install apps directly on iOS not via iTunes. I absolutely never go to the "Applications" section in iTunes. I install and delete apps directly on iOS.

Is it the same user/iTunes account or...?
Syncing to a new computer should give you the opportunity to replace the exisiting contents with the new.

If the picture was in your photo stream you can sign into the iCloud account in Settings>iCloud and turn on photo stream to see/copy it. If it was only in the iCloud backup you can't restore just the picture; you have to restore the entire backup. Restoring a backup is all or nothing.

There is no other way you can do now. Actually, you don't need to create a new Apple ID account, you can change the Apple ID from old email account to other email accout easily by all the steps below.
1, Open iTunes > iTunes Store > log in old Apple ID > Click on your apple ID on the right hand side on top > choose account > Apple ID > Edit
As long as you only change your Apple ID, then all the old apps are still under your new email account as well as you can keep downloading new apps.
