HT1349 In Miami 2 wks ago I purchased iMac 21.5 desktop. Several employees confirmed official apple reseller in Ecuador, Now Im here & there is none. ??so my concerns about purchasing a desktop having tech service-repair should not concern me.

After purchasing extended warranty as well, I now find myself with a very non portable computer in a country in South America that has no backup tech support for my new unit.  I would not have purchased this model had I  not venn told by serveral salesmen and one teacher that there was an official Apple Reseller in Ecuador so I had back up for technical or repair issues.
Now that I am already in Ecuador, returning or exchanging the unit is impossibe, and I have no technical back up. I am furious, and need to know who at Apple will take responsibility for the misleading info given to me be several Apple experts at the company Apple Store ibn Miami

    These are two possible approaches that will normally work to move an existing library to a new computer.
    Method 1
    Backup the library with this User Tip.
    Deauthorize the old computer if you no longer want to access protected content on it.
    Restore the backup to your new computer using the same tool used to back it up.
    Keep your backup up-to-date in future.
    Method 2
    Connect the two computers to the same network. Share your <User's Music> folder from the old computer and copy the entire iTunes library folder into the <User's Music> folder on the new one. Again, deauthorize the old computer if no longer required.
    Both methods should give the new computer a working clone of the library that was on the old one. As far as iTunes is concerned this is still the "home" library for your devices so you shouldn't have any issues with iTunes wanting to erase and reload.
    I'd recommend method 1 since it establishes an ongoing backup for your library.
    Note if you have iOS devices and haven't moved your contacts and calendar items across then you should create one dummy entry of each in your new profile and iTunes should  merge the existing data from the device.
    If your media folder has been split out from the main iTunes folder you may need to do some preparatory work to make it easier to move. See make a split library portable.
    Should you be in the unfortunate position where you are no longer able to access your original library or a backup then then see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device for advice on how to set up your devices with a new library with the maximum preservation of data.

  • Service item should not post to stock

    Dear Experts,
    I have the following scenario.
    I have a service material (DIEN). And created a PO with Account assignment M with SO. I have done the GR, accounting entries are posted as:
    + KBS --> CoGS
    - WRX --> GR/IR Clearing
    Account entries are correct. But when I check in MB52, stock is there as a special stock with E/SO number. But in my case, it should not post to stock.
    How to achieve this? Kindly explain please.

    I am using the AAC as "C" now. It is working fine.
    I have an issue here. I will explain my scenrio. It is actually a trading process.
    we trade machines as well as the service (Implementation of the machine).
    1. Create Sales Order with Material and Service and it internally creates PR with 2 item to vendor X as follows.
       M MAT 1 EA
       C SRV 1 EA
    2. When we recive the material MAT, we do the GR, it goes to inventory.
    3. For the implementation of machine in the customer premise, we go with the vendor X and implement the machine.
    4. At this point, we do GR for service and accounting entry created in COGS for the service
       + KBS --> CoGS
       - WRX --> GR/IR Clearing
    5. Vendor X raise the invoce and we pay the vendor
    6. But the problem is, we invoice the customer after a month or two based on our terms with the customer. so until we bill the customer, the service cost is lying as cost in COGS expense account.
    Is there any way to clear it from expense account to some receivable account? And the receivable account should be nullified when we actually bill the customer.
    Kindly let me know, if I am not clear enough.

    Because you stated that you were looking at audiobooks that you could download to the iPod, and talking about apps only being for the iPad and iPhone and none for the iPod. So, even though the source was the iTunes store, you implied that what you were looking for needed to go on the iPod.
    Look, we are not Apple here. We are just fellow users of Apple equipment. We volunteer our time here to try to help people out with issues.
    The reason I needed to know what model of iPod you have was because you were asking about apps. However, unless you have an iPod Touch, there aren't any apps you can purchase from iTunes for it. And that was what I was trying to establish. Now that we have eliminated the option of apps from the discussion, we can focus on Audiobooks.
    As far as Audiobooks go, you can sync any audiobook that your purchase in iTunes to your Nano.
    So, as I indicated in the previous post, if you are looking for Audiobooks then go to the iTunes Store, and in the search bar in the top right-hand corner, type in "Learn Spanish Audiobooks". A list of available audiobooks to learn Spanish will display.

  • Password on every purchase? and concern about purchase history screen.

    iTunes 9 is great overall, the store is much better and the iphone app organizer is a god send, but I do have 2 concerns.
    First, whenever I make a purchase, it asks for my password, it used to do this once per session i.e. when I launch the program and access the store, then I was good until I closed the app, but now I must enter it with every purchase, it makes 1-click a 3 step process, how do I turn on the shopping cart?
    secondly, the new history screen that comes up whenever I buy something, that is great info to have access to, but I don't want that displayed randomly upon purchase or "free app upgrade" redemption if I have other people around, what I buy and how much I spend is no one else's darn business! Also, I can not go back from this screen to the search that I did 3 screens earlier, so I have to redo that query to buy the 2nd result that I also wanted.

I scrolled all the way down on that purchase history thing and at the bottom in red tiny letters it said that there is a problem with the card, which there was as I had that card killed this week due to loss, but I had to scroll to get a message that should have been on the top, in big bold lettering, you know, something like "fix your charge card info, dingbat!"

    You're trying to go through a proxy which isn't working. Assuming you don't normally use a proxy to connect to the internet, do this:
    Tools, options, advanced, connection settings, set no proxy.
    Causes for this may include anything which monitors or forwards newtork traffic on your computer (tools like fiddler2 or tor). It may also be that you are on a network which requires a proxy to access the intenet (some corporate and university networks do this).

  • Planning to Buy iPad-3 concerned about Backlight Bleeding issue !

    Hi Guys,
    I am planning to buy the iPad-3, BUt with so many issues of Backlight Bleeding issues popping up. It looks a Rampant issue. Do you guys think I should wait some days before the First Batch of Munfacturing is sold out. Maybe once the Second Batch of production hits the stores this problem would not be there. But at the moment looks like Early Production and the Hasty process to get the Products out on Launch day and ready for delivery could have been the reason these issues slipped out of Quality Control. Do I wait like a month or so? I can do that, will waiting a month help ? I hope I dont get it in my iPad. I dont wanna go through the hassles of exchanging and stuff I would rather wait and buy a little late than go through these issues.

    Augustya, you are always free to wait until another round of hardware becomes available if you are concerned about problems people are having.
    I would point out, though, that the discussion group is often looked at as an emergency room in a hostpital...you see only problems because no one healthy goes there.  You can get a false sense of the magnitude of problems if you only look at the number of complaints showing up here.
    On the news last night they said Apple sold over 3 million iPads last weekend...the couple dozen problems brought up on here is insignificant out of 3 million items.  Another way of looking at the magnitude of the problem.
    So if you have the ability to buy now, you can always go to the store, Apple if that is what you have available, open the iPad there, check it out (they come charged) and see if there is a light bleed problem.  If so complain on the spot and ask for a different unit.
    Or wait for another round to be manufactured...just do what you are most comfortable doing.

    ok now im really disgusted... i had to buy a new ipod nano because apple wouldn't repair mine... 3 days later... i bought this new iPod nano 2gb... i connected it to my pc... and let it charge... it was getting unusually warm... too much i think... but i didn't pay attention to it... i went out to buy some food, when i found this surprise: my nano was nuts... and the lcd... literally broken... i dont know if physically an LCD can crack when exposed to high temperatures... but it is insane... i've restored it 3 times... and the software is not responding correctly... i thought i would be able to hear my songs... but i was wrong... actually i had to reset the iPod to listen to my music... i think apple is making and distributing refurbished nano's... and some customers are suffering the consecuences...

    Sounds like your computer fried your iPod. Probably fried the previous one you had as well, which is why Apple may have refused to fix it. Maybe an over-voltage on the USB ports?
    You admit that you thought the Nano was getting too hot... but rather than disconnect it, you chose to leave it alone and go shopping. That may not have been the wisest choice, but that's just my opinion.

    More likely that your computer is at fault.
    You might want to have it looked at.

  • Update Multiple Columns when concerned about redo/undo log sizes.

    I have update statements that updates multiple columns at once if any of them is changed. What I see that even though the value of column is not changed it still increases the redo size.
    Below is a sample code similar to the ones in my code. Basically I check whether there is a difference in any of the columns to be updated and update all of them.
    Is there a way to improve redo log size without splitting the update statement for every column that I will be updating. Redo/Undo log size is a concern for us..

        Update employees e
           Set e.first_name = rec(i).first_name, e.last_name = rec(i).last_name
         Where e.first_name != rec(i).first_name
