HT1349 Is there a way to resync your computer from an iPod or iPhone mainly to get playlists

Is there a way to resync your computer iTunes library from an iPod or iPhone mainly for importing playlists?

The only way you can sync this music to the new iPod is to transfer it from your old iPod into iTunes first.  For different ways of accomplishing this task, see this older post from another forum member Zevoneer.

  • I had to reformat my desktop pc and lost all my music. Is there any way to transfer the music from the ipod to the pc?

I lost the music on my pc when I had to reformat the disk.  Is there any way to transfer the music from the Ipod to the pc?  I am told that if I try to sync the music that it will erase all the music on my Ipod.

    Transfer iTunes purchases by:

Transfer other music by using a third-party programlike one of those discussed here:

  • I got a new computer and backed up my iTunes library to an external hard drive.  The external hard drive is not allowing me to access the drive.  Is there a way to transfer the songs from my iPod touch to my new computer?

I got a new computer and backed up my iTunes library to an external hard drive.  The external hard drive is not allowing me to access the drive.  I no longer have access to the old computer.  Is there a way to transfer the songs from my iPod touch to my new computer?

That's a bummer, didn't realize the exHD files were corrupt, esp if you have tried from another PC and not just this new computer.
You can get purchases from the itunes store transferred from an iPod using these directions:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1848?viewlocale=en_US
If you want everything (meaning non-itunes songs, app data, photos, etc) you need to buy a 3rd-party ipod manager that support iTouch. Here is an iLounge article to start your research:

  • The drive my iTunes music was on is totally dead, so I'm on a new computer.  Is there a way to restore my music from my iPod to the new machine?

I had a total hard drive failure.  I cannot retrieve my music stored on this drive, including a few iTunes purchases I had not backed up.  Is there a way to push my music from my iPod to a new computer with iTunes?  I hate the idea of re-ripping my CD's, not to mention losing some iTunes purchases.

    David,
I would take a look at this old post by another forum member Zevoneer on different ways to recover the media from your iPod.

  • Is there a way to put the songs from my ipod to my itunes???

I think I did something and it erased some of my songs in the library but they are still on my ipod. what happened to the songs??? and is there a way to put the songs from my ipod onto my itunes?

    Perhaps you may
    i still
have the music files on your PC -- but not seen in iTunes.
Check using Windows Explorer in 'My Music\iTunes\iTunes Music\...' for folders containing your music (or wherever you keep your music folders). If it is there, we can get iTunes to recognize it. Try one or both of these:
--- In iTunes choose: Edit==>Preferences==>Advanced tab. Select 'Change' and browse to the music folder in your PC drive (if it isn’t already). Click OK to save that setting.
--- In iTunes choose: File==>’Add Folder to Library’ & browse to the music folder in your PC drive. Click OK.
Also check in your Recycle Bin to see if you accidentally deleted it. If so, ‘Restore’ it back to it’s original spot.
Then try running a search using Windows Explorer (or similar) for files with the extensions of: m4a, m4p, MP3,
    i OR
with the partial names of the songs you are missing.
Do all the above before you decide that they have been completely erased from your hard drive.
If your music files are truly gone, and you have some or all of your music files on your iPod, these links will give you
    i several
methods of recovering whatever songs remain on your iPod; some free, some third-party software, some more comprehensive for restoring playlists , ratings, counts, etc. Read them and their associated links before deciding on a strategy that works for you.

After recovering your song files, consider developing a backup strategy for just this type of situation. Below are some very good threads to read on the subject:

  • Is there any way to transfer your Contacts from your iPhone 4s to your macbook pro?

I just got the iPhone 4s and was wondering how to add contacts from the phone to my Macbook pro 13' (fall 2011)

You should be syncing you iphone ot your computer from the beginning.  The contacts should be on your computer.
iPhone User Guide (For iOS 5.0 Software)
If your computer has at least one unique contact, then you should get the option to merge when you sync.
Have a look at the manual.

  • Is there a way to sync my music from my ipod to a computer without deleting it, the original computer i had it on crashed and i really dont want to lose all my music

My computer that i had my itunes crashed and i wanted to know if there was a way to transfer my music from my ipod to a new computer without completely having to resync every cd. I already have the purchased music transfered.

The music sync is one way - computer to ipod.  The exception is itunes purchases:  File>Transfer Purchases
It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer for just such an occasion.  Use your backup cppy to put everything back.

  • Is there a way to recover your files from a computer that won't work anymore?

if my computer stops working, is there a way to recover the files?

I've been in the same situation once.
    Here's what I did:
Went to Staples and bought an external hard drive enclosure.
Took the hard drive out of the dead computer then installed it in the enclosure.
From there I hooked it up to a working computer via usb port then copied the files that I needed from it.
Assuming that your hard drive is not dead/toasted, then you can recover the data you need through this procedure.
    Hope that helps.

  • Is there any way to access your favourites from inside Illustrator?

I have saved a series of favourites in Kuler but can't work out how/if you can access them from Illustrator. TIA for your assistance. Jo

    Hi JoJoBally1,
I'm not seeing a really easy way to just view favorites specifically. Here are my thoughts/suggestions
The Kuler extension Window>Extension>Kuler is not user specific but does allow you to search by author and has the option send to the swatch panel. I probably wouldn't go this route as it is kind of labor intensive.
I'd probably save all your favorites as local files and then just either load them individually as needed or put them in the presets folder.
    Something like this:
    1. Sign in Kuler.adobe.com with your Adobe ID that has all your favorites
    2. Select the Favorites section under MyKuler
    3. Create a folder on the desktop of your computer named Favorites
    4. Save each of the favorites as a .ase file into the folder you created on the desktop by selecting it and hitting the save button on the webpage
    5. Close Illustrator
    6. Copy the entire Favorites folder into the Swatches Presets folder on your computer, not sure what OS your are on but probably something like \Adobe Illustrator CS6\Presets\en_US\Swatches\
    7. Launch Illustrator, open the Swatch panel (Window>Swatches), in the flyout menu in the top lefthand corner Open Swatch Library towards the bottom of the menu
    8. Favorites should be in the list there and you should be able to select any of the themes you put in the folder
Thats probably the process I would use
