HT1349 my hp computer crashed , got a new hp and i want my itunes i purchased off it on my new computer   what do i do

i had a hp computer with my itunes account and it crashed.   i have a new hp with same itunes account but none of my music from my other computer is on this one,   how do i get that music on this one     i dont no alot about this stuff   thanks

You should copy the music from your old computer and put it on an external hard drive or flash drive. Then plug in that drive to your new computer and drop all the music into itunes from the drive on your new computer.
If you don't have access to your old computer, you will have to buy a recovery program that can copy the music from your iPod. I highly recommend iRip from "the little app factory". http://thelittleappfactory.com/irip/
The program is about $20 and it will save you from losing all your music. I have used it to save my massive music collective on my iPod classic when my old windows machine crashed. iRip also will let you grab 100 tracks for free off your iPod so you can see for yourself that the program actually works!
iTunes stores music in these directories:
Windows: C:// ... /user/My Documents/My Music/iTunes
Mac OS:  /User/Music/iTunes
Hope this helps!

Copy them from your old computer. Copy them from the
back up of your old computer.
Are you logged on under the same Apple ID that you used
to make the purchses? What are you trying to download?
Not all types of media can be downloaded in all locations.

  • HT1329 my computer crashed a few months ago and i lost my itunes library...can i plug my ipod in and all the songs on the ipod will transfer to the new library

need to know if i can upload my ipod to itunes library with out losing any of the music...my computer crashed a couple of months ago and i lost all my itunes stuff...

The sync is one way - computer to ipod.  The exception is itunes purchases:  File>Transfer Purchases
It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer for just such an occasion.  Use your backup copy to put everything back.

  • Hello, i got a new phone and while connecting to iTunes it didn't sync all the data. What do i do? I do not want to start over

can't sync my new phone to the data on the itunes. pls help

    Just do this:
Connect your phone to your computer using the usb cable
Open iTunes and look on the left side for the name of your phone to appear (it will be shown under "Devices" when it is detected)
When you see it right-click your mouse on it and you will see a pop-up like the photo below.  When you see this choose "Restore from Backup"
This will restore the data and settings from the backup of your old phone to your new one.

  • I am setting up a new Mac and I want my iTunes Media on a separate drive

I am upgrading from an iMac to a Mac Pro.
On the Mac Pro I have a 120gb SSD boot drive.
I want to put my iTunes media files on a second drive in the Mac Pro.
I have seen instructions on how to put iTunes media on an external drive.
However, I am switching computers and I want to move my iTunes media from the older iMac to a non-boot drive on the newer Mac Pro.
I do not really want to use Migration Assistant because I am making a clean install of all apps and documents on the new machine.
I would like to keep my playlists and podcast subscriptions.
The new machine is running 10.9 and the older machine is running 10.7.5.
I am looking forward to answers that will help this iTunes move work.
    Thanks in advance.

Don't move ony the iTunes media folder. Too many issues can occur. Keep everything in the iTunes folder.
Copy the entire /Music/iTunes/ folder from old computer to the secondary drive on the Mac Pro.
On the Mac Pro, hold Option, launch iTunes, select Choose library... and select the iTunes folder on the secondary drive.
That's all you need to do.

  • My older classic 160GB shows up in iTunes 11 but will not sync. I have a new PC and transferred all my iTunes to it. Old was XP - new is Windows 7. Does this make a difference?

My older classic (6 yrs or more) will not sync even though is recognized in iTunes 11. I have a new computer with Windows 7 vs my old one that had XP. Does this matter? I had my data transferred and redownloaded what did not transfer but I cannot get the new items purchased and downloaded to sync with my iPod. The data on the iPod has not changed one bit even though it shows as syncing. What do I do? The iPod works perfectly otherwise.

Thanks planb77. Your instructions worked but I had to do a little more than you stated. I did not realize that transferring files to a new computer was not enough. When the iPod synced I was told I needed to "authorize" my new computer to get my iTunes purchases to sync to the iPod. So after the initial sync, I ejected and disconnected the iPod, went into the iTunes store, set up "home sharing" and then authorized the new computer. When that was done I reconnected the iPod and was able to sync all my books and music. The only thing I couldn't do was rename the iPod as iTunes never asked me to. Is there a way to rename it after it has been set by iTunes as "owner's iPod"?

  • My Mdaughter got a ndew ipod and is missing some itunes she purchased.

My daughter got a new ipod and can't find some of her recent purchases.  How can I find out what she has purchased and get them back?

    Hello, Annette.
This forum is for questions about iTunes U, Apple's service for colleges and universities to post educational material in the iTunes Store. You'll be most likely to get help with this issue if you ask in the general iTunes forums.
    Regards.

  • Old Computer Crashed - Got New One;  What to do about music?

My old computer crashed and we purchased a new one (the old system was XP and the new is VISTA), can I install my music from my IPOD on my new computer by using a FLASH drive? I was told that I could but am not sure of the steps? Could someone please advise?

If you have any iTunes Music Store purchases the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers was introduced with iTunes 7. You'll find details in this article: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod to a computer
The transfer of content from other sources such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well. Have a look at the web pages and documentation, this is just a small selection of what's available, they are generally quite straightforward. You can read reviews of some of them here: Wired News - Rescue Your Stranded Tunes
    TuneJack Windows Only
    iPod2PC Windows Only
    iGadget Windows Only
    iDump Windows Only
    SharePod Windows Only
    iRepo Mac and Windows
    iPodRip Mac & Windows
    YamiPod Mac and Windows
    Music Rescue Mac & Windows
    iPodCopy Mac and Windows
There is also a manual method of accessing the iPod's hard drive and copying songs back to iTunes on Windows or a Mac. The procedure is a bit involved and won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's available at this link: Two-way Street: Moving Music Off the iPod
One final thing, if your iPod is set to update automatically you need to take care connecting to an empty iTunes. You can use a keyboard command to prevent your iPod auto-syncing with iTunes. While connecting the iPod to the computer on Windows with iTunes 7.3 or later installed hold down the Shift + Ctrl keys together. This will stop the iPod from auto-syncing with iTunes and the iPod will appear in the source list. Wait until you are sure the iPod has mounted, and that it will not auto sync and then you can let the keys go. This may take between 20 to 30 seconds depending on your computer: iTunes 7.3 Keyboard Shortcuts for Windows
When your iPod appears in the iTunes source list change the update setting to manual, that way you can continue to use your iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. Also when using most of the utilities listed above your iPod needs to be enabled for disc use, changing to manual update will do this by default: Managing content manually on iPod
Whichever retrieval method you choose, keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync. I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up, relying on an iPod as your sole backup is not a good idea and external drives are comparatively inexpensive these days, you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay.

  • My pc crashed. I got it back up and running but my itunes music library is gone.  I have the music on my ipod but am afraid to sync new music in case it deletes all my music off my ipod.  How do I get the music back onto my library but not delete of ipod?

My pc had crashed several months ago.  I got it back up and running, however my itunes library with all the songs I purchased is gone.  I still have all songs on my ipod.  If I purchase new music from itunes and have it synced to my ipod will I lose all the music on my ipod?  Also is there a way that itunes can reinstall my music to my library?

  • Hello, i got a new iPad and i want to use iTunes U. It is on my iPad but i can not open It. Want should i do¿ Thank you

Bello, i got a new iPad and i wanted to use iTunes U. I instale debut i can not open It. What should i do. Thank you

    Hello Tuka66,
It sounds like you have installed the iTunes U app, but it is not working for you. I would try the troubleshooting steps from this article named:
iOS: Troubleshooting apps purchased from the App Store
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1702
    1. Update your device software
Update your device to the latest version of iOS.
    2. Check for app updates
You can setup apps to update automatically in Settings > iTunes & App Store, but make sure that your apps are up to date:
Open the App Store and tap Updates. If updates are available, tap Update All.
If  prompted, enter your iTunes Store account information. App Store will then download and install the app updates.
Note: Some apps may require a Wi-Fi connection to update.
    3. Install another app from the App Store
If none of your user-installed apps will launch, there could be an issue with Apple ID authorization. Download and install an app that isn't already installed on your device to reset this information. You can also remove an app from your iOS device and download it again from the App Store or sync the app from your computer.Note: If you have installed apps using multiple Apple ID accounts, you may need to perform this step for each account.
    4. Restart the app
If the issue affects only a single app, try closing just that app.
    5. Restart your device
Turn the device off and on.
    6. Reinstall the affected app
Remove the app from your device and reinstall it:
Tap and hold any app icon on the Home Screen until the icons start to wiggle and show a small "x" in the top-right corner of the app.
Tap the "x" in the corner of the app you want to delete.
Tap Delete to remove the app and all of its data from your device.
    Press the Home button.
    Go to the App Store.
Search for the app and then download it again.
Note: If it is a paid app, ensure you are using the iTunes account you purchased the app with originally. If it is not, you may be asked to purchase the app again. Learn more about downloading previously purchased items.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    All the very best,
    Sterling

  • I got a new laptop and i want to insert my ipod to it but i'm afraid i'll lose my apps what can i do to prevent that???

I got a new laptop and i want to insert my ipod to it but i'm afraid i'll lose my apps what can i do to prevent that???

The shuffle is not a backup device.
Was the media actually moved from the old computer to the new computer? If not, how did you magically make the content appear on the new system?
Use the backup of the old computer to put all the content on the new computer.
