I've had MS Office:mac 2011 on my imac for around 18 months now.  Outlook has just disappeared and when I find the file and open it it tells me that there is a problem and I may need to re-install it.  I've just done this using the installation disc which, then said the installation had been successful.
Outlook is still not working.  Can anyone please advise me on what to do next.

Remove MS Office 2011 completely (here are instructions) and reinstall it.
It's not a simple or fast process but it is important to follow all of the steps in order to get all the files that Office scatters around. This will not affect your data files, only MS Office and its preferences.

  • Powernowd cpu making noise when start some application

When I start some application my cpu is making noise. Is this because of powernowd.
I recently started using powernowd. Below is the default settings.
powernowd: PowerNow Daemon v1.00, (c) 2003-2008 John Clemens
powernowd: Found 2 scalable units:  -- 1 'CPU' per scalable unit
    powernowd:   cpu0: 800Mhz - 2401Mhz (4 steps)
    powernowd:   cpu1: 800Mhz - 2401Mhz (4 steps)

Are you sure your CPU makes the noise. I've never heard that CPU's make any noise. Isn't it rather the fan which makes the noise? That could very well be the case, since powernowd is intended to adjust cpu frequency scaling, i. e. reduce cpu threshold if it is not needed. If you then start an application, the cpu may be forced into a higher threshold, which produces heat, so that the fans have to kick in in order to reduce cpu temperature.

  • Printer making noise when printing

I have an HP Officejet Pro 8500 Wireless A909g all in one printer. Running on Windows 7 64-bit
I have started to notice a noise being made by my printer when the print head is moving. Either while printing or when the printhead is being cleaned. It sounds like picking at guitar strings.   When I check the status of my printer, it shows that everything is ok. I ran the HP diagnostic tool and it also showed that everything is working fine.  I checked the printhead health, and it showed that one was exellent and one was ok.
I have not been able to find any similar issues on the support forum or the HP site.

How long have you been using the printer? the printhead may be wearing out... as long as it still prints , its ok. YOu may need to replace the printhead in the future.
Although I am working on behalf of HP, I am speaking for myself and not for HP.

  • Laptop's Fan Making noise when i use flash

I am passionate about playing games online, Not that i care about whether or not my computer gets cracked or not, but i am curious now, I want to know why fan of my laptop start making noises and run faster then usual whenever i play games for more than half an hour. I mostly like [various links removed by moderator] and many others.  I just want to know why it happens plus if it can be fixed that would be great.

I've never heard anything from my trackpad save 'clicks' - and I don't recall anyone else coming here with that problem, either.
Since it sounds (no pun intended) like a hardware problem, if I were you I would take advantage of your remaining warranty and take the machine to your local Apple Store or an AASP and have them take a look at it. Could be a swollen battery, a bad trackpad, whatever.
    Good luck,

  • Phone making noise when not in use

Hi. I currently have one phone downstairs, and two upstairs. However, during different intervals throughout the day, the two phones upstairs will make a noise, even though no-one is using any of the phones. It is one beep, then followed by another beep about 5 seconds later. It is the same 'beep' that can be heard when someone IS using the phone downstairs, and then hangup the phone. What could be the cause of this noise?
To make matters worse, whenever this noise occurs, it will invariably disconnect my broadband connection. How can two phones make a noise, when no-one is using any of the phones in the house? Thanks for any answers.

    - if you havve extension sockets then they should be wired to terminals 2 & 5 of the detachable bottom half - your last picture.  I think from your first picture that someone has wired the extension to tyhe same terminals A & B on the backplate of the master socket your first picture.  the incoming BT wires are normally blue/white and white/blue
I have a socket upstairs, but that is connected like the following. It is actually the wire at the very bottom of the splitter, and not one of the ones that has a filter. One filter goes to the main phone, the other filter for the Sky. Is this classed as an extension socket?
This is what it looks like upstairs (Ive added a filter, but its pretty much the same):
    - I can see whay DS and Imjolly are getting at with reference to the extension being wired to the back of the NTE itself but it may be the case that the engineer who has installed it has just used an internal 4 wire (which they also use for extensions) from the block terminal, that's the little white box in the second picture down to the NTE5a. If that is the case there is really nowt wrong with that at all.
Do DS or Imjolly agree or disagree with this? When I put the master socket front back on, I get a reception on the phone, so it must work fine, even without any wires connected, right?
-You really shouldn't and I can't suggest this, but may be have the rear of the main part looked at, by BT of course, and possibly provide an image of this too. there should only be 2 wires (1 pair) connected to terminals A&B on the rear of this main part.
Looking at the picture of the master socket from earlier, to do this, would I only have to unscrew the screw that is most central (and not the left and right ones)?
Firstly have you checked the batteries in your smoke alarm?
    Yup. Its definately the phones.
Do the phones upstairs plug into telephone sockets or are they just slave handsets that connect to the main base station?
I think the pictures in this post answer that. The blue and white wire coming out of the splitter are two phones.

  • HI, I would like to use GPS with I Pad for navigation when I am trekking.  I will need to download maps in order to do this.  Can anyone tell me which I Pad is the one to purchase?  Thanks, Dave

    HI,
I would like to use an I Pad for navigating when I am trekking in the UK and in Europe.  I would also like to download local maps.
Does anyone know which I Pad will support GPS Navigation?
    Thanks
    Dave

Wi-Fi only iPads do not have the GPS chip and rely on inaccurate methods to determine location. So a cellular iPad is a must even if you do not set up a cellular data account.
Also downloaded maps take up space on the iPad. So I would suggest that you consider an iPad with storage greater that the base model.

  • Can't watch videos it says I need to download Adobe, when I attempt it says I may need to turn off my antivirus.  How can I do this?

For the last few days I have not been allowed to watch anything that may have a video.  It says I need an update version of Adobe and that I may need to turn off my antivirus.  Not sure how to do this.

Download the latest adobe flash player plugin only from the adobe download site.  When you install it it installs its plugin and a Flash Player system preference.  That Flash Player system preference has an option (Advanced tab) to auto check for updates.  If enabled it will put up a dialog telling you a new update is available when adobe relaases it.  I never have that enabled so I don't know how the dialog is worded and that it actually says anything about turning off any AV stuff.
Do you even have any AV software running?
You can always just download it again and reinstall to make sure you have the latest version.

  • My iphone 4 is not wanting to light up at all ,making noise when getting calls etc. what could be the problem?

I was trying to figure out why there was a cricle with a lock image in it on the top of my phone , so i was going through settings and couldnt find anything that was out of ordinary .so then i was trying to make room for a software update. The only thing i changed was was putting the little on screen help button. Then phone frozen after i was going through settings again to figure out the cricle and lock image on my home page. Then after a cetain amount of time, When screen time went out it wouldnt let me turn back on screen. But it will make noises from calls and texts and ect still when they come in. But it will not light up when calls or texts come through or notifications. It wont light up when i try to unlock it and or change the volume settings. My screen is blank and black but is still making sounds as if it was still on and working with no picture. Front camera still takes pictures when you hold down top and middle buttons but still not image on screen. Is there any suggestions that i can do myself or do you think i need to take it in myself to have it fixed?
    Thank you so much,
    Grace Wilson

A reset may help. Tap and hold the Home button and the On/Off buttons for approximately 15-20 seconds, until the Apple logo reappears. When the logo appears, release both buttons.

  • Optical drive making noise when waking from sleep

    Hello everyone.
I recieved my MacBook about three weeks ago, and haven't had any problems with it. Hope I never will have.
One thing that bothers me, however, is that when it wakes from sleep, the DVD-drive makes a noise - as if trying to read a disc that isn't there. The drive is empty.
This is beginning to get annoying, as I often use my Macbook in small classrooms, where being quiet is a virtue.
You have any idea what I can do to stop this madness? Hopefully it can be solved via. software, but what say you?
    Macbook 13" White   Mac OS X (10.4.8)   1 GB

It's normal. I believe the reason why it happens is that most drives, by default, when they have power applied to them, they start scanning to see if a disk is inserted. By this time (machine turns on), the OS or the drivers are not loaded to tell the unit NOT to scan, therefore it happens. Now if the OS or the drivers are loaded they could probably prevent it from doing that. Obviously that's only when the OS is already running and thus the machine is already on.
Luckily it's only once, but these kinds of issues have a long history to them... For example, back in the Amiga days, the machine would do automatic detection of floppy disks, and the way it did it was by moving the heads to a negative track, which would cause a click every second or so. Extremely smart of the engineers, because the drive wasn't supposed to support such functionality. At the same time it was extremely annoying to have the click happen! Finally some guys wrote some software to fix that, before too many people went insane from the clicking
Luckily our superdrives don't do something like that every second
