HT1349 my iphone felt and gave me that message no SIM card
I bought my apple 2 months ago and it happens my Iphone 3gs felt on the floor and that message come up no sim card. I reset the phone from setting, it still don't work.
I would do that roaminggnome said : to "Remove the SIM and put it back in.".
If that does not work go to your local apple retail store and ask the genuis bar. They may be able to fix it or replace it if you have warranty.

Was your iPhone hacked/jailbroken to be unlocked?
If so, installing an iOS update on an iPhone that was hacked to be unlocked or restoring such an iPhone with iTunes re-locks the iPhone to the carrier the iPhone was sold as carrier locked with.

Seems your story has changed... not seeing is not the same as not supported.
If the phone is carrier locked, you need a SIM from the carrier it's locked to to activate it. The sim does not have to be active, it just has to be one from that carrier. -

There is no SIM slot in a CDMA iPhone 4. The GSM version has a SIM slot.

Activation requires a SIM card.

It sounds as if you had a device that was jailbroken/hacked to operate on your carrier. Upon updating the iOS, it is now locked back to the original carrier the device was locked to.
Only the carrier the device is locked to can authorize an unlock. You will need to make contact with that carrier and see if they provide unlocking services, and if they do, if you qualify for an unlock. Otherwise, you are out of luck. One that carrier can take care of the unlocking. -

This is not a feature of iPhone, iPad or iOS.
Bluetooth is supported for stereo headsets/speakers, handsfree telephone
devices/headsets, some keyboards, some peer-to-peer apps from the
app store and internet tethering where provided by the carrier.

I have a new IPhone 6 just went to the store last Saturday to connect it, (I am replacing my IPhone 5s) it says that I am updated on IOS 8.0.2 but now started to show a message that reads like this: " No SIM card installed" and I have no phone line or anything, my carrier is Sprint and I just got back from there and they told me that this is something I have to deal with APPLE because they have nothing to do with software. To troubleshoot this issue where your iPhone gives you the message "No SIM Card installed" please follow the steps below.
Update your iPhone to the latest version of iOS.
Turn airplane mode on and then off again.
Restart your iPhone.

Remove the SIM card and make sure that it's a valid SIM that your carrier provided. Also make sure that it's not damaged, worn, or modified. Then reinsert it.
A SIM tray that comes with one iPhone model won't necessarily work with a different iPhone model. When you insert the correct SIM tray, the SIM tray should be flush with the device.
If you have another SIM card, insert it. You can use a SIM card from any phone with the same format as your iPhone SIM card. If your iPhone works with that SIM card, contact the carrier that issued your original SIM card.
Restore the iPhone.
If you still see the issue, contact Apple support.

My area of interest is in business and economic history. There is a considerable amount of reading and charting. Until the iPad hit the streets, I only considered stacks of books, journals, and downloaded documents, all marked up with highlighters, underlines, and marginal notes.
Most of my PC based work involved MS Office, Endnote, and MS OneNote.
What I would like to do with the iPad and MacBook are the same things (Office, Endnote, OneNote) and add the ability to read and markup all forms of printed materials from books to pdf to webpages.
I cut my teeth on an iPod Touch and have tried a lot of the note taking and reading apps. Without a camera the standard iPod Notes works for short quick notes and long think pieces. I just emailed the content and downloaded the stuff to my PC. Obviously, I do not want to continue at this "non-integrated" level of work.
