It cannot be tracked by either. It is tracked via Find My iPhone, so long as that was activated before the device came up missing. It has to be powered on and connected to the Internet as well.

Call Apple anyway. If the device was ever registered with then they will have the serial # on file and can look you up by other info such as your name or phone number.
To re-enable an iPad any computer with iTunes should work. However, if your data was not backed up to iCloud you will not be able to access it until you get back to your home computer. -

This works for any Mac provided that the logic board has not been replaced.
I recently had the logic board replaced in my iMac. After the tech left (on site repair thanks to Applecare), I went to about the Mac and found jibberish numbers. I called Apple and the AASP and found that he had forgotten to register the serial number. So he came back and, with a special tool (as he called it - looked a little like a USB stick) he contacted Apple and then entered my original serial number as I read it to him.
So, I assume they changed the process since I still have the same serial number as before. -

If you synced your iPad to iTunes on your computer, go to iTunes/Edit/Preferences/Devices and move the mouse pointer over the listed iPad backup. A window will pop up and show you the serial number.

If you registered the product with Adobe (Version 12 and 13 required mandatory registration) then the correct serial number must be recorded in your Adobe account. You can login and check there and also copy and paste the number to avoid any mistakes in reading the numbers.

so my iphone 5 kept crashing and i brought it to the apple store and got a new replacement phone. Unfortunately for me the next day it got stolen, i have the find my iphone app but it says my device is offline so i cant track it nor can i wipe the contents. I have blocked my sim, but someone told me that i could get the product itself blocked so that the horrible theif cannot use it at all. Contact your wireless carrier. They should have your IMEI number on file.
However, what will you do with the IMEI number once you have it? It will not help you track or recover your device. -
